Amy Winehouse Documentary To Be Released In July (VIDEO)

A documentary chronicling the rise and fall of troubled songstress  Amy Winehouse will be released in the U.S  on July 10th, VIBE reports. The doc, Amy, is comprised of archived footage of the “Rehab” singer, interviews with her closest confidants and unreleased music.

Though fans may be excited to get a closer look into the controversial singer’s life, her family has distanced themselves from the project. They released a statement last month saying that the film is “misleading” and “contains some basic untruths.”

“I felt sick when I watched it for the first time,” Amy’s father, Mitch Winehouse, told The Sun on Sunday. “Amy would be furious. This is not what she would have wanted.”

Mr. Winehouse claims that not only does the film portray him as an absentee father but it ignores the influence of her ex-husband Blaker Fielder-Civil.

Amy will make its international debut at the Cannes Film Festival this month.
