The image is a reimagining of the famous 1965 photograph of Muhammad Ali towering over Sonny Liston after scoring a first round knockdown in the WBC heavyweight championship bout.

(AllHipHop News) Taraji P. Henson was reluctant to take on the role of Cookie Lyon on TV drama “Empire” because she didn’t want to become a Hollywood stereotype.

The actress has received much praise for her portrayal of the tough music business executive in the highly-popular drama series, but when she was first approached about the role she wasn’t sure if she wanted to play Cookie, because she thought she was too similar to other characters.

“I’ve been deemed as the edgy one in Hollywood sometimes,” she told U.S. chat show The Talk on Wednesday (January 4). “In your career, when you’re building, you’re trying not to pigeonhole yourself and so I’ve been the girl in the hood, I’ve been the pregnant prostitute, I’ve done the woman that could be stereotypical and so Cookie scared me.

“But the beauty in studying the craft is you don’t judge those characters. You find a way to make people empathize. Now, if I played her loud and sassy all the time people will go, ‘She’s a stereotype’. You don’t connect, but if you play the why the person is the way that she is then the character is not a stereotype. Then you are allowed to identify with her choices because you see her as a real person.”

Taraji jumped at the opportunity to play one of the African-American mathematicians who helped launch the first U.S. space mission in “Hidden Figures,” and the 46-year-old explains she wanted to show young girls and women they can take on careers in math and science if they choose to.

“I was hurt (when I read the script) because growing up as a young girl, there was an understanding that math and science was for boys,” she continued. “So immediately I felt like a dream had been stolen from me. After I got the script I thought, ‘That’s horrible, because what if I was allowed to dream to be a rocket scientist?’ Who knows where my life would be…

“I can think back in class when you have to pick your seats all through my educational life I chose to sit in the back of the classroom when it came to math and science because it was like, ‘Well it’s not for me’,” she added. “So I was upset and I made it my mission to be a part of this film because I didn’t want another girl to ever believe that her brain cannot understand numbers and rocket science. If boys can do it, you can do it too. A brilliant mind doesn’t have a color or a gender.”

They share a common experience most people cannot relate to: getting robbed in Paris.

Naomi was on The Wendy Williams Show where she shared exclusive details for the first time about an attempted robbery in Paris back in 2012.

After she boarded a plane from Switzerland to Paris, Naomi was met by an unknown driver who set her up to be jacked by scumbag bandits.

Naomi made a decision to clutch her didn’t give it to the robbers, unlike Kim K., who’s ordeal was much more serious.

In fact, the robbers bound and gagged Kim in a bathtub, and made off with about $10 million worth of jewelry.

“I like Kim a lot she’s a very sweet person. In fact, all of them are very well mannered, very sweet, very polite,” said Naomi Campbell.

Drake’s “Views” Was The Most Popular Album In The United States In 2016

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Drake’s album Views has been named the most popular U.S. release of 2016.

The “Hotline Bling” hitmaker recently celebrated as the project notched up quadruple platinum status as it was nominated for eight Grammy Awards, and now Views has landed Drake another title, thanks to officials at data tracking firm Nielsen Music.

The album, which shot to number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 countdown in April and became the biggest-selling disc of the year, has now been crowned the most popular of the past 12 months, scoring 4.14 million in equivalent album units, with 1.61 million of that figure from physical sales.

The Nielsen poll, which tracked all releases from 1 January (16) to December (16), noted Views garnered 2.02 million in streaming hits, reports Billboard.com.

Adele’s 25, which was the top album of 2015, actually sold more physical copies than Views, but only totalled 2.37 million equivalent album units, placing her a distant second on the countdown. Meanwhile, Beyonce’s Lemonade is at three, and Rihanna’s Anti and Twenty One Pilots’ Blurryface round out the annual top five.

Shy Glizzy Talks Changing His Name To Jefe

The actor/singer admits he was drunk when the hip-hop star approached him and started to boast about his musical skills, and Jamie just thought he was a stranger looking for a career push.

Admitting he was “bad” to the young star, Foxx felt awful when he caught T.I.’s video for “U Don’t Know Me” on TV network BET – and recognized the star.

Daz Dillinger Brawls With Ricky Harris’ Cousin Over Snoop At Funeral

more details are emerging in a fight between Snoop Dogg’s bodyguards, and a man during the funeral for comedian Ricky Harris.

A fight broke out during the deceased comedian’s funeral on Tuesday (January 4), when a man who turned out to be Ricky Harris’ cousin attempted to rush snoop.

The man got to close to Snoop and called him a “bi##h ass n##ga,” before Daz Dillinger and another associate of Snoop’s immediately intervened.

The rap star’s bodyguard eventually threw Harris’s cousin out of the funeral.

According to sources, the beef with Harris’s cousin was personal, and had nothing to do with separate issues Snoop was reportedly having with the Rollin’ 20 Crips in Long Beach.

Kendrick Lamar Designs New Reeboks To Promote Unity

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Kendrick Lamar is using his new Reebok sneaker design to promote unity and equality.

The “Poetic Justice” star, who is known for his politically-charged lyrics, became a brand ambassador for the sports giant in 2014 and with his latest signature shoe for the brand, he wants to draw attention to the need for people across the world to put their differences aside and “come together”.

Kendrick’s latest creation is a new twist on Reebok’s Club C model, and features acid-washed denim in black and white on the upper part of the shoe with a red label on the sneaker’s tongue.

The Reebok branding on the side is made in all black, with the ‘k’ and ‘o’ highlighted in red to represent the hip-hop star’s nickname, “Kdot”.

“Now more than ever it is important for individuals to come together as one,” Kendrick explained in a press release. “This sneaker represents that call for unity and equality, while also pushing people to look beneath the surface and uncover the hidden messages. This is something I try to do with my music, and now here with the Club C.”

The Kendrick Lamar x Reebok Club C is set to hit retailers on January 13, when it will carry a price tag of $109.99.

The MC previously used his fashion endeavor with Reebok to pay tribute to his hometown of Compton, California with the Ventilator OG sneaker, and encourage peace among rival gangs with the Classic Leather model named Perfect Split.

The two men have been at odds over Soulja’s trolling of Karrueche Tran’s pictures on Instagram.

The whole thing has been spiraling out of control since the beef heated up on Tuesday (January 3).

Soulja has been taunting Chris and making violent threats with Piru gang members on the streets of Compton, while Chris has been on his IG blasting Soulja and Karrueche Tran.

Both men have agreed to a “celebrity boxing” match, which will be promoted by Floyd Mayweather’s TMT Promotions.

According to Soulja, he clocked a cool $1 million to agree to fight Chris Brown.

Soulja Boy Brings Chris Brown’s Baby Mama & Daughter Into The Beef

The real gotcha gotcha is that SB didn’t put the tags on the picture. Brown’s baby mama, Nia, reached deep in her petty bag and put the tags on the picture herself. Nia must still be upset that she isn’t getting that child support that she wants.

Well it looks like Floyd Mayweather has been smashing Nia, because I can’t really imagine any other reason he’d have her around other than to add to the e-feud and publicity stunt.

According to TMZ, Nia told them that the Royalty pic had nothing to do with Chris. She says she’s just been hanging with Floyd a lot lately, and Floyd is allegedly investing in Royalty’s future.

Drake Fans Want Him To Dump Jennifer Lopez For Newly Single Nicki Minaj

Meek and Nicki’s relationship came to an end today (January 5), after Nicki confirmed the break up via Twitter.

Drake’s fans are encouraging him to collaborate with Nicki Minaj, while others are urging the rapper to dump Jennifer Lopez and take a crack at Nicki, if she’s even with it.

Meek and Nicki’s relationship became a bit awkward after she began dating Meek Mill, even though the two Young Money artists have been close associates and collaborated on hits like “Moment 4 Life,” “Only” “Truffle Butter” and others.

Nicki managed to stay out of an explosive beef between Drake and Meek, after the Philly rapper went on a Twitter rampage and accused Drake of using ghost writers to create the lyrics for his songs, including “R.I.C.O.” on Meek’s own Dreams Worth More Than Money album.

And even though Drake’s second diss track “Back to Back” contained one of the quotable lines of the year (Is that a world tour or your girl’s tour?), Nicki still stayed out of Meek’s issues with other rappers, including his beef with Game and Beanie Sigel.

Meek’s defense for the most part was that a variety of rappers he’s had beef with were mostly hating on him due to his relationship with Nicki Minaj.

One fan even believed Meek and Nicki’s breakup was a sign from God for Drake, who rapped the following lines on the song “Miss Me” with Lil Wayne:

YG and DJ Mustard Accused Of Ripping Off Poet and Stiffing Him

(AllHipHop News) Hit rapper YG and producer DJ Mustard are being sued by an artist who claims YG ripped him off and stole his lyrics for his debut album, My Krazy Life.

According to a new lawsuit filed by Richard Russell, aka “Grimmis,” he befriended YG in early of 2014.

Their friendship led to an agreement which allowed YG to use some of his previously created poems to incorporate in YG’s debut My Krazy Life.

For instance, Russell claims his recited his poem “B####! Who Do You Love?” for the song “Who Do You Love,” featuring superstar rapper Drake.

While he’s thankful for his appearance on the track, Richard Russell claims he’s never been compensated for his part on the hit single.

Richard Russell also claims it was his original poem titled “The Gladiator” at the beginning of YG’s song “BickenBackBeingBool,” yet he’s never seen a dime for his efforts.

“Defendants have refused to pay Russell for any portions of his contributions and refused to discuss with him any form of compensation for his performances and literary contributions to the songs,” the lawsut reads.

Richard Russell is suing YG, DJ Mustard and Def Jam for copyright infringement and fraud and he seeks an undetermined amount of damages.

Nicki Minaj Confirms and Explains Her Break Up With Meek Mill

Rumors begin to circulate that the pair was done during the holiday weekend, because they didn’t celebrate Christmas or New Year’s eve together.

(AllHipHop Rumors) UHM. I can’t keep up with this madness but it seems like this JOKE is percolating into something. I am not sure what, but it sure is annoying. Soulja Boy has apparently signed some “contract” to fight Chris Brown aka Bhris Brown. These dudes are Piru? OK. Anyway, the videos below suggest that there is a fight brewing OR Floyd Mayweather is in on the joke. I think its the latter but I find it hard to believe that FM would allow himself to be swept up in this silliness that Mona Scott should have held onto for Love And Hip-Hop.

So, now we just have to wait for Bhris to sign the contract? Wasn’t dude SB just saying sorry?
