D.C. Mayor Creates Task Force On Missing Children After Public Pressure (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Several Hip Hop artists were among the many citizens attempting to draw attention to the cases of missing young people in Washington, D.C.

Rap legend LL Cool J played a major role in the hashtag #MissingDCGirls to trend on Twitter.

Other Hip Hop stars like T.I., Meek Mill, Nicki Minaj, and Russell Simmons have addressed the publicized cases of Black and Latino teenagers going missing in the nation’s capital.

After significant public outcry, D.C. Mayor Muriel E. Bowser announced on Friday the city will increase the number of police officers assigned to find missing children and will also establish a task force for helping runaway children.

D.C. police faced some criticism when the department suggested most of the missing girls were likely runaways, not victims of violent crime.

That announcement was viewed by some residents as an attempt to downplay the significance of searching for the girls.

The Mayor’s office is now connecting the importance of confronting the issue of runaways to the number of missing children in the city.

“Often times, these girls are repeat runaways,” said a spokesman for the mayor, Kevin Harris. “So if we really want to help solve this problem and bring down the numbers, we have to break the cycle of young people, especially young girls, who repeatedly run away from home.”

The District’s congressional Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton plans to introduce legislation to require the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention to collect and publish broad demographic characteristics – including race, gender, sexual orientation and gender identity – of missing children.

In addition, members of the Congressional Black Caucus have called for a federal investigation by the FBI.

“The Attorney General [Jeff Sessions] is aware of the reports and is looking into the issue,” said Justice Department spokesperson Sarah Isgur Flores.

DC police officials have suggested, despite memes featuring unnerving statistics floating around the internet, there has not been an increase in missing teenagers.

According to the Metropolitan Police, the high-profile attention on the missing girls in DC is the result of the department’s new practice of tweeting the name and photo of every “critical” missing person case in the city.

501 cases of missing children have been recorded so far in 2017 and reportedly 22 cases were open as of last Wednesday.

Many activists and politicians are still bothered by what is perceived to be the lack of attention placed on unaccounted young people of color, and some advocates draw attention to the possibility of displaced young girls being forced into sex work.

“There’s a view out there that this is a friendly kind of situation,” said Sasha Bruce Youth Network founder Deborah Shore about teenagers and children in unstable homes staying with friends or relatives. “But there are people who prey on young people. We have just seen and heard from so many young people that these arrangements are not friendly. They require some kind of payment, and often it’s for some kind of sexual favor.”

Washington, D.C. City Councilmember Trayon White told CNN, “What the community is alarmed about – we had a 10-year-old girl missing the other day, but there was no amber alert. We just feel like if this was a white person or from another neighborhood, there would be more alarm about it.”

“Scoundrel” Wiz Khalifa P##### Off The Mayor Of Medellin With Pablo Escobar Tribute

(AllHipHop News) Pittsburgh rap star Wiz Khalifa has drawn the wrath of Colombians, after a trip to the country turned into a bunch of bad publicity.

On Friday (March 25), Wiz was over in Medellin Columbia for a concert in the city, when he decided to visit the grave of the deceased drug lord, Pablo Escobar.

The rapper proudly posed next to Escobar’s headstone with no caption.

https://instagram.com/p/BSEP9_YjiOW/

But Wiz’ attempt to pay recognition to the slain Medellin drug cartel boss backfired, resulting in the Mayor the city attacking the rapper in the press, who also demand an apology from Wiz.

Mayor Federico Gutierrez labeled the rap star a fraud and a “scoundrel” for laying flowers and a marijuana joint at Escobar’s headstone.

“It shows that this guy has never had to suffer from the violence inflicted by these drug traffickers,” Mayor Gutierrez told the local press.

Authorities estimate that Pablo Escobar murdered over 4000 people, including numerous politicians and lawmakers, during his war against the government, to keep his cartel in the 1980s and 1990s.

Pablo Escobar was famously killed during a shootout on a rooftop in December of 1993 with the Colombian national police.

Three People Reportedly Hospitalized After Robbery & Shootout Connected To Fetty Wap

(AllHipHop News) Fetty Wap was reportedly robbed over the weekend which may have led to a shootout.

According to TMZ, police are investigating a violent incident that sent three people to the hospital, but a robbery has not been reported to authorities.

The website reports:

Sources close to the situation tell us Fetty had a chain and cash snatched while he was in Patterson, NJ. Law enforcement sources tell us cops were dispatched to Montclair Ave and Paxton Street around 5 AM over a fight with shots fired. Sure enough, they located 2 guys nearby with gunshot wounds — 1 was shot in the leg and another in his torso.

A 3rd man thought to be involved checked himself into Hackensack Medical Center soon after. Fetty is not one of the victims.

DJ Akademiks is also covering the alleged theft of Fetty’s jewelry:

The internet personality wrote on Instagram:

Bruh… I’ve gotten like 15 + diff pics with ppl posing with a “fetty wap” chain just tonight alone…allegedly after a altercation his chain is now on tour in the hood. Pray for its safe return or hope someone is passing around a replica

The “Beauty and the Beast” soundtrack and Depeche Mode’s Spirit round out the top five, respectively.

Jay Z Puts Money Into Indestructible Suitcase Line Away

(AllHipHop News) Rapper/entrepreneur Jay Z is backing a new indestructible suitcase line called Away.

Away was started by Jen Rubio and Steph Korey after they wanted to make an affordable suitcase that would not break.

Their suitcases have impenetrable and unbreakable outer cases, USB ports to charge devices, interior compression systems so it saves space, and wheels for the smoothest roll.

They launched the line in 2016 and have recorded $12 million in sales.

People have speculated that their early success is due to their team of 41 technologically skilled millennials and their use of popular photo sharing app, Instagram to market.

“There’s a lot of people on our team who were coming of age when Instagram came out, so we’ve definitely learned from them that brand discovery and shopping through Instagram is an important part of how they find things,” co-owner Steph Korey told CNN Money.

Currently, there is one physical retail store in New York’s Soho.

In addition to Jay Z, Forerunner Venture, Jerff Kearl of Stance and Any Dunn of Bonobos are among the other investors in Away.

The film is based on two characters, Darius (DeRay Davis) and Pat (Lil Duval), who think they can grow cannabis and sell it to dispensaries that are cropping up in California after recreational marijuana is legalized.

“Grow House” is set to be released in theaters on April 20, 2017

Trey Songz Demands An Apology From Nicki Minaj

(AllHipHop News) Trey Songz has blasted Nicki Minaj for including him in her feud with rapper Remy Ma, insisting she didn’t have a hit before they collaborated on his 2010 track “Bottoms Up.”

The “Bang Bang” hitmaker’s dispute with Remy kicked off last month, after the release of her Gucci Mane collaboration “Make Love.”

Remy, 36, fired back with a seven-minute retaliation track, dubbed “shETHER,” a play on Nas’ 2001 track “Ether,” which was aimed at his then-foe Jay Z.

Beginning her song with a repetition of “F##k Nicki Minaj”, Remy then dragged her enemy’s ex-boyfriend, Meek Mill, into their feud, claiming he revealed her famous bottom was fake.

She also dubbed the “Anaconda” MC an “A-list groupie” for reportedly sleeping with her “Bottoms Up” collaborator Trey.

Nicki responded to the shots by taking to Instagram to poke fun at the poor sales of Remy’s new album, and she reposted a video clip of Beyonce naming her the “rap queen.”

She then hit Twitter to call out Trey for not properly dismissing the rumors of a tryst after he tweeted:

“Even when you stay out of the way they will have ya name all in some s##t. Wake up to new comedy everyday.”

In response to his post, she wrote:

“Wut u (sic) SHOULD be saying is that it’s not true.”

When Trey Songz was asked if Nicki had apologized, and revealed he hadn’t heard from her.

“No she hasn’t (apologized), and Nicki I love you…, but let’s keep it real, Nicki ain’t had s##t before Bottoms Up,” he told Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club.

“I love you Nicki. I love you. You came at me wrong, you disrespected me, but I love you.”

He then insisted he tried to clear up the controversy.

“I went out (of) my way to say I didn’t (sleep with you), and I don’t do that…,” he added. “I don’t feel a need to say nothing about a woman to promote my career whether I’ve been with her or not and I don’t feel the need to denounce things when people say they are true. But because this was Nicki and because we do have a history, because I respect her, I went out (of) my way to do that. What (has) that got me?”

Shooting at Cincinnati Nightclub Kills 1, Injures 15 People

(AllHipHop News) Gunfire erupted inside a packed nightclub in Cincinnati, Ohio, early Sunday morning, killing at least one person and injuring 14, and police said they were still looking for the shooter.

The motive was unclear, but Cincinnati Assistant Police Chief Paul Neudigate said on Twitter that “there are no indications this incident is terrorism related.”

The shooting took place around 1 a.m. when hundreds of people were inside the Cameo Nightlife club, which the Cincinnati Police Department said has had “multiple problems” in the past.

“At this point it’s unclear exactly what instigated the shooting,” Captain Kimberly Williams said at a televised briefing. “Just a lot of chaos when the shots went off.”

The shooting comes less than a year after a gunman opened fire at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, killing 49 people. It was the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.

Police initially said they believed at least two shooters were involved in Cincinnati, but later Neudigate said in a Twitter message that there was only one reported gunman, though police were still trying to determine if there were others.

Hours after the shooting, the suspect was still at large, and police did not have a good description, in part because witnesses were reluctant to cooperate, Williams told WCPO.

“We are in the middle of a very horrific situation that occurred at the nightclub with multiple victims,” Neudigate told NBC News.

“It’s going to be a long night for our homicide units to investigate this incident, but right now things are stable.”

Several of the victims in Cincinnati had life-threatening injuries, WLWT-TV reported on its website, quoting Neudigate, who said hundreds of people were in the nightclub at the time of shooting.

The University of Cincinnati Medical Center admitted eight people injured in the shooting, one of them in critical condition, a spokeswoman told NBC News.

A representative of the hospital could not be reached immediately for comment.

Cameo Nightlife’s Facebook page says it features “College Friday’s” for students 18 and older and “Saturday’s 21+ grown and sexy night.”

The club, a large single-story structure, is a 7-mile drive from downtown Cincinnati near the southeast corner of the city, the heart of the second largest metropolitan area in Ohio with more than 2 million residents.

Krayzie and Bizzy Bone Form Duo “Bone Thugs” And Drop A New Single With Stephen Marley

(AllHipHop News) Rap icons Krayzie Bone and Bizzy Bone, known together as Bone Thugs, have released a single called “Coming Home” featuring reggae artist, Stephen Marley.

The duo’s new song was produced by Clifford Goilo and Avedon and American hit-man, Damizza.

In the melancholy track, Bone Thugs somberly reflect on their past while being caught up in the whirlwind of fame.

“This album is a breath of fresh of air coming from Bone. We wanted to give this project a different look. That’s where the album title comes from: New Waves,” Krayzie Bone told AllHipHop.com.

Coming Home is the first single off their new album, New Waves, which will be available this summer on eOne Music with surprise features.

Entertainment One is a worldwide independent studio that specializes in the development, acquisition, production, financing, distribution and sales of entertainment content.

“We love the process of making music so this wasn’t a hard album for us to make. We have so much history with not only eOne Music but with eOne Music President, Alan Grunblatt. He’s the same dude we’ve had all our success with since E. 1999 Eternal.” Bizzy Bone explained.

Bone Thug’s New Waves album will be available this summer.

Kanye West Could Be An Animated Character On The Kardashians New Cartoon

(AllHipHop News) Kris Jenner is reportedly developing an animated TV series about the Kardashian family.

The family matriarch is reportedly working on another television project which would star animated versions of the “entire family,” including herself and daughters Kim, Khloe, Kourtney, Kylie and Kendall, among others, with the exception of Kris’ ex Caitlyn Jenner, who will reportedly not be involved.

According to reports, Kim had a meeting with movie mogul Harvey Weinstein’s company in Los Angeles earlier this month to discuss the show, which is reportedly going to be targeted at adults, not children, and air in a primetime slot.

Their main show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, began airing in 2007 and is now one of the longest-running reality TV shows in the U.S.

It has spawned a number of spin-offs such as “Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami,” and “Kourtney and Kim Take New York,” and “I Am Cait,” which chronicled the life of Caitlyn following her transition from Bruce, and current show “Rob & Chyna,” which chronicles the lives of Rob Kardashian and his on-off relationship with Blac Chyna.

A second season was canned after the warring couple split up in February.

Nicki Minaj’s Stylist Says He’s In Love With The Rapper’s Curvy Figure

(AllHipHop News) Nicki Minaj’s breast-baring ensemble at Paris Fashion Week was a last-minute decision by the rapper and her stylist.

Nicki turned heads at the Haider Ackermann show earlier this month by wearing the extremely revealing number, a one-sleeved corset-style blazer that exposed her left breast apart from a cover on her nipple, paired with leather shorts.

It received mixed reactions from the public, but the star’s stylist Maher Jridi is proud his client was brave enough to confidently flash the flesh and revealed she chose the look on a whim.

“We were getting ready the morning of the show, and Nicki saw that Mugler vintage top and liked it. I just so happened to have metallic Agent Provocateur nipple covers, and we just went for it,” he recalled to Billboard. “There wasn’t a big discussion; this was another one of those moments where things were just happening organically. I believe women should feel free to show skin without worrying about anyone’s opinion, I find confidence very sexy, but also respect and understand modesty at the same time.

“Freedom and acceptance is key, especially in the world we live in right now!”

The “Anaconda” hitmaker’s hourglass figure doesn’t fit the fashion norm, so the stylist ensures every piece she wears is tailored to her shape.

“Most of the runway looks are sample sizes, so things are very straight along with fitted cuts,” he explained. “Nicki is a sexy, curvy woman, which I love, so to amplify that we tailor everything to make sure each piece sits perfectly on her body and every outfit complements her in the best possible way.”

Nicki showed off more of her racy style in London earlier this week (beg20Mar17) as she joined rapper Drake onstage at the O2 Arena as a special guest on his Boy Meets World tour.

J Cole’s Director Wants Fans To “See The Whole Picture” With New Documentary

(AllHipHop News) Rapper J Cole recently announced the opening date of his new HBO documentary “4 Your Eyez Only, A Dreamville Film.”

The effort is J. Cole’s second film as his “Forest Hills Drive: Homecoming” premiered on HBO last year.

Scott Lazer, the director of the rapper’s latest film told EW.com the purpose was to “give context” to Cole’s music because “You can’t really understand until you see the whole picture.”

4 Your Eyez Only is Cole’s fourth album about Cole’s friend, James McMillian Jr, who got caught up in the streets and was eventually murdered.

The documentary will feature musical performances from the album and testimonies from low-income residents in the south.

The film will show their struggles over housing, voting laws for felons, integration, and more frustrations.

“So many of us are hurting and we’re confused and we’re angry. I’m going to do it because I can’t depend on these people. I can’t depend on them,” one of the subjects confessed.

J Cole’s documentary “4 Your Eyez Only, A Dreamville Film” will premiere on Saturday, April 15 on HBO from 10-11 pm EST.

Your Eyez Only: The Best Collaborations That We Wish We Could Have Seen

“Y’all got ‘til April the 7th to get y’all sh*t together!”

The standout statement of Kendrick Lamar’s new single, “The Heart Pt. 4,” rang like an alarm, waking the dormant hysteria that surrounds almost all of his verses. Although Thursday’s surprise single left the Rap world with plenty to speak about, Lamar’s moment was shared with his industry bestie, J. Cole, who announced the following day that he will be releasing his second HBO documentary, 4 Your Eyez Only, based on his album of the same title on April 15th. Only a week after Kendrick’s stern warning.

The proximity of these dates reminded me of that one time K. Dot and Cole had Hip-Hop on its toes by pump faking on the possibility of a joint project. They both went as far as to tweet several times over a span of three years about the concept, allowing the rumors to brew. Yet, the closest we came to a collaborative tape were a pair of 2015 freestyles where they both attacked each other’s instrumentals only for Cole to end his verse by answering the question of “When?” with “B*tch never.”

This is arguably one of the best joint albums to never happen. Yet throughout the history of Rap there have been plenty of shelved projects that would have been just as iconic.

The Commission-Biggie, Jay-Z, and Charli Baltimore

Following the release of Jay-Z’s Reasonable Doubt, Biggie and Hov decided to create a Brooklyn answer to Nas’s QB group, The Firm. The Commission consisted of both BIG and Jigga as well as a female artist, Charli Baltimore. Even though collaborations between the group proved that a quality project was inevitable, an album would never come to fruition as Biggie was tragically murdered in 1997, diminishing the opportunity.

This was a failed attempted at a Commission record, but hey…

Child Rebel Soldier-Kanye West, Luper Fiasco, and N.E.R.D.

Following the success of the 2007 song, “Us Placers,” Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, and N.E.R.D. conceived the idea of creating a super group which they would eventually call Child Rebel Solider (CRS). After remixing N.E.R.D.’s “Everybody Nose” and confirming a 2010 release date for the album hysteria grew. This excitement continued as Kanye said the project was tabled and will be released following his Watch The Throne album with Jay-Z. But in 2013, all hopes were killed when Lupe tweeted that CRS won’t ever release their EP because the group was “dead.”

The “Original” Murder, Inc.-Jay-Z, DMX, and Ja Rule

In 1999, following a series of mutual featured verses, Jay-Z, DMX, and Ja Rule, graced the cover of XXL where they explained that they were now a trio rapping under the moniker Murder, Inc. Being as they were some of the biggest names in Hip-Hop at this time, the news of their merger created much anticipation for the release of their official project. Yet shortly after the announcement, DMX estranged himself from the group citing flawed business practices and style infringement as his motives. This led to the group’s demise and a feud that lasted nearly 20 years. Yet, to Beyonce, nothing is impossible. In 2016 during her show at MetLife stadium, she ordered a cease-fire between the three icons, resulting in a peaceful selfie.

I Can’t Feel My Face, The Album-Juelz Santana and Lil Wayne

In 2009 two of Hip-Hop’s brightest stars at that time, Juelz Santana and Lil Wayne announced that they would be releasing a joint album titled I Can’t Feel My Face. Leading up to its possible release date the duo dropped several songs including the “I Can’t Feel My Face” single. But, ultimately the project never dropped. In a 2012 interview, Santana explained that Lil Wayne’s “high demand” as an artist in combination with the fact that Juelz and his boss, Cam’ron, were not seeing “eye to eye” at this point in his career hindered the production of the album.

Helter Skelter-Ice Cube and Dr. Dre

After viciously beefing throughout the early 1990s, former N.W.A. members, Dr. Dre and Ice Cube found peace by the end of 1993. This rekindled friendship led to several collaborative songs resulting in the duo creating a joint project titled, Helter Skelter. Unlike most hypothetical albums, this project was actually completed and set to release on Death Row Records. Outside of Cube and Dre, Helter Skelter featured Snoop Dogg, D.O.C., and Scarface. Yet due to the severed relationship between Death Row, D.O.C., and Dre, the album was never released and is rumored to still be in the possession of the label’s CEO, Suge Knight.

What failed collaborations are you missing right now?
