Chris Brown Reportedly Involved In Fight With Jeremih

(AllHipHop News) Chris Brown’s trip to Las Vegas seems to have been a tough one. News broke yesterday that CB is a suspect in a battery case after a fight during a basketball game. According to ThisIs50, Brown’s Vegas weekend included a scuffle with fellow R&B singer Jeremih.

It is not clear if the two alleged incidents are related, but the supposed Chris-Jeremih brawl took place after the two were playing against each other in basketball. The site writes:

We’re told that Jeremih and Breezy were playing a basketball game and since Jeremih won the first game the “These Hoes Ain’t Loyal” singer asked for a rematch .. things then got heated and the 2 camps went at it.

Brown just got off probation in March for the 2009 attack on then-girlfriend Rihanna. He has also been involved in an altercation with Frank Ocean, and he was arrested for assaulting a man in Washington, DC.

Jeremih has had legal issues as well. The “Planes” performer and his entourage were caught on video throwing bottles inside a Montana Fuddruckers. Jeremih claimed the restaurant’s employees were being racist towards him and his party.

Fitz- She’s My Music

fitzsweater

I know what you’re thinking. Another rapper from New York. If you’re anything like me, whenever you hear the preceding phrase, you automatically recoil in horror. Most often these movements are involuntary, and have something to do with a slew of New York rappers that generate a lot of buzz in the beginning but end never making it past a couple thousand views on DatPiff. Even though New York is the birthplace of this music we love, the lack of innovation in recent years have sidelined a once proud coast. Metaphors and punchlines can only get you so far in 2015 (unless you are Styles P, Fab, or Jadakiss)– there has to be substance to the music these days, or at least versatility.

Speaking of versatility, I haven’t heard much from Fitz, but he seems to inherently understand this principle. Fitz is a rapper from Brooklyn, NY who uses his charismatic and romantic personality and fuses it with his music. He performed for many venues including the 2013 Panama Day Parade, NYC Coat Drive events, and Concrete Temple Fundraisers. With his music, he hopes to help people enjoy life and love through his witty and “out-of-the-box” banter.

Notice, no trigger talk. No talk of officers in unmarked cars. No huge reliance on the sound of another coast to make the music accessible to the masses. The reason why I chose to pen this article about Fitz is largely due to the reasons above, but it is refreshing when an MC is less concerned about oozing cool rather than crafting material that audiences can relate to. You can check out Fitz’s latest single for “She’s My Music” and make sure to track his movements on the interwebs.

Is this a sign the new album is on the way? We’ll have to wait and see.

Trinidad James Making $50,000 Off Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk”

(AllHipHop News) “Uptown Funk” has been the biggest hit of 2015 so far. The single spent 14 weeks in the top spot on the Hot 100 chart, sold over 5.5 million units in the U.S., and totaled over 590 million views on YouTube. Those type of numbers help bring in big revenue for the song’s credited writers, and one of those people with writing credit is Trinidad James.

James receives writing credit on Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ megasmash “Uptown Funk” because the record samples Trinidad’s track “All Gold Everything.” Billboard broke down the songwriter/publisher payout split for the 10 publishing owners listed for “Uptown Funk.” With its reported $840,000 in publishing revenue so far, James has pulled in nearly $50,000.

Pigeons and Planes explains Trinidad James’ financial takeaway from “Uptown Funk”:

Nicholas Williams (Trinidad James) and “All Gold Everything” producer Devon Gallaspy also received credits because the track sampled the street hit. Considering the two were the songwriters on the track they received 15 percent (7.5% each) of the revenue from “Uptown Funk,” leaving the original songwriters with 21.25 percent each…

Since Trinidad James gets at least 5.625% of the revenue (plus the 1.875% to Trinidad James Record label/TIG7 Publishing), he’s going to making upwards of $47,250 from just being sampled on the song.

Dr. Ben Carson Uses Eminem To Announce Run For President

Dr. Ben Carson’s right wing Republican politics are diametrically opposed to rapper Eminem, but that didn’t stop him from using the Detroit MC’s music to announce his run for president.

In a move wrought with theater, Carson had a Black choir sing the chorus to “Lose Yourself” from Em’s semi-autobiographic movie.

Many thought it was a joke like emcee Toni Blackman.

On Facebook, Blackman said, “I saw this early. I thought it was satire. It’s for real. Dr. Ben Carson used a gospel choir singing Eminem for his campaign announcement. I’m here hollerin’ and planning to call Dave Chappelle tomorrow. We need him. Jon Stewart might come back for a few cameos just for this foolishness. Both hands are on my face right now.”

Hit So Hard He Thought He Got Jumped!!

Alessia- “Here”

18-year-old Alessia Caracciolo, is one of the latest artists to be added to the Def Jam roster. Alessia is a singer-songwriter from Brampton, Ontario whose vocals are as phenomenal as her gift with the pen. “Here,” produced by Pop and Oak and Sebastian Kole, is her first hit single for Def Jam. Originally known for her brilliant covers of songs by other artists, the talented singer is now racking up hits of her own. If you’ve ever attended a party or social event that you didn’t necessarily want to attend, Alessia has the song for you.

alessiacara

“Here” is a song “for all the antisocial, awkward, and miserable party-goers of the world,” Alessia told The FADER. “This one time I went to a party and while there, I realized how much I hated it, along with every other party I had ever gone to. We wrote about it the next day.”

Alessia will soon be mentioned amongst the other musical powerhouses of today. Perhaps, more artists will be inspired by her to also write their experiences authentically. Alessia’s music is honest. Conceptually, Alessia is speaking for the young generation of rebellious and genuine fans, with music that is relatable to people from all walks of life.
