Real sisters! French Montana recently stopped by The Breakfast Club to talk forthcoming music, new endeavors, and living the good life. French tried to talk about the business side, but that didn’t stop Charlamagne, DJ Envy, and Angela Yee for digging into his personal business. Charlamagne reminded French that he had a line on his album that said,
“Why did I hit her when I know that they both was sisters?”
DJ Envy said, “Khloe and who else?” Charlamagne guessed Kylie, and Angela chimed in saying that half-sisters was okay. The Breakfast Club caught French looking extra uncomfortable during this interrogation process. French didn’t help the situation when he said shout out to Khloe & Kylie. That sounded like a confirmation. LOL. What two sisters do you think French hit?
Multiple reports have claimed that bad girl Rihanna pulled out of her much anticipated Grammys performance due to bronchitis. According to Page Six, an exclusive source is singing a different tune. An inside source claims that Ri pulled out last minute out of fear of giving a bad performance. The source claims she rehearsed twice, but all of a sudden backed out after seeing Kendrick Lamar’s performance. One of their sources said,
“She felt like her performance couldn’t compare (to some of the other artists), and she was trying to avoid the embarrassment because she knew it wasn’t the right comeback performance.”
Another source said her performance would have certainly been “underwhelming”. Well after seeing Kendrick Lamar’s performance, RiRi twerking and slow whining with limited vocal range just wasn’t gonna cut it. We still love you Ri! What do you think of Rihanna cancelling her performance?
Wendy Williams is always going in, so her recent comments on Rihanna come to no one’s surprise. Rihanna’s “Work” earned her another No.1, her 14th No. 1 single to be exact. The song walks a thin line between catchy and annoying, but, here’s what Wendy had to say,
“Rihanna will not be a legend. Beyonce will do her residency in Vegas at 55-years-old and you will go see it. Rihanna will attempt to do it but as soon as she gets up there and says the “B” word better have my money. Rihanna is good for right now, but she’s not a legend.”
Many feel that some of Rihanna’s music tends to lack enough substance and depth to qualify for her to have legendary status. She may become a legend in her own right, but some of her music pales in comparison to the Michael Jacksons, Princes etc of the world. What are your thoughts?
In the premiere episode of Marijuana Mania, Berner takes you on an exclusive trip to the Cookie Fam’s farm to talk breeding and then it’s off to the 3rd Generation Family farm during harvest season to get an inside look at what it actually takes to create some of best strains the world has ever smoked.
When you are an OG in the game, you can get as “Durdy” as you want. Such is the case of Juicy J who has reinvented his career time and time again. From Three 6 Mafia to Taylor Gang, Juicy J is a staple in Hip-Hop. As are the producers on this track Sonny Digital & Metro Boomin, who lace Juicy J with a track that’s just as “Durdy” as Juicy’s lyrics.
These are arguably two of the most poppin acts in NYC right now. And despite the fact that Rocky and French probably spend most of their time on the road or in LA, this is a big song for NYC. Lets see where this one goes!
Rich Homie Quan recently delivered an epic freestyle for Tim Westwood. The people have since responded with their unfiltered thoughts. Following the scathing critique the “Type Of Way” rapper has voiced his perspective.
In a screenshot preserved by DJ Akademiks,Rich Homie Quan, demonstrated his disdain. He wrote, “It was just a freestyle u idiots a 17 minute one at that.” The Atlanta artist then challenged, “Yo average artist gone spit a written verse social media is the devil, but it comes wit the territory. Either u wit me or not I really don’t give a fuxk. But wen March come, don’t b dixk riding #StayTuned.”
With The Life of Pablo making headlines, but not breaking into the Billboard Top 10, Kanye took to Hollywood’s 1Oak to preview his new song, “Closest Thing To Einstein.” The video is a bit rough, but you can def make out a few good lines from the song. Check it out below!
ESGN presents a dope new visual from Freddie Gibbs as he pays homage to The Jacka. In a deep intro to the video, Freddie visits The Jacka’s mural in The Bay and raps about the struggles of making that money in the streets.
Kanye West is not letting it go. He insists that Amber Rose did not stick 2 or more fingers in his body cavity. “That bish ain’t stick no fingers in my a$$ I don’t play that there! Stop!” Kanye stay with the rants! Some people are tired of Kanye, but just get used to it. Everything dude does is a headline news piece.
Blazing Twitter, Instagram, and Vine with his viral “Damn Daniel” video, the man behind the cellphone and “Daniel” made a few more waves outside of social media. He apparently drew the attention of TV host and comedienne favorite Ellen Degeneres for a segment on her day show!
(AllHipHop News) Even though many music executives predicted the Jay Z led entertainment platform Tidal would fold in under a year, the service may have finally found its footing in the competitive streaming marketplace. Thanks in part to fellow artist-owner Kanye West.
TMZ reports Kanye’s latest album The Life Of Pablo set a streaming record for the service and the Tidal exclusive project helped the company more than double its subscribers to 2.5 million users. Tidal crossed the one million mark last September.
Kanye premiered TLOP during his “Yeezy Season 3” fashion show/listening session at New York City’s Madison Square Garden earlier this month. The event was streamed live on Tidal, and over 20 million people around the world tuned in.
Since Jay Z, Kanye, Rihanna, Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, Usher, J. Cole, Nicki Minaj, and several other music stars revealed the revamped Tidal service in May 2015, notable entertainers such as Lil Wayne and Damien Marley have signed on as artist-owners as well.
While the company seems to be attracting new users, Tidal is still far behind its streaming competitors as far as total number of subscribers. Spotify is the industry leader with reportedly close to 25 million paid subscribers. Apple Music is said to have over 10 million paid subscribers in more than 100 countries.
Tidal has also faced significant turnover at the executive level. In December, Jeff Toig was named the company’s third CEO in less than a year. After his hiring, Toig told Billboard, “I spent a lot of time with Jay during the interview process and he’s an incredibly talented and visionary businessman and he is deeply committed to Tidal. This isn’t a short-term play. This is a long-term investment.”
In usual Kanye-tirade fashion, Mr. West made sure to let fans know at 1 Oak nightclub on Feb. 23 that he absolutely, positively did not let Amber Rose play in the booty area. “That b*tch ain’t never stick her fingers in my a**!,” West said among the crowd. “I don’t play like that!”
(AllHipHop News) Several high-profile entertainers will be spending their Oscar night on Sunday raising money for the victims of the Flint Water Crisis. Acclaimed filmmaker Ryan Coogler (Fruitvale Station, Creed) is using his Blackout for Human Rights organization to host the star-studded affair at Flint’s The Whiting Auditorium.
The goal of the free event is to promote solidarity and support for the communities affected by the lead poisoning in Flint, Michigan. #JusticeForFlint will feature live musical performances from Flint native Jon Connor as well as Royce Da 5’9″, Vic Mensa, Denaun Porter, Jasiri X, Mysonne, Janelle Monae, Jussie Smollett, Robert Glasper, Ledisi, Andra Day, and Musiq Soulchild.
Selma director Ava DuVernay and Grey’s Anatomy star Jesse Williams are set to be on hand as well. Comedian Hannibal Buress will serve as master of ceremonies.
“With the #JusticeForFlint benefit event we will give a voice to the members of the community who were the victims of the choices of people in power who are paid to protect them, as well as provide them with a night of entertainment, unity, and emotional healing,” Ryan Coogler told BuzzFeed. “Through the live stream we will also give a chance for people around the world to participate, and to donate funds to programs for Flint’s youth.”
While the charity gathering is scheduled to take place the same night as the Academy Awards ceremony, Coogler contends the overlap was not an intentional display of support for the #OscarsSoWhite boycott. The 29-year-old California native – who many observers felt was snubbed for a Best Director Oscar nod this year for Creed – says the date was chosen because it fell on the final weekend of Black History Month.
Blackout for Human Rights teamed with other sponsoring individuals and organizations based in Flint such as Michigan Faith In Action and Flint Democracy Defense League. Additional sponsors include REVOLT TV, the Campaign for Black Male Achievement, Color of Change, All Def Digital, ARRAY, and the International Longshore & Warehouse Union (ILWU) Local 10.
Blackout for Human Rights is a collective of filmmakers, artists, activists, and concerned citizens that devote their resources to address human rights violations in the United States. Members include founder Coogler, Michael B. Jordan, Charles King, Ava DuVernay, Jesse Williams, Nate Parker, John Burris, Donald “Childish Gambino” Glover, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Rosa Clemente, Scott Budnick, David Oyelowo, Michael McBride, and many others.
#JusticeForFlint is scheduled for Sunday, February 28 at 5 pm. The showcase will stream live on revolt.tv, Donations will be collected at the event and via text. For more information visit the Blackout for Human Rights Facebook page.
(AllHipHop News) Kendrick Lamar is definitely having his moment right now. The Compton emcee just won five Grammy awards and his To Pimp A Butterfly album has been heralded as the musical voice of the Black Lives Matter movement. One New York city rapper seems to believe the overwhelming acknowledgement for Kendrick’s style of Hip Hop is playing a role in preventing the rise of street rap to the mainstream.
While Kendrick does address gang activity and the struggles of urban America in his music, he also incorporates production and lyrical content that differ from a lot of modern-day street-centered rap. French Montana stopped by The Breakfast Club this week, and the Coke Boys leader was asked for his thoughts on why Kendrick’s albums sell more than projects featuring street music.
“Because they position [Kendrick], like how they did at the Grammys, as the new music. It’s not that it’s not the right thing to do, but you see like the whole thing was Kendrick night,” responded French. “That [To Pimp A Butterfly] album don’t sound like nothing that’s out – the whole Hip Hop.”
He added, “I feel like they just position you as the new face of Hip Hop… They put him on that platform so they can shift music towards that direction.”
(AllHipHop News) Karen Civil is catching the wrath of Cam’ron. The Dipset general used his Instagram page to blast Civil for her recent comments on the Tax Season podcast. Civil told Taxstone that Jay Z and Cam had issues years ago over a parking space outside the Def Jam offices. Cam says that is a lie.
I’ve haven’t went in on Karen ever and been proud of what she’s accomplished.. Even if she’s lied and stole to get there.. But u not gonna put me in ya bullsh*t.. Despite what people think Jay-Z and I were not enemies.. He signed off on mad projects we did.. When he didn’t have too.. And showed my crew love.. It wasn’t till I Left DefJam (not kicked out) till we fell out..and I still respect his hustle and business savvy.. And what he’s accomplished.. With that out the way.. Karen civil worked for me and never gave us a shoutout or anything.. And that’s fine.. But don’t LIE.. I never got kicked out of anywhere.. LA Reid was kind enough to let me out the deal once he got to def jam.. Cause I had a 5 million dollar deal waiting for me at Warner bros.. And LA Reid begged me to stay.. But I had to grab that bag.. (Thx LA) this story Karen is telling is just another one of her lies..she stole 60k from my cousin @darealdukedagod (and we still have all the bank statements if u wanna Pursue this KAREN) and has yet to pay him back.. And it’s my money as well cause it was from my company.. I don’t want or need ya money.. But u should have payed duke back by now.. But since u wanna lie.. I’ll pull everything out.. And put u on blast!! Stop lying and stealing.
(AllHipHop News) Kanye West once again took to Twitter to express his frustration. This time his target was Canadian music producer Bob Ezrin. The 66-year-old industry veteran – best known for working with Alice Cooper, Kiss, and Pink Floyd – recently wrote a biting critique of West.
In the newsletter, Ezrin suggested that Kanye West is not as talented or valuable of an artist as Jay Z, Tupac, The Notorious B.I.G., M.C. Hammer, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, or Macklemore. At one point he said, “Instead Kanye’s greatest achievements have been in the form of excessive behavior, egomaniacal tantrums and tasteless grandstanding.”
Kanye got wind of Ezrin’s statement and fired back on social media. The rant included the “Ultralight Beam” performer posting, “I’m tired of old people that have no connection with anything trying to comment on music!
Ye’s tweet spree also had at slight shot at Taylor Swift. Kanye wrote, “I made Dark Fantasy and Watch the Throne in one year and wasn’t nominated for either and you know who has 2 albums of the year.”
Swift recently won her second Grammy award for Album Of The Year (Fearless, 1989), but Kanye has been shut out in the category three times (The College Dropout, Late Registration, Graduation).
The AOTY Grammy reference in Ye’s tweet seems like critical commentary of the fact that Swift has won 2 times while he has yet to be rewarded with the honor. Recently, the two superstars once again had issues with each other over lyrics in Kanye’s song “Famous.”
During French Montana’s Breakfast Club appearance, Charlamagne throws out a questionable lyric where the New York rapper brags about smashing two sisters on his recent album. Considering his highly-publicized relationship with Khloe Kardashian, it led a few to wonder whether he may have been referencing one of her sisters. Despite Charlamagne suggesting Kylie may have been the sister-in-question, French pleads the fifth, laughing it off as he told the Breakfast Club that they are like family to him.
Backstage at Chief Keef’s performance, a young fan got to meet the Chi-Town rap star, which literally sent him into tears. In the video, Sosa is seen comforting him in a consoling embrace as he tells him “I ain’t get the chance to be nothing but a rapper.” He then encourages the fan to stay in school and top even more success than Sosa himself!
According to TMZ, NFL defensive end Dante Fowler allowed the mother of his child and reported girlfriend to fight as he watched without interference. The incident happened on Feb. 1 after Fowler and his girlfriend were confronted by the mother of his child. After what appeared to be a few words exchanged between the three, one of the women kicks off her shoes and grabs the other as Fowler backs up to watch the altercation.
