Rapper Common Endorses Hillary; Says Trump’s Election Will Bring Out Racism Only Seen During “Slave Days”

(AllHipHop News) Over the past few days, Donald Trump has been attempting to reboot his campaign in an effort to win votes before the November presidential elections.

Trump recently booted his campaign manager Paul Manafort in favor of Kellyanne Conway and Breitbart’s executive chairman Steve Bannon.

As part of his new efforts to woo voters, Trump has specifically reached out to African-Americans, in an attempt to gain their support.

“No group in America has been more harmed by Hillary Clinton’s policies than African-Americans,” Trump spouted during a stop in Dimondale, Michigan last week.

“You’re living in poverty, your schools are no good, you have no jobs, 58% of your youth is unemployed — what the hell do you have to lose?” Donald Trump reasoned to African-American voters, in front of a predominantly white crowd.

Despite Trump’s 180-degree turn, rapper Common has zero faith in The Donald or the billionaire’s vision for America.

In fact, if Trump’s election could bring back a new level of racism that hasn’t been seen since slavery, according to Common.

“America wouldn’t be taking a step back… we’d be taking 12 steps back,” Common told Newsweek. “It would be returning to some of the mentality of racism we’ve seen in the mid-Sixties, in the civil rights era. It would be returning to some of the actual racism that existed in slave days.”

Common said he is putting his trust in Hillary Clinton, because electing Trump will usher in a “dark” time period in America.

“My hopes and beliefs are that Hillary Clinton can be elected. I feel like having a woman as president is needed at this point,” Common said. “Let’s bring new energy into it…I’m speaking up for Hillary because we can’t allow Trump to get into office. That’s not acceptable.”

Drake Lashes Out At Meek In D.C., Just Ahead Of Summer Sixteen Philly Stop

(AllHipHop News) Drake’s Summer Sixteen tour hasn’t even reached Philadelphia yet and he’s already take aim at his rival, Meek Mill.

The Toronto-born rapper didn’t mince his words in Washington DC last night (August 20) during a performance of “Back to Back,” his diss record towards Meek.

“That p#### still ain’t do s##t about the other one,” Drake said from the stage during his performance at The Verizon Center.

Drake didn’t stop there though.

At his after party at Bliss nightclub, Drake hopped up on stage and performed “Back to Back” again.

Drake and Future’s Summer Sixteen tour is heading to Meek’s home of Philadelphia tonight (August 21).

It could be interesting, because Meek, who just copped a mansion in Beverly Hills with Nicki Minaj, just came back into town last night as well.

The hometown hero returned for hosting duties at popular strip club Vanity Grand, where he was seen tossing a few thousand bucks around.

Is Drake Gonna Make Rihanna’s Dream Come True In L.A.?

The word is starting to get out that Drake may be bringing some very special guests with him to his shows in Los Angeles at The Staples Center.

The three days Drake will be in L.A. will be epic. Drake has a mansion out there that has hosted parties with all kinds of celebrities and athletes.

We can assume Drizzy has plenty of L.A. legends he’s going to bring out since he’s performing on September 7, 8 and 10.

But the biggest surprise act of Drake’s run in Los Angeles will hail from Detroit.

Eminem is supposedly going to make an appearance again, but only this time WITH Rihanna on one stage.

Rihanna is currently burning up the world on her ANTI tour, but she wants to get back to be on one stage with Em and Drakenat one time.

Drake, Em and RiRi have made millions together thanks to hits like “Work” and “Love The Way You Lie.”

RiRi supposedly helped keep things cool between Drake and Em, which helped them smooth things over for the August 16 performance, even though it looked like they might have been heading for a some beef.

Frank Ocean’s Second Album Is Titled “Blonde” And It’s Available Now

(AllHipHop News) Singer Frank Ocean’s highly anticipated second album Blonde is now available for purchase.

The mysterious musician has kept fans waiting for a follow-up to his Grammy-winning 2012 debut album Channel Orange, but listeners no longer have to cool their heels for his new songs.

Ocean’s second album Blonde, a 17-track LP that also contains his fresh single “Nikes,” became available to buy via streaming app Apple Music on Saturday (August 20), two days after the release of his surprise visual album Endless.

While many have reported that Endless is Ocean’s long-awaited new record, Rolling Stone confirmed it is in fact a separate project to his follow-up LP Blonde, which was initially believed to be called Boys Don’t Cry.

Instead, the name Boys Don’t Cry applies to a print publication that customers received when they purchased his album Blonde at pop-up shop locations installed in London, Los Angeles, New York and Chicago.

Frank has kept the surprises coming for fans over the summer and he has been teasing listeners about the release of his second album since last year.

Earlier this month, he hit headlines after posting a cryptic live video stream on his website, showing an Apple Music-sponsored black and white video feed of a warehouse.

Ocean updated his live stream on Thursday (August 18) with footage of him building a staircase in the same warehouse, which are the basis for the visuals seen in Endless.

His 18-track visual album Endless features collaborations with musicians such as James Blake, Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood and Jazmine Sullivan, and the London Contemporary Orchestra provides much of the beautiful background tunes thanks to its cello, violin, double bass and viola players.

Kanye West Fans Cause Chaos Outside Pop-up Store

(AllHipHop News) Kanye West’s fans reportedly caused chaos outside the rapper’s pop-up clothing store in New York.

Police almost shut down the pop-up shop in New York’s Tribeca district on Friday morning as hundreds of Yeezy fans showed up to the opening of Kanye’s The Life of Pablo pop-up store, PageSix.com reports.

Many waited for hours before pushing and shoving their way past the police, with one officer reportedly telling the crowd he would shut down the store if the chaos continued.

The rapper-turned-fashion mogul opened 21 stores in cities such as London, Berlin, Sydney, Amsterdam, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Cape Town, and fans dashed to get hold of Pablo-themed T-shirts, denim jackets and hoodies designed by Kanye and his collaborator Cali Thornhill DeWitt.

Kanye generated more than $2 million in sales at his last pop-up store event in Soho, New York, back in March.

Despite the hype, some fans were left disappointed by the merchandise, Page Six claims, with many re-selling their purchases once they left the store.

One shopper spent $1,350 and had already made a $750 profit selling to fans who had missed out on the merchandise.

“I have been here since 9pm last night (Thursday) and there are people who are trying to flip the clothes,” explained musician David Saint West. “So they are buying a bulk of clothing and selling it for a higher price.”

A representative for Kanye has yet to comment on the report.

“Empire” Star Tasha Smith Meets “Kubo” At Special LA Screening

In concert with Laika’s new animated release “Kubo And The Two Strings,” starring Matthew McConaughey and Charlize Theron, Laika threw a star studded party last week to preview the movie and kick off the on site Universal Studios Hollywood exhibition “From Coraline To Kubo: A Magical Laika Experience.”

The exhibition/screening party featured rarely seen original props, puppets and set pieces from Laika’s Academy Award Winning release “Coraline” (2009), “ParaNorman” (2012),“The Box Trolls”(2014), and this year’s  “Kubo And The Two Strings.”

In keeping with Kubo’s asian inspired themes,  Laika went all out with the perks for those lucky enough to be in attendance.  Professional origami artists created intricate paper “doodles” of characters from the movie.

For those with a sweet tooth, a candy master made edible sculptures of majestic dragons, birds and monkeys that were almost too beautiful to eat.  The lavish party took place at Universal Studios Hollywood.

On hand at the fete were “Kubo And The Two Strings” director Travis Knight and “Empire” actress Tasha Smith.  Fun fact?  Director Travis Knight used to be a rapper known as Chilly Tee.

Nevertheless, on the subject of his one rap album, a 1993 release titled “Get Off Mine,” Knight is the definition of low key as first quoted in The Portland Monthly: “Nobody bought that record, ” said Knight, adding: ” I liked making music, but I hated the performing part of it.  I think there’s a reason most animators are hidden behind giant curtains.  They’re not meant for the spotlight.”

Knight, who started out as a stop-motion animator on Eddie Murphy Productions’  television series “The PJs” is the son of Phil Knight, the founder and chairman of Nike, Inc.

See what both Knight and Smith had to say to All Hip Hop about all things “Kubo And The Two Strings”:

“Kubo And The Two Strings” opens in theaters nationwide on August 19, 2016.

T.I., Queen Latifah & Mike Epps To Star In New Comedy Film “The Trap” Directed By Chris Robinson Of ATL

(AllHipHop News) Atlanta trap star T.I.,  legendary rapper Queen Latifah and long time comedian Mike Epps are set to star in a new indie comedy “The Trap,” which will be directed by Chris Robinson,  also director of 2006 hit film ATL.

The Hollywood Reporter indicates that Queen Latifah and Flavor Unit Entertainment partner Shakim Compere are to produce the movie, along with Epps and his partner at Naptown Productions, Niles Kirchner.

In addition, T.I. will produce under his Grand Hustle Films banner with his partner Brian Sher.

Director Chris Robinson is also slated to pitch in on production as well.

“The Trap’s” script, which was written by Niles Evan, is based on a story that he concocted with the help of Epps.

The storyline for The Trap revolves around a man (T.I.) who returns home to Atlanta following a lenghty absence to help revive his mother’s restaurant. A new chicken recipe does the trick, but presents unanticipated problems for the collective as well.

Filming for the movie is set to begin this Fall, with Jesse Collins to executive produce.

Where’s A$AP Rocky? Lil’ Boosie Has His Eye On Kendall Jenner

A$AP Rocky certainly better watch his back as Lil’ Boosie has his eye on his girl, Kendall Jenner.

Boosie took to Instagram to post a bra-less photo of supermodel Kendal with the caption,

“Sexy a**.”

Boosie hardly posts his #WCWs, so apparently he is really captivated by her beauty, or wants to start something with A$AP!

Lil’ Boosie has some stiff competition as A$AP Rocky seems to truly have Kendall’s heart right now. Could you imagine Kendall dating Boosie BadAzz? No? Well, we couldn’t either honestly.

Someone get Kris Jenner on the phone, so we can get a guest appearance from Boosie on ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians.’ Now this would be comedy!

Lil Durk Cleared Of Probation Violation & Has Gun Charges Dropped In Cook County Court

(AllHipHop News) Chicago rapper Lil Durk has dodged a bullet once again as he was cleared of violating probation and had gun charges dropped by prosecutors in a Cook County court.

The Chicago Tribune reports that Judge Timothy Joyce found that prosecutors proved that the rapper knew that the guns were present in an Orlando Park townhome he was renting, but failed to prove that he had “possession and control” of the weapons.

The judge’s decision stems from a 2014 incident in which law enforcement discovered two handguns on his kitchen counter as Lil Durk, real name Durk Banks, walked down the stairs to the first floor of the townhome.

Assistant State’s Attorney Holly Kremlin presented the case that Banks violated his probation because he was aware that the guns and the owners of the weapons were present in the home.

She also would argue that Banks admitted to the police that the guns were his.

However, Bank’s attorney Sam Adam’s Jr. stated that such an admission was never noted by law enforcement.

The rapper was on edge, but was fully confident in his representation in the end.

“I was kind of nervous, but I ain’t ever nervous about the truth because I know God is on my side and I got a good lawyer,” said a relieved Banks.
