Cali native Jay Blaze has written a song for the ages with #HaterzStayBack, the title track of his recently released EP. The hashtag has literally gone viral many times over as people create memes for their own ‘haterz’ topic dujour to share across their socials. This inspired Jay Blaze to make t-shirts bearing the hashtag and the response has been overwhelming.
DJ Hustle caught up with Migos on the Red Carpet at the BET Awards. New music drops on July 31st it’s going down. The Carpet was so crazy and very hot with celebrities. Migos our catalog is really deep we want to work with JAY Z.
Kevin Gates is no stranger to talking about his sexual desires and rendezvous. He even once revealed he was sleeping with his cousin at one time, and he had no intention on stopping. It seems like Gates now wants a threesome with Angela Simmons! When a fan asked him what about his girlfriend, he replied saying that the two of them were going to get Angela together! We hardly think Gates is Simmons’ type!
They say time flies when you’re having fun and in the month of June Young Gii has released a string of new bangers. Gii drops another brand new record “Beast Mode” feat. BK. The record is also produced by C-Sick, who has produced previous works for his fellow Chicago native.
It seems like Waka Flocka used to be a Kendrick Lamar hater! But how can you hate on Kendrick?!? K. Dot has been killing the game lately. It looks like Kendrick has won Waka over now as Waka tweeted that he’s had Kendrick’s To Pimp A Butterfly album on repeat. Waka may just be trying to get a collaboration going.
An Australian architecture firm will be bringing a Beyonce-inspired skyscraper to the streets of Melbourne. According to Dezeen Magazine, the Australian firm Elenberg Fraser has gotten the approval to construct a 226-meter high (68 story) building inspired by looks from Beyonce’s “Ghost” video.
The women in the “Ghost” video who were fully wrapped in fabric and showing their curvaceous features is mimicked by the building’s design. The skyscraper, which does not have a set finish date, will have 660 apartments as well as a 160-room hotel.
The building will be located at the west end of Melbourne’s central business district.
This past Fourth of July weekend, Grammy award-winning artist Lil Wayne performed at LiFE Nightclub inside the SLS Las Vegas celebrating Independence Day and the release of his brand new Free Weezy Album. The Young Money mogul kicked off the party with a warm welcome to crowd, including legendary rapper DMX, who received a special shout out during the show.
At 2:30 a.m., Lil Wayne performed his hit singles “I’m Goin In,” “Sorry For The Wait,” “Money Power Respect,” “Coco,” “Wasted,” “Truffle Butter,” “Got Money” and more. The packed crowd immediately went wild as he dropped his long-awaited album, hyping up fans with two new songs that had never been heard before. After his performance, Lil Wayne retreated to his VIP booth, where he and his crew danced and popped bottles of Ciroc Peach and Dom Perignon.
Also in attendance, professional basketball player Lamar Odom and chart-topping rapper O.T. Genasis were seen partying at their VIP tables until the early morning hours. Check out the pics below:
“If it wasn’t for RUN-D.M.C. I wouldn’t be rapping, says Willie D, of the classic collective, Geto Boys. As he continues, reflective nostalgia encompasses his sentiment, “That was the group that influenced me to want to get into the game. I wrote my first rap right after listening to a Run-D.M.C. song; because, I was challenged. Somebody challenged me to say, ‘Hey, man; I think you can’t do that.’ I went in the house and I put my best flow– it was an imitation of Run-D.M.C. I had put together – and I came out a rapper. And, I have been rapping ever since. That’s the group that’s had the greatest influence on me. If it wasn’t for them then I wouldn’t be in the game.”
Recently, the legendary MC was challenged to deliver his list of Hip-Hop groups that he considers to be the Top 5 Dead Or Alive. Contemplation momentarily snatched his words; the Houston icon paused while he considered arduous the task. “As far as groups, you know, it’s hard to say. It’s a matter of taste. My personal taste for groups – that’s why this Top 5 sh*t, this Top 10 sh*t – is f**ked up. It’s a matter of opinion,” sincerity wrapped his statement. Soon after, Willie D worked to illuminate his decision-making process and added, “It’s a hard thing to do, when you think of influence. I can’t stop at five; I can’t. It’s too many f**king great groups out there that’s made their impact.”
With that, he delivered a respectful nod to both Run-D.M.C. and Boogie Down Productions, who he considers to be just as paramount as the following list of 10 groups which have impacted the genre. These are the chosen few who have earned the distinction of being characterized as the ones to leave a resounding imprint upon the culture. In no particular order, the following groups represent Willie D’s opinion.
OUTKAST
Outkast made it cool for rappers to get outside the box and experiment with different sounds, and elements of Hip-Hop.
WU-TANG CLAN
Think about what I’m saying. How you gonna do a Top 5 and not include Wu-Tang? You can’t; we’re talking influence, we’re talking longevity, we’re talking catalogue. You can’t leave them off that list.
N.W.A.
You can’t take N.W.A. off the list, because they kicked the door in for Gangsta Rap.
DE LA SOUL
You can’t take De La Soul off that list. You can’t do that; it ain’t right. The sh*t is not right. You can’t take them off that list.
SALT-N-PEPA
You can’t take Salt-N-Pepa off the list, because they influence a whole legion of female rappers to get into the game. They stand atop that hill by themselves. There is no other group, especially girl’s group that even comes close. You can’t dismiss them.
PUBLIC ENEMY
You can’t take Public Enemy off the list, because they kicked the door in for Conscious Rap.
U.G.K.
When you think of substance, longevity, and influence, you can’t leave U.G.K. off a list. You can’t, you can’t – a lot of the cats that are kicking it right now – they were U.G.K. babies. So, you can’t take them off the list. You got to put them in there.
MOBB DEEP
You can’t keep Mobb Deep off that list!
ONYX
Even the way that Onyx came in, and they opened up the door for artists – for groups – to start looking at acting. ‘You know what, we might need to take this sh*t a little further than just music. I think I can do this acting sh*t.’
GETO BOYS
The Geto Boys is in my Top 5. You can’t take us off the list, because we kicked – you know—we opened up the doors, the floodgates for the South. And now the South is the dominate force in Hip-Hop. We were able to strike a balance of being political and being socially conscious.
THE SIDEBAR
I can only say that when I think of great artists – well even groups, period, anybody – I think of longevity. I think of catalogue. I think of influence. I think of subject matter; that’s what I think of. What have you done; have long have you done it? What does your catalogue look like? Some people hear a rapper and he comes out one year and he’s the greatest rapper ever. He got two albums and everybody already declared that he’s the greatest rapper ever.
And I know it’s unpopular to say, but Biggie is not a better rapper to me than 2Pac was. He don’t have the catalogue. Yeah, he was great for two albums – two and a half albums – who knows what he would have done if he could have done 10 more albums. But, when I back him up against 2Pac, there’s zero comparison. There’s no comparison when you look at the catalogue.
It’s like comparing a brand new soft drink to Coca Cola. There’s a brand new soft drink that everybody loves the hell out of, and they’re drinking it; everybody, everywhere! It’s only been on the market for two years, you can’t compare that to Coca Cola, a company that’s been on the market for over 100 plus years, consistently. In my opinion, it’s the greatest f**king drink that’s ever been invented. Coca Cola is better than alcohol to me. It’s better than water; that’s some good as sh*t.
When you compare the two, you think of substance, you think of input, you think of catalogue, you think of longevity. They had about the same about of longevity; both of them died young. But, when you think of catalogue and you think of subject matter – again—subject matter is a matter of taste, in my opinion. Biggie, was more –people like to say lyricist—I don’t like to use that word. If you write a song then you’re a lyricist. Lyricism is code for like a fly dude; somebody that’s fly, and how he uses words and how he puts the words together. Fly, slick, smooth with the words or whatever, I guess that’s their definition of a lyricist. Delivery, they salute the way they deliver their words, or whatever.
It’s two different styles, you know, ‘Pac had – he was deeper – there was much more substance. His catalogue was deeper. Both of them were consistent for the time that they were here. 2Pac had a deeper catalogue and was consistent, and that’s why I consider ‘Pac to be up there standing on top of that mountain like that. – Willie D
As you know Meek Mill and Joe Budden got into it recently over Joe Budden’s comments on Meek and Nicki Minaj’s relationship. Budden feels that Meek Mill’s music is too hard for him to be acting all sappy with Minaj. Interestingly enough, Joe Budden told Meek that he doesn’t rap well enough to go this route with him! Wow! Who’s the better rapper in your opinion Joe or Meek?
There may be some R&Beef between Miguel and Frank Ocean. In a recent interview with The Sunday Times, the Wildheart crooner shed he and Ocean are not exactly BFFs and that he isn’t his biggest fan either.
“I wouldn’t say we were friends,’ said the west coast native. ‘To be completely honest — and no disrespect to anyone — I genuinely believe that I make better music, all the way around.”
Miguel has never been too fond of Frank because at the end of the day he says they still are competitors. When Frank Ocean won the award for Best Urban Contemporary Album at the 2013 Grammys, Chris Brown was not the only one who didn’t give the “Novacane” singer a standing ovation. Miguel also remained seated as he took his loss.
His latest release, Wildheart, is in stores now and available on iTunes.
New Jersey’s TwonDon connects with Florida native Bizzy Crook to bring listeners an anthem for the summer. The two rappers display their lyrical abilities on the new collaboration “Run It.” Evan Haynes handled the production, and Brandon Lee mixed the track.
TwonDon tells AllHipHop.com:
I’ve always been a fan of Bizzy Crook musically, and I told him that as well when we first met each other. A lot of the subjects he touches on, I struggled and dealt with, so I always related. So to have a record with him is really a blessing. I feel like we’re both diverse and know how to balance our music, so when I recorded “Run It,” he’s the first person I thought of. I sent it out and got it back within a few days. Between the process we stayed in touch, and he’s probably one of the most humble people you’ll meet. Now we have this summer anthem on our hands… “Run It”!
It seems as if Khloe Kardashian is a big Trina fan. Well it’s less about Trina’s music and more about Trina’s taste in men. As we know Khloe “took” French Montana from Trina, and now Khloe is rumored to be dating James Harden, who Trina once dated. Trina tweeted, “Sloppy seconds.” It sounds like she’s talking about Khloe! It doesn’t seem like either of these ladies would’ve wanted to date French though, so how did they end up with him?!
Due to the deaths of black men like Mike Brown, Eric Garner and many others, rappers have felt the need to speak out about police brutality plaguing black communities. Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole took their frustrations about the tension between the cops and people of color to the booth, but A$AP Rocky said he does not see the need to discuss this issue in his music.
During his appearance at Oxford University in London, he said that putting in his two cents about the issue is not important to him.
“I don’t feel like anyone is obligated to talk about that kind of stuff unless they want to,” he said. “I don’t feel like everybody has to be like Kendrick or talk about political things just to try to stand out… For me, I wasn’t there when [the police brutality incidents] occurred, on top of that, I didn’t go to any marches. I didn’t go to any protests. So, for me, I can’t speak on it because I’m not helping to change it. I didn’t figure out a way through my art if I felt like it was something I should talk about, but I don’t feel like I have a need to.”
The “LSD” rapper also said that he feels that there should be more focus on black-on-black crime rather than the police killings of black people.
Why are we exploiting the beef between the urban community and police officers when in all reality during Memorial [Day] weekend, 60-some odd people were shot just on a Friday and Saturday? Sixty-some odd people in one weekend in Chicago… black-on-black crime. One cop shoots a black person, let’s march. Let’s protest, let’s promote our mixtapes on TV, and all that…I feel like if you’re not going to talk about the main topic, don’t talk about it at all…If we’re going to talk about that, let’s talk about the black people killing black people? So if nobody wants to talk about that, neither do I.”

DJ Mustard ruled the summer of 2014 as the producer behind the summer’s biggest rap hits but now he is switching gears to pop. While at the Wireless Festival, the LA beatsmith revealed that he has been in the studio with pop star Britney Spears.
“We got something harder than hard,” said the 25-year-old. “It’s a movie.”
Mustard also teamed up with fellow pop princess Fergie for her YG-assisted single “L.A Love (La La)” but it failed to crack the top 25 on the Billboard singles chart.
