Baton Rouge Cop Killer Was A Sergeant In Marines; Rapper Lil Boosie Discusses Latest Bloodshed

(AllHipHop News) Rapper and former Baton Rouge resident Lil Boosie weighed in on the latest bloodshed in his hometown.

In his mind, Lil Boosie sees nothing but more violence down the road, unless there are more convictions of police who shoot and kill African-Americans.

“It’s a lot of anger down there, a lot of people are angry down there. Everybody I’m talking to when I call home they mad,” Lil Boosie told TMZ.com. “It’s just a bad position for a lot of people right now. It’s a bad position for the way we feeling down there, It’s a bad position for the police, it’s just all out craziness out there.”

Lil Boosie believes the wave of violence across the United States will only increase – especially if the officers in the latest incidents in Louisiana and Minnesota are not brought to justice.

On July 5, a bystander videotaped a Baton Rouge police officer shoot and kill 37-year-old Alton Sterling in front of a local convenience store.

Less than 24 hours later, the aftermath of Philando Castile’s murder at the hands of Minnesota police was broadcast on Facebook live and instantly went viral.

Protests ensued around the country in the following days in cities around the country including Dallas, where five police officers were killed and another seven were wounded during a Black Lives Matter protest.

Boosie sees no end to the violence in sight, until police officers are held accountable for their actions against the African-American citizens of this country.

“I don’t think it’s going to stop until they start convicting of officers of doing what they do,” Lil Boosie continued. “if they don’t start convicting these officers of what they doing is just going to keep escalating and if that guy don’t get indicted and sent to prison for life, it’s going to be another war it’s going to be another shooting is going to keep on going on because of people feel like they’re not protected by the police and the police are trying to kill him, man it’s going to get worse.”

Lil Boosie is more than familiar with the justice system in Baton Rouge.

He was arrested while he was a resident of the city multiple times on a variety of charges, from marijuana possession to murder.

Boosie eventually beat the murder charge, but he spent four years in Angola Prison on drug and probation violation charges.

Since his acquittal and subsequent release from prison, Lil Boosie has left Louisiana and has vowed to never return to the city to live, due his fame and the potential to be harassed and even framed by police officers in the state.

Lil Boosie is urging everyone across the country to “calm down and find a better way.”

Lil Boosie comments come on the heels of the deaths of three police officers, who were ambushed earlier today near the Baton Rouge police headquarters.

One suspected gunman, an African-American named Gavin Eugene Long of Kansas City, was shot and killed in a gun battle with cops.

Long was a former Sergeant in the Marines. He went on the deadly shooting spree on his 29th birthday.

“Our hearts go out to the families that are grieving, our hearts go out to the officer who is still fighting for his life. We don’t need inflammatory rhetoric, we need to temper our words and open our hearts.”

So far Montrell Jackson and Matthew Gerald have been identified, while a third officer’s identity has to be be confirmed.

Three Cops Killed In Baton Rouge; Mayor Blames Speeches At Alton Sterling’s Funeral

(AllHipHop News) Three police officers in Baton Rouge were shot and killed in a brazen attack Sunday morning (July 17).

According to reports, a man dressed in black with his face covered began shooting after he came out a convenient store near the Baton Rouge Police headquarters.

So far, three police officers were killed and seven others have been wounded in the shooting spree, which took place around 9:30am this morning.

Police have not found a suspect, and believe there is an active shooter
somewhere in the area.

The shooting comes on the heels of a funeral and protest for Alton Sterling, who was murdered in Baton Rouge on June 5 after he was shot in the back and chest by police at a store, where he regularly sold CDs.

“The rhetoric that’s been spewed from some of the people who spoken during the course of the funeral and during the course of the whole week people who want to light a fire under people, and throw gasoline on it, I have to believe some of that is related to that,” Baton Rouge Mayor Kip Holden told MSNBC during a live interview.

Just over a week ago, five police officers were shot and killed and seven
more were wounded in Dallas, Texas.

In that attack, a sniper named Micah Johnson targeted cops to kill during a
Black Lives Matter protesting the deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, who was shot and killed by police in Minnesota.

T.I. may need a little bit of help completing his new album, ‘The Dime Trap’ as he’s having a hard time deciding which tracks will make the final cut.

T.I. revealed that he has recorded over 100 songs on Big Boy’s Neighborhood radio show.

Tip also shared that he doesn’t know which direction he plans on taking the Roc Nation release yet.

“I have to pick… Let’s say 12 to 16 records out of that. I think that’s the most difficult cause you have to figure out what’s the tone. What’s the tone of the project? What’s the message? And how you want to present that energy. And they all like my kids.”

Chris Arreola Says Deontay Wilder Has The Most To Lose in Their Heavyweight Showdown

While boxing heavyweight Chris Arreola (36-4-1, 31KOs) doesn’t dispute that he is the perceived long shot when it comes to his Premier Boxing Champions battle with undefeated WBC World Heavyweight Champion Deontay Wilder (36-0, 35KOs) on July 16, 2016 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT Live on FOX from Legacy Arena in Wilder’s hometown of Birmingham, Albama, he believes that perception isn’t everything.

No, he might not deserve what will now be his third world title shot, but he’ll take it just the same. “The first time I was too young,” reminisced Arreola on his past forays into world title territory.  “The second time I got caught with a shot, but this time I’ll be ready for anything, ” stated Arreola, adding: “I want to leave a legacy behind.  When they talk about Chris Arreola, they’re going to say ‘he did it.’  I took the long road, but here we are now.”

Indeed, it has been a lengthy road for Arreola with much of it made more difficult due to his own hubris.  While Arreola has been known in his career for having a devil may/care no quit attitude in the ring, his training and preparation haven’t always fallen suit.   By his own admission, in the past some of Arreola’s fight camps have been spotty if not downright lackadaisical given Arreola’s talent.  But Arreola chalks much of this activity a to youth that he no longer wants or entertains as a seasoned veteran.  As such, as men are wont to do in regards to childish things, these self destructive traits have been discarded when it comes to Arreola’s preparation for this Saturday’s title bout: “Fighting a guy like Wilder, I have to be ready for anything.  But he has to be ready too.  I’m no slouch.  I have fire and he’s another person in my way.  I’m here to get it,” states Arreola definitively.

See our interviews below with Arreola where he describes his method for beating Wilder, as well as what motivates him now to really put his best foot forward to finally win the WBC title:

A recent article in the Fayette County News claimed that Rick Ross’s defense attorneys were deliberately stalling during the first day’s trial and moving “at a snail’s pace.”

Rick Ross’ high-powered defense attorney Steve Sadow blasted local reporters for their alleged bias.

“You speak about the defense moving at a snails pace without even mentioning that we had to overcome countless unnecessary objections and arguments just to lay the evidentiary foundations for the introduction of demonstrative evidence such as surveillance video, screenshots and photos with metadata,” Steve Sadow wrote in response to The Fayette County News’ report.

“That took nearly 2 hours but should have been stipulated to and admitted in 5 minutes!” Steve Sadow continued. “Do the great citizens of Fayette County a favor: try to be objective from here on out. It would be a refreshing change!”

The case is expected to resume next week.

Meanwhile, Rick Ross, who is facing aggravated assault, aggravated battery and kidnapping charges over the incident, took some time out of his day last week to connect with kids to share some inspirational words at a Boys & Girls Club.

The single was produced by Bemaji Tillmon and Blaqnmild, and showcases the New Orleans, Louisiana rap mogul expressing his sorrow over the outburst of police violence in the United States.

“I am saddened and disappointed that this is happening in America. I am not saying all cops are all bad, but those that commit crimes should be tried as criminals just like everyone else,” Master P. told AllHipHop.com in a statement. “For those cops that are doing great jobs in the community, they should be honored. No more paid vacations for killing people in cold blood.

Rick Ross Begins Trial For Alleged Kidnapping And Assault At Fayette County Home

(AllHipHop News) Rick Ross claimed self defense in court earlier this week, as the trial began for an alleged kidnapping and assault that was executed by Ross and his bodyguard on his Fayette County property last year.

The rapper is accused of beating and holding two service workers in his home hostage for hours, even reportedly pistol whipping one of the individuals.

Ross, born William Leonard Roberts II and his bodyguard are now facing charges of kidnapping, aggravated assault, and aggravated battery.

Investigators state that the two men threw a party on the rapper’s property without his permission prompting the attacks in a guest house.

According to reports from CBS 46, Ross is claiming self defense in hopes of receiving immunity and having all criminal charges dropped as he felt the need to protect himself and his property.

The pretrial for the incident saw witness testimonies and visual evidence presented, which included Ross’s bodyguard and co-defendant Nadrian James echoing claims of self defense in his testimony.

The MMG boss is currently on house arrest for the incident, but the is allowed to leave the house to work and perform as long as he gives the court his itinerary.

Ross’s attorney Steve Sadow is quite confident in his ability to prove his client’s innocence

“I think they’ll be a lot of doubt created as things are uncovered in the weeks and months to happen,” Steve Sadow said.

There is no word yet on when the judge will make a final decision.

T.I. Considering Name Change For Next Album

(AllHipHop News) T.I. is considering changing his rap moniker because the stage name means nothing to him.

The “Live Your Life” star began his early career using his childhood nickname Tip, but he was forced to ditch the moniker when he launched his mainstream career amid label officials’ fears he would get mixed up with A Tribe Called Quest’s Q-Tip.

“Early on in my career when I was kind of asked, or it was suggested that I should change my name, you know, it was very difficult to find something else to call myself short notice just for the purpose of rap,” he tells the Huffington Post. “Because my music was just an extension of me, so to have to create another label or name for myself was very difficult and I wasn’t very successful at it.”

LaFace Records executive Kawan Prather suggested he simply drop the ‘p’, but the rapper wasn’t convinced: “I was like, ‘Wh-wh-what (sic) the hell is a T.I.?'”

T.I., real name Clifford Harris, was reportedly told he wouldn’t be able to move forward and make music until a moniker was chosen.

“So I said, ‘Go ahead, put T.I. on there, no problem,’ and it just happened to have stuck,” he continued.

However, the hip-hop star is now eager to switch up his professional name and go back to using Tip, after releasing his 2015 EP Da’ Nic under the nickname.

It is not yet known if T.I. will use Tip again for his next album, The Dime Trap, but he is hopeful it’ll be greenlighted by label bosses.

“Now, I think just as many people know me as Tip as T.I.,” he says. “So, I guess I wanted to have people call me my actual name.”

“We made a conscious decision to have a lot more faith in the (label) operations of our art early on,” he adds. “But right now, just to be able to (go by Tip) and have it be significant and have people still care about the music being released, it’s incredibly flattering. I’m humbled, I appreciate all the love.”
