It looks like Meek Mill isn’t the least bit bothered by Joe Budden’s “F-ck Meek Mill comment,” or the fact that Budden still isn’t over Meek siccing Nicki Minaj’s Barbz fans on him to do his social media light work. Previously Budden stated that Meek had gotten soft since dating Nicki Minaj. Joe says he has a problem with Meek and any other celeb that throw stones & hide behind fans.
Meek posted a photos with a caption that contained what appears to be a few rap lyrics:
“Petty n-ggas wanna mention my name to get acknowledged …. Hoping I react like a fool and give em violence…. I rather k!ll em wit success and give em knowledge…. Before I throw it all away for a sucka cuz we the hottest… My momma crib big as a church,I’m being modest…. No sleep putting in work that’s how she got it,” rapped Meek.
We wonder if this will lead to any diss tracks. In the event that it does, who do you think would get ethered. Maybe Budden will go hard so the Barbz can stop calling him washed up.
(AllHipHop News) Rapper Drake showed off his motivational speaking talents while delivering a speech to South African youths at the Nelson Mandela Center of Memory on Monday (June 27).
The star was in Johannesburg to film the music video for his hit “One Dance,” but he took a break from working to pay a visit to kids at the late leader’s post-presidential office, which is now a museum honoring his legacy.
Drake addressed students as part of Youth Month celebrations, discussing his experience growing up in Toronto, Canada and what inspired him to follow his dreams, urging the kids to do the same.
“I encourage you to do everything you can to make the future here as bright as you possibly can,” the 29-year-old told the crowd. “We’re all young. We all have some end goal or some dream. And take it from me, I sat around for a lot of days thinking about my family, my loved ones, where I’m from and trying to make the place where I’m from proud of me. If I can do it, anyone in this room can do it.”
Drake was also given a tour of the center by Minister in the Presidency Jeff Radebe, his Deputy, Buti Manamela, and members of the Mandela family.
Deputy Minister Manamela praised the Hip-Hop star for being a positive role model for the students, telling AllAfrica.com, “We are quite grateful to him and his team to come and be part of this. This is one of the most successful artists in the world; he is an inspiration to many young South Africans.
“What is more important is that he is committing on a long standing partnership with our country.”
G-Eazy treated his fans to a new song, in celebration of the first day of his Endless Summer Tour.
G-Eazy is headlining a bill that features Logic, YG, and Yo Gotti. To build up some more buzz, the rapper just put out the song “In The Meantime,” which was produced by DJ Mustard with a guest verse from Quavo of Migos.

You will notice no reference to Eric B and only mention of Rakim, although these lyrics and these songs are by Eric B and Rakim.
This is my theory; nothing more than my opinion. You judge for yourself.
Last year Sprite dropped a commercial to promote their new hip-hop inspired Sprite soda cans urging rap fans to obey their thirst.
The soda cans in this marketing campaign featured famous rap stars and a line from their respective songs. A total of five Eric B and Rakim songs, more than any other artist or group were used. Noticeably absent from the campaign was Eric B who incidentally still owns his publishing and yes, these songs are in his catalogue. Sprite claimed these were “by Rakim”. Hip-hop fans know these were not by Rakim; they were by Eric B and Rakim. Eric B and Rakim were a duo and Rakim’s album sales post Eric B and Rakim, as a solo act, prove that you can’t have one without the other and that’s what you better know!
The cans and tag lines used were as follows:
‘Self-esteem makes me Super, Superb and Supreme’ from ‘follow the leader’ by Rakim
‘Cool, ‘cause I don’t get upset’ from ‘Microphone Flend’ by Rakim
‘Thinking of a master plan’ from ‘Paid in full’ by Rakim
‘Speak the truth’ from ‘Waiting for word to End’ by Rakim
‘My mental windows refuse to close’ from ‘Waiting for word to End’ by Rakim
This week, Sprite circled back and took an additional bite of the hip-hop apple and once again, they committed yet another monumental hip-hop atrocity via a rap inspired soda commercial. This time, a guy enters a convenience store, opens the cooler and with each Sprite can he touches, a sample of a hip hop record spins for about a second. After a little while, Rakim makes a cameo as a clerk working at the store. Potentially a glimpse into Rakim’s future if Karma is real. In this commercial, noticeably absent are two things. These two things are echoed by hundreds of fans online. First, they ask why, when the customer touches the cans, doesn’t an Eric B and Rakim song play? Pray tell…The next question, also popular on social media asks why Eric B isn’t in the commercial.
One of Hip Hop most successful and groundbreaking duos in history.
Now, let me get to my conspiracy theory. First and foremost, I ask this; does Rakim own any of his Eric B and Rakim publishing or has he sold it all? Next, I asked myself, why would Sprite seek only Rakim, one half of the duo and exclude Eric B. My theory (and my hope) is that they did not in fact intentionally exclude Eric B.
Rather, perhaps they approached Rakim, asked to have Eric B. and Rakim in the commercial and maybe Rakim or whomever handles his business affairs either did not loop Eric B in or they misinformed Sprite that Eric B was not available. As they were the intermediary facilitating the deal, they had the means to orchestrate the 52 fake out. Excluding Eric B from the commercial serves the same agenda as excluding Eric B from live performances; it means Rakim can keep the fee and not share it with his partner. (that was the motive)…Again, this is merely a theory. Perhaps as part of that tangled web he weaved, in a further effort to conceal the commercial from Eric B and ensure Rakim would take all the spot light, but more importantly, all the money, they may have run still more interference to ensure that an Eric B and Rakim song was not sampled on the commercial because doing so would have triggered a release process that surely would have made Eric B privy to it. After all, not having the song in the commercial would have no financial impact to Rakim if he does not in fact have any publishing rights at this point. Keeping the needle off the record and not using an Eric B and Rakim song in the commercial essentially kept it off of Eric B’s radar until it was past the point of no return. Only Rakim, his management and Sprite know what happened here and why a hip hop legend like Eric B was slighted.
Eric B with UFC MMA contender Aljamain Sterling
I reached out to Eric B to ask if at any time, did Rakim, his management, Sprite or any representatives thereof reached out about an appearance in a Sprite commercial and he said “no”.
(AllHipHop News) Over the weekend Chicago native Vic Mensa dropped “Free Love.” The song is a statement of support for LGBT rights and a criticism of anti-gay rhetoric.
The Fader spoke with Mensa about “Free Love.” According to the Roc Nation rapper, the coming out of a loved one played a major part in the creation of the track.
“The song ‘Free Love’ was inspired by a family member of mine who recently told me they identified as queer and also by the tragedy in Orlando,” stated Mensa.
There has long been the perception that rappers generally do not advocate on the behalf of gay people. Brand Nubian member Lord Jamar has even suggested homosexual performers do not belong in Hip Hop.
Mensa touched on the subject of homophobia in Hip Hop.
“I think rappers aren’t coming out and standing with the LGBT community because they’re scared,” proposed the There’s Alot Going On creator. “There’s such a macho, man persona that they have to make. They don’t want to have fingers pointed at them and be like, ‘You’re gay.'”
It should be noted that Hip Hop figures such as Jay Z, Kanye West, Eminem, Russell Simmons, Macklemore, A$AP Rocky, Tyler, The Creator, Fat Joe, Lil B, and others have shown support for the LGBT community.

(AllHipHop News) Jesse Williams’ powerful speech at the BET Awards has once again ignited a conversation about police brutality and social injustice in the entertainment news arena.
Pittsburgh rhymer Wiz Khalifa discussed the topics during a “20 Questions” interview with Playboy. The creator of 2016’s Khalifa and the forthcoming Rolling Papers 2 was also asked specifically about the Black Lives Matter movement.
On police brutality:
Cops there are crazy. I’ve never been pulled over without them having a gun to my head. Even with traffic stops, they’ll put a gun to your head and say, “Get the f-ck out the car. What you got?” Searching you, breaking sh-t, twisting your arm. They’re cool about weed, though. I got jammed up a lot in Pittsburgh, but I never did real time.
On the Black Lives Matter movement:
It’s about knowledge. A lot of people are surprised that this still exists, and when the media puts it out there, people get upset. But it’s about education and figuring out how to defend yourself and how to fight back and not be a victim. They victimize us because we don’t know. Body cameras? That sh-t is just to make people think we’re safe. We ain’t safe. It’s not about fighting the cops physically. You have to know how to outsmart them, and what they can and can’t do to you. That won’t make things all good, but it will help level the playing field.
(AllHipHop News) A vigil for slain Baltimore rapper Lor Scoota ended with three arrests for disorderly conduct Monday night (June 27).
According to reports from The Baltimore Sun, Police Commissioner Kevin Davis said the vigil was peaceful, until a few individuals got things riled up.
“There came a time when a few agitators decided to throw bricks and bottles at police officers,” Davis said. “That’s not going to happen in Baltimore.”
The vigil began around 5 p.m. and after 8 p.m. the crowd had swelled into Pennsylvania Avenue, which prompted dozens of police cars and vans to arrive on the scene, ordering the crowd to disperse.
The commands were ignored, leading to nearly 40 police officers to line up shoulder to shoulder in an ensuing standoff with the crowd which lasted nearly two hours.
There are reports that there were people shouting taunts and dancing at the police line and that at one point men in masks rode dirt bikes past the police line.
