(AllHipHop News) Justin Timberlake, Tyler The Creator, and Chad Hugo were guests on a recent episode of Pharrell Williams and Scott Vener’s Beats 1 Radio show OTHERtone. Video of the conversation has now been uploaded to YouTube. The clip included the entertainers discussing being inspired by A Tribe Called Quest.
“I don’t know who Chad would say was his influence in slamming those elements together, but for me it was Q-Tip and Tribe. That Low End Theory man,” said Pharrell about his production with The Neptunes.
Vener then asked about their relationship with ATCQ member Phife Dawg. Pharrell spoke about how when he was working with Timbaland, he believed Magoo sounded like Tip and he sounded like Phife.
“I sounded terrible, but in my mind at that time, you couldn’t tell me anything. Just because of what Tribe represented to me. That was the birth of my personal interest,” stated Pharrell.
Chad added, “The thing that did it for me for A Tribe Called Quest with their music was their love for Jazz.”
In addition, Tyler and Timberlake reflected on their experiences working with and watching The Neptunes create tracks. JT also commented on collaborating with the production duo for his debut solo album Justified.
(AllHipHop News) Willie D is a member of one of the greatest Hip Hop groups of all time. The man born Willie James Dennis rose to prominence as part of the platinum selling Geto Boys by releasing authentic and honest street music.
That straightforward approach was extended in Willie D’s new single “Coon.” On the song, the Houston native calls out famous individuals such as Stacey Dash, Charles Barkley, Raven-Symoné, Stephen A. Smith, and Don Lemon. During an interview with Sway In The Morning, Willie D addressed calling those African-American celebrities coons.
“Their job is to regurgitate the sentiments of white supremacy. That’s why they get hired,” expressed Willie. “Why is it that they don’t have white, Hispanic, or Asian people hired to basically disparage their communities also? They don’t have anybody else that does that.”
He continued, “Every time there’s an issue in the black community they have these house Negroes and Sambos go out [and say,] ‘I think this…’ They always go with the side of the oppressor. They always side with the cops. They always side with the person who is accused of doing wrong to the black community or a black person. You know why? They can’t say anything else or they would be fired.”
Willie D also suggested African-Americans should make it “unsafe” for “coons” to travel within the black community. The “Clean Up Man” rapper defined a coon as someone whose criticism of the black community outweighs their contribution to the black community.
(AllHipHop News) More details are emerging in the shooting of Philadelphia rapper Quilly Millz.
The rapper was shot at least once in the upper torso area, a source that wished to remain anonymous told AllHipHop.com.
The source said that Quilly, who had been staying in Atlanta for a time, was in stable condition, and is expected to recover.
It’s not exactly clear where in Philadelphia he was injured, or if Quilly was one of the four people shot during a triple homicide over the weekend, but he was struck by gunfire during the violence.
While the motive for Quilly’s shooting is not yet known, a source confirmed that he was the rapper on camera being beaten in a recording studio last week in a video posted on DJ Akademik’s Instagram page.
Quilly seemed to address some issues with his label On Dek on a remix to Desiigner’s song “Panda” last week. On the track, he announced that he was going solo.
On Dek rapper and Philadelphia veteran S####-O released a remix titled “Who Shot Ya,” which dropped about two days ago via his Instagram.
There is no confirmation if S####-O’s reply was directed at Quilly as of press time.
Also it’s extremely important to note this is no implication of On Dek, even though the timing may be odd, as noted by the replies on S####-O’s Instagram post announcing the song.
S####-O had been releasing songs like these since February, when he started dropping tracks from a mixtape titled “50 Shades of S####-O.”

(AllHipHop News) Earlier today it was reported that Atlanta rapper, ILoveMakonnen is leaving Drake’s OVO imprint.
While the specifics were not revealed initially, Warner Bros. Records provided AllHipHop with a statement by Makonnen himself.
“I cannot thank OVO, 40, Oliver, Future & Mr. Morgan, enough for all that they have done for my career. No words can express how much I appreciate Drake for being a part of the success of Tuesday. I’m sure the haters will have something negative to say, but all in all my choice to be solely on Warner Bros. Records was the right thing for me and for my best interest. Sorry there’s no beef to report, DRINK MORE WATER.” – ILOVEMAKONNEN
Going forward Makonnen will be on Warner Bros. Records but will not be associated with the OVO Sound.
In September of 2014, ILoveMakonnen took the Hip-Hop world by storm with his song “Tuesday” that featured Drake.
Drake has been mum on the topic of Makonnen over the past year, never commenting publicly on the Drink More Water 6 album released just a few weeks ago via Warner/OVO Sound.
Look out for Makonnen on tour with Lil B this Summer.
In another instance of Hollywood deciding through it’s actions that smart money hires a Caucasian star to play a bad ass minority, it has been leaked that Paramount Pictures, already in hot water for casting the very European actress Scarlett Johansson to play lead character Major Motoko Kusanagi in the live action remake of the hugely successful Japanese anime franchise “Ghost In The Shell,”screen tested post production digital effects to make white actors look more Asian.
This revelation, which was initially reported by ScreenCrush, citing “multiple independent sources close to the project,” as their reliable source, has since been picked up by many other news outlets including Business Insider, Esquire, Jezebel and IndieWire to name a few.
Originally it had been reported by ScreenCrush that the tests were conducted by Lola VFX, the same company that dramatically aged Brad Pitt for the movie “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.” However in a recent update to that original ScreenCrush report, it has been noted that Lola VFX, via it’s managing director Thomas Nitmann has denied the involvement of the A-list visual effects house in these tests. However, Paramount Pictures, while making the clarification that they never did tests on Johansson does admit that they did order doing these controversial visual effects tests on a background actor involved in the film. Furthermore, as initially reported in ScreenCrush and elsewhere, upon seeing the test results, Paramount “ultimately discarded” the tests and have no future designs to use the technology on Johannson, who is of Danish and Polish descent, or any other actor in the movie.
SickDaPunchLiner has teamed up with Chicago Rap Juggernaut King Louie on the high powered single “IDKU.”
While we haven’t heard much from King Louie since he was shot multiple times in Chicago, this song is one of Louie’s first times talking about the shooting on a song.
In the 12 bar verse, Louie touches on the shooting rapping “Shot to the face so def is no doubt.”
This new single with SickDaPunchLiner is a clear indication that King Louie is coming back and has no qualms with speaking on the shooting that nearly took his life.
300 Ent’s Rich the Kid drops his new mixtape, ‘Trap Talk.” The project is a highly anticipated one despite the phrases overuse and features appearances from Migos, Ty Dolla $ign, Kodak Black, 21 Savage and Playboi Carti.
Dza laces up the fans with a new joint just in time for 4/20. This project is produced by famed producer Flying Lotus and features 3 new songs, “Outside My Mind,” “4-19-2026″ and “Petty Murphy.”
The art for the short project is a highly suggestive political cartoon that uses Bernie Sanders on face card from a deck of playing cards.
No word on Smoke Dza’s political affiliation, but he is likely backing anyone that promotes weed and its benefits. Listen below!
(AllHipHop News) This past week Rick Ross was among several rappers to attend President Barack Obama’s meeting for his My Brother’s Keeper Initiative.
While at the meeting the MMG boss’ ankle monitor went off reportedly startling some in attendance.
According to TMZ, President Obama had just concluded speaking on his initiative that looks to keep Black males out of jail.
The monitor must be worn by Ricky Rozay in order to meet the terms of his release amidst alleged kidnapping and assault charges.
Ross was previous indicted on egregious offenses, including kidnapping, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and possession of a firearm while committing a crime.

(AllHipHop News) G-Unit rapper Kidd Kidd and his lyrics have come under fire as federal prosecutors allege Kidd Kidd is an “agent” to the murderous New Orleans street gang the 39ers.
In the initial hearings it was revealed that the G-Unit rapper’s lyrics are being used to prosecute members of a 9th ward gang that claims “The G Strip” area surrounding Third and Galvez streets in New Orleans.
Little did tourists in the French Quarter know that just a few miles East, an infamous gang was taking over the 9th ward.
“Yo, ho, you wanna ride a gang 39er/ so that’s why her old man can’t find her,” Kidd Kidd raps on the controversial song “G.T.O.” by QP.
In the video members of the 39ers wear t-shirts that say “3NG We DA Best Team 39’ers,” while Kidd Kidd raps his verse.
At one point in the video, Gregory “Rabbit” Stewart, who has claimed several murders and is a cooperating with prosecutors, can be seen with his arm around Kidd Kidd with gun at the waist.
The federal case against the 39ers was being built by prosecutors as early as 2009 and spanned over a two-year time.
During that time the feds reportedly watched the 39ers push heroin to the streets of New Orleans and beyond, while also committing a host of violent crimes to go along with the murders.
While alleging that Kidd Kidd’s affiliation helped build up the name of the 39ers, prosecutors are not looking to charge Kidd Kidd or QP.
“There’s a public relations aspect of this organization, including intimidation,”Assistant U.S. Attorney Myles Ranier said, “keeping potential victims and witnesses in fear of the enterprise.”
This isn’t the first time a rapper’s lyrics have been used in a murder trial.
Back in 2012 Lil Boosie’s lyrics were used against him in a first degree murder trail that didn’t hold up as Boosie beat the case.
More news on this story as it develops as the trial is now set for September.
Although fans don’t know much about Drake’s highly anticipated ‘Views From The 6’ album, they know more thanks to English rapper Skepta! Skepta recently spoke with Zane Lowe on Beats 1 and revealed that he may be appearing on ‘Views’. According to Skepta, him and Drake have been working on new music that seems to fit Drake’s album more than his own.
“We’re trying to do something for his record,” Skepta said. “It makes more sense to be on his record rather than mine.”
Skepta and Zane Lowe also discussed the rapper’s relationship with Drake as Lowe compared their chemistry to the dynamic between Jay Z and Kanye West. Skepta said that their bond formed from an introduction at a party, and from there, the two began discussing music and sharing ideas on what they were working on in the studio. He also revealed that Drake’s signing to Boy Better Know is official. What are your thoughts?
We all know that Timbaland has a knack for finding talent. Many regard him as the backbone for the whole late 90’s Virginia movement that occurred with Missy Elliott, Genuine and many others.
But with many new acts and movements stemming out of “The 7 Cities” of VA, Livehouse ENT Hip-Hop artists Young Crazy & Breeze Barker have linked up with Timbaland for some heavy production on their project Sharks x Pistols. The project is seen as an “ode” to Virginia and the lifestyle of the Sharks & Pistols as it pays homage to 2 major cities of Virginia in which both rappers reside, Norfolk (Shark City) and Portsmouth (Pistol City).
But check out the producers they got for this one. Production comes from super-producer and mentor, Timabaland, Milli Beatz of Timbaland Productions, Fade Majah of Team Timbo, Lex Luger, Kino Beats, Ready Rock, D4 and more.
Standout records include the leading track, “Come & Get It,” the latest visual follow-up, “How I Got It”, & Timbaland x Milli Beatz co-produced hits, “Too Virginia” and “Callin & Callin” (featured on Timbaland’s latest mixtape King Stays King).
