Did Sticky Fingaz Shoot Up The Source Awards Back In The Day?

I don’t know how it happened, but I stumbled on this video on the internet. And it seems to show Sticky Fingaz of Onyx fame shooting up the Source Awards back in the day. Apparently, they were up for the big honor (at the time) and did not win. Sticky pulls out the burner and lets of a few rounds in the ceiling. If I am correct, I even see shell casings coming out of the gun. Look at it and tell me what you think about the validity of the video…or is it fake?

Fresh Lyrical Beef For Eminem

I am quite sure Eminem is not thinking about The Outsidaz at this point in this life or times. Another day, another beef. But, I am wondering…if he is in the back of that brain of his. Why? For me, I remember Eminem credible because of the Newark, NJ collective. They cosigned him before Dr. Dre. But now, there is the latest and its better than the Young Zee diss.

AZZ IZ of the Outz…goes in on him, but also reserves a couple bars for Slaughter House and even Yelawolf.

He calls Eminem a bunch of names but are there any facts in this song?

And then there is Young Zee…one of the biggest names from the 90’s in Newark, NJ.

Universal Music Files Lawsuit Over Mixtapes Featuring Eminem & Others Being Sent To Prison Inmates

(AllHipHop News) Universal Music Group is going after companies that sell care packages for incarcerated individuals. The world’s largest music corporation claims service providers like Centric Group are engaging in copyright infringement by including mixtapes with UMG artists’ music in the packages.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the lawsuit states, “defendants boast on their website that their business ‘was developed to eliminate contraband,’ yet the infringing copies of Plaintiffs’ sound recordings and musical compositions, in which Defendants unlawfully transact and from which they unjustly profit, are contraband personified.”

Centric affiliates such as Access Securepak and Keefe Group allow family and friends to purchase the tapes as part of bundles and then send those packages to inmates in prison. Eminem, LL Cool J, The Jackson 5, James Brown, Marvin Gaye, and Stevie Wonder have been named as some of the acts allegedly affected by the companies including their music on the offered mixtapes.

While UMG does recognize there are authorized distributors of mixtapes, the lawsuit claims the assorted music projects provided by websites like Ari’s Mixtapes are “nothing more than collections of infringing, piratical compilations of copyrighted or otherwise legally protected sound recordings and copyrighted musical composition.”

Universal is seeking $150,000 for each copyrighted work that has been infringed, illegal earnings, punitive damages, and more.

Variety reports Empire is the biggest series launch for Fox since 2012. The show’s 3.7 rating/10 share in adults 18-49 and 9.8 million average viewers topped the ratings numbers for the network’s recent new programs Gotham and Red Band Society.

The Lee Daniels (Precious, The Butler) produced series even beat out ABC’s Black-ish in the Wednesday 9:30 pm ET time slot (9.7 million to 6.3 million in total viewers). Empire came in right behind ABC’s other breakout hit How to Get Away With Murder in the highly coveted adults 18-49 demographic (3.8 to 3.7).

This also means three of the top four new series in that demo were fronted by African-American leads – EmpireBlack-ish, and How to Get Away With Murder. Viola Davis stars in Murder, and Black-ish is led by Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross.

On Empire, Howard plays a former drug dealer that is now the head of a music company. Henson is his ex-wife that returns from prison to claim her share of the company. Gabourey Sidibe, Malik Yoba, Courtney Love, and Naomi Campbell also make appearances on the show.

Iran To Ban Rap Music Concerts From The Country

(AllHipHop News) The Islamic Republic of Iran is set to end any influence of rap music in the country’s public space, according to The Jerusalem Post .

The publication cites Hussein Noosh- Abbadi, Iran’s spokesman for its Ministry of Culture and Islamic guidance, as stating the nation’s leaders see “this kind of Western music as a problem for our traditional music.” The JPost reports all public concerts have to be approved by the Ministry of Culture.

The regime’s representative has added Western music encourages “wild behavior” and could have a “detrimental effect on society.”

“We don’t want to have it,” said Noosh- Abbadi. “And we will prevent any unwanted incidents normally associated with such concerts and other events.”

Underground rappers in Iran have been arrested in the past. Popular Iranian Internet rapper Amir Tataloo was detained by the country’s morality police in 2013. Authorities claimed Tataloo’s arrest was the result of his alleged involvement with illegal satellite channels.

Phylicia Rashad Says She Never Said 'Forget These Women' (VIDEO)

Phylicia Rashad caused quite a stir when she defended her longtime TV husband Bill Cosby during a recent interview.  The former Mrs. Huxtable was quoted saying ” Forget these women” when discussing the sexual assault allegations brought against Cosby by over a dozen women. Now she is speaking out again saying that she was misquoted.

“That is not what I said,” she told ABC News. “What I said is, ‘This is not about the women. This is about something else. This is about the obliteration of a legacy. I am a woman. I would never say such a thing.”

Rashad was criticized by lawyer Gloria Allred during a press conference yesterday (Jan.7) where she revealed three new Cosby accusers.

“Phylicia, I vow to you that I will not forget these women, because women matter,” Allred said. “They deserve respect and dignity. Phylicia, you should be supporting these women rather than joining Cosby’s paid ‘attack dogs’ who are trying to undermine them in any way they can.”

The Showbiz 411 editor Roger Friedman, who interviewed Rashad at a luncheon for the movie Selma, wrote a post in hopes to set the record straight about what was said.

“Let me clear something. I did not misquote Phylicia Rashad. But she didn’t mean for it to be taken the way it was, and I should have punctuated. There was NEVER the meaning in ‘Forget those women’ that she was saying to actually forget or dismiss then. She meant, ‘those women aside’ -– as in, she’s not talking about that, she’s talking about Cosby’s legacy being destroyed. It was conversational. Somehow this got twisted. I am really sorry if the way I presented it made it seem like either one of us was forgetting anyone.”

Iggy Azalea Wins Favorite Hip-Hop Artist At 2015 People's Choice Awards; Compares Herself To Elvis Presley

At last night’s (Jan.7) People’s Choice Awards, Iggy Azalea took home yet another hip-hop award. The Aussie femcee won Favorite Hip-Hop Artist over artists like Nicki Minaj, Jay Z, Drake and her mentor T.I.

The “Fancy” rapper may be far from done when it comes to winning hip-hop awards though.  At last year’s American Music Awards she beat Drake and Eminem when she won Favorite Rap Album and at this year’s upcoming Grammy Awards she is nominated for Best Rap Album. These nominations and victories have caused much controversy for the 24-year-old because many view her as being a pop artist and do not see her as deserving of so many hip-hop accolades, especially as an Australian female.

During a recent interview, she said she never thought that her race made her being a rapper a weird thing.

“Well, I never thought it was strange,” she told Vanity Fair. “If you go back to the Rolling Stones and Elvis Presley and Eminem—they’ve all basically done black music. I felt this wasn’t that far from what we’ve seen in music history over and over again.”

When asked if her criticism was misogynistic. the Grand Hustle rep totally agreed.

“Well, they don’t say that stuff about Macklemore. So, yes, I think it has 100,000 percent to do with the fact that I have a v#####.”

In actuality, Macklemore got as much criticism as Iggy did and was quite vocal when he won hip-hop awards he felt like he didn’t deserve (remember that famous text to Kendrick Lamar?)

Watch her performance of “Beg For It” at last night’s ceremony below.

Terrace Martin – "For Ever With You"

Off his Times album, which he released back in November, Terrace Martin releases the video for “For Ever With You”.  The Los Angeles producer and rapper flips and remixes a sample of 112’s “Cupid” , sprinkles in some Zapp & Roger inspiration and literally murders it. “For Ever With You” delivers with a bit of an old school R&B feel and Ill Camille keeps it nice and simple with the visuals. Check it out.

Rae Sremmurd's 'SremmLife' Album To Debut In Top 10

With the success of their two first singles “No Flex Zone” and “No Type,” Rae Sremmurd’s debut album SremmLife  is set to debut in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 albums chart.

The album is predicted to sell between 45,000 to 50,000 copies this week. SremmLife could be the first album of 2015 to debut in the top 10. Their official spot on the charts will be unveiled Wednesday, Jan. 14th.

During a visit to Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club, member Slim Jimmy boasted about the album’s quality, saying it’s equipped with more than turn up music.

“You’re not gonna be able to turn it off,” he said. “I already know. It’s live. It’s good energy. It’s not just party music.”

SremmLife  features Nicki Minaj, Young Thug, Big Sean and Jace of Two-9.

Beanie Sigel Did Not Have A Lung Removed

It was recently reported that Beanie Sigel had to have a lung removed while in the hospital after being shot in the stomach back in December. Now, someone from his camp has said Beans still has both of his lungs.

A source from the Philly native’s management confirmed with XXL that Beans did have difficulties with one of his lungs, but it wasn’t removed. The lung actually collapsed and had to be reinflated.

TMZ falsely reported that his lung had to be removed because it was “riddled” with fragments from a bullet, which prevented doctors from saving it.

Beans was released from the hospital on Monday (Jan.5) after being there for almost a month, mostly in critical condition. The person who shot him still has not been caught.

DMX Was Unware Of 'Redemption of The Beast'; Says Music On Tracklist Was Stolen

Since news of DMX’s Redemption of the Beast album was a hoax it was assumed that the 16 songs on the track list were phony too. At the Dark Man’s expense, fans may still be able to give those tracks a listen. His publicist Domenick Nati has released a statement revealing that the songs on the track list were stolen and may be released whether on X’s next album or not.

“I spoke to DMX today and he was unaware of the upcoming announcement of the Redemption Of The Beast album,” Nati said in his statement. “When I read him the projected track list of songs to be released X said, ‘that’s all stolen music’. DMX and myself are highly disappointed that trust was broken and that these songs may be released and sold without X’s knowledge or consent. DMX and Swizz Beatz are working on an album together and fans should look to their official social media accounts for accurate information.”

After the fake album art and track list started floating around, Swizz Beatz quickly took to his Instagram to blast the preposterous release, saying that that was not the album that he and DMX had been working on.
