El-P Says "Run The Jewels 3" With Killer Mike Is Definitely Happening

(AllHipHop News) It has been less than two months since El-P and Killer Mike released their critically acclaimed album Run The Jewels 2. According to P, a third installment of the Hip Hop LP series is already set to happen in the future.

The New York based producer revealed on Twitter while there is no guarantee he will work with Rage Against The Machine’s Zach De La Rocha on another project, fans will definitely get to hear El-P team up with Atlanta representative Killer Mike for RTJ3.

NME reports El-P told a London crowd at a store event that he would connect back up with de la Rocha next month to start recording new music. The California rocker/rapper/activist appeared on the Run The Jewels 2 track “Close Your Eyes (And Count To F**k).”

“In 1999 I spent a month in my apartment in Brooklyn with Zack de la Rocha just before he split Rage Against The Machine, working on music that will never see the light of day,” El-P is quoted as saying. “I can’t speak about his future, but I will say that I’m going to LA to spend another month with him in January.”

Chris Rock Hosts 'Top Five' Movie Screening In Atlanta

Chris Rock brought the funny with his latest on screen feature. On Tuesday the famed comedian and actor hosted a private advance screening of his latest film ‘Top Five’ in Atlanta, G.A. The film will hit theaters tomorrow Friday December 12, 2014. Radio personality Ryan Cameron warmed everyone up for the comedic film by allowing people to attempt to tell their best joke to win tickets to a local game. Rock opened his introduction of the film by saying “If you like it tell everyone; if you don’t like it keep that sh*t to yourself,” causing the ready to tweet and Instagram crowd to erupt in laughter.

The film, co-produced by Jay Z and Kanye West, had its share of funny moments with appearances from Cedric The Entertainer, Adam Sandler, Whoopi Goldberg and more. Another interesting focal point of the film was the characters randomly engaging in conversations leading to them debating and discussing their top five rappers.

Talent in attendance included Big Tigger, Keisha Knight-Pulliam, Cynthia Bailey and Peter Thomas, Towanda Braxton, Monyetta Shaw, Toya Wright & Memphitz, Shekinah Jo, Wingo from Jagged Edge, RL from NEXT, Comedian Carl Payne, Vine Celebrity Shod Santiago and the actors of the new movie, “Sons 2 The Grave”, currently filming in Atlanta including R&B Singer Trevor Jackson and Messiah Harris (T.I.’s son/VH1’s Family Hustle). Karlie Redd, who has an interesting role in the film, was also in attendance. So I won’t spoil the film all I’ll tell you is Rock plays an actor that is trying to be taken serious in a role different than his comedic roles of the past. This actor happens to be marrying a reality star (Gabrielle Union), and happens to be accompanied by a NY Times journalist (Rosario Dawson) who is trying to dig up as much information on Rock as she can (for a good story) but simultaneously finds out not only more about Rock but also about herself.

50 Cent Talks "Beautiful Nightmare" Album, SMS Audio vs Beats, & Being Immortal Like Biggie & 2Pac

(AllHipHop News) Lately, 50 Cent has been making his rounds to the media once again. After interviews with Hot 97 and the New York Daily News hit the internet this week, another 50 Q&A conducted by The Guardian was published as well. During his talk with the British newspaper, the G-Unit leader covered a range of topics. Check out some excerpts from the interview below.

On future albums:

That’s the title of one of my next albums. Street King Immortal is the new one to come out, but the one after that might be Beautiful Nightmare. I’ve got thousands of titles.

On his SMS Audio headphones versus Dr. Dre’s Beats By Dre:

I actually don’t own any Beats. And, yes, [SMS headphones] are better… Every time you get to that point, talking about SMS or Beats by Dre, it’s honestly not even an issue for Dre any more. They just sold the company, so it doesn’t matter now. They put the money in their pocket. If you look at the process we had to go through to make sure we had the right signature style for each headset, we wanted them to sound better across all genres of music. If you listen to some of the Beats headsets, the bass is a little heavier. It’s targeting a hip hop audience and that’s not as good. That’s just my opinion.

On comparisons to Notorious B.I.G. and 2Pac:

You know what, I don’t think they’ll replace me now. Already my face is in the hearts of people who really love hip-hop music, and the culture’s growing to the point where you have people from all walks of life choosing it for their personal pleasure. So it’s already there. I don’t think it’s going to take me being killed to compare me to Biggie or 2Pac. I am immortal.

On Jay Z and Kanye referring to themselves as gods:

My album is called Street King Immortal and at one point being King of New York was everything. Hip-hop comes from New York City, so when you say Street King it actually works, it resonates, it’s a strong title. But they changed it, made it even bigger, about God himself – like when Kanye calls himself Yeezus. And then Jay Z calls himself Jay-Hova … A god instead of a king. That’s a little further than I would go.

J. Cole Performs Michael Brown Tribute Song "Be Free" On Letterman (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) J. Cole released his third studio album 2014 Forest Hills Drive this week, and the Roc Nation rapper stopped by The Late Show with David Letterman to hit the stage. But instead of performing a cut from his latest LP, Cole did a live rendition of his tribute song “Be Free.”

Cole dropped the song in August as a response to the shooting of Michael Brown at the hands of Ferguson, Missouri police officer Darren Wilson. The Letterman performance is the latest public response by J. Cole to Brown and other unarmed Black men being killed by cops.

The “Apparently” rhymer also participated in protests in Ferguson and in New York City. The latter was organized in response to NYPD officer Daniel Pantaleo not being indicted for the choking death of Eric Garner.

DJ Drama Talks About Putting Together His New Album

There’s something to be said for the art of hustling. Not someone who sticks to one script that they’re given, but the guy who’s got enough talent, drive and vision to write his own. And as an executive, an A&R, a DJ, a label owner and an artist in his own right, very few have penned their own blueprint quite like Mr Thanksgiving, aka DJ Drama. With his hands in many mixes, the man of many hats has been through everything from police raids on his warehouse to rocking stages with TI to corner offices at Atlantic records. And with a new album on the way, the hustle shows no signs of slowing down. Thankfully the God of the Gangsta Grillz took some time out to talk with MrMecc about the artist he’s picked, the beats that are brought in and the process behind creating Quality Street Music

U.S. Reportedly Used Hip Hop Artists In Attempt To Secretly Ignite Anti-Government Movement In Cuba

(AllHipHop News) The United States government’s relationship with the Cuban government has been hostile ever since the 1959 revolution took place on the Caribbean island. Since that time successive American presidents have used tactics like invasion attempts and economic sanctions to cripple the communist nation, but according to a new report by the Associated Press, the U.S. used Hip Hop artists to try to alter the political direction of Cuba as well.

The Huffington Post:

For more than two years, a U.S. agency secretly infiltrated Cuba’s underground hip-hop movement, recruiting unwitting rappers to spark a youth movement against the government, according to documents obtained by The Associated Press.

The idea was to use Cuban musicians “to break the information blockade” and build a network of young people seeking “social change,” documents show. But the operation was amateurish and profoundly unsuccessful.

The A.P. investigation discovered that on at least six occasions Cuban officials detained or interrogated artists. Some of the people did not even know they were a part of the program.

Contractors for the Washington DC-based Creative Associates International were tasked with recruiting Cuban musicians for projects disguised as cultural initiatives. The performers were really being used to spark a movement of fans to challenge the government. A “Cuban Twitter” social media network was even created to recruit activists.

The U.S. Agency for International Development’s operation actually ended up weakening anti-Castro forces. A lot of Cuba’s brightest rap stars promoted by USAID – many of which were the loudest voices against the regime – reportedly had to leave the country or stop performing because of pressure from the Cuban government.

“Any assertions that our work is secret or covert are simply false,” said USAID in a statement.

Russell Simmons & Jay Z Lobby New York Governor To Reform Criminal Justice System

(AllHipHop News) New York has become one of the epicenters for the ongoing protests for equal justice and police accountability sparked by a Staten Island grand jury’s decision to not indict a police officer for the death of Eric Garner. Two of NY’s biggest Hip Hop representatives have now stepped up to lobby New York’s governor Andrew Cuomo to reform the state’s criminal justice system.

Shawn “Jay Z” Carter and Russell Simmons met with Gov. Cuomo on Wednesday. The governor’s office described the meeting as “a productive conversation” that included a discussion about assigning  special prosecutors to handle criminal cases involving police officers. Many observers have criticized the idea of regular state prosecutors investigating the police, because the district attorney’s office and the local police departments work so closely together.

Simmons was also joined by Chicago rapper Common at the #BlackLivesMatter rally in NYC. The protest event took place in front of City Hall. Organizers demanded changes to police practices and the prosecution of cops that commit crimes.

“I’m very excited about what the governor said,” said Simmons during the rally. “I’m going to hold him to it. I have a lot of faith in him. If he said he’s going to issue an executive order, we can certainly count on it, but we’ll make sure it happens.”

Yesterday Lil Kim addressed K. Michelle via Instagram, after the singer went on The Breakfast Club and threw major shade towards the Queen Bee.

Kim didn’t appreciate the interview and even went as far as calling K. Michelle an “insecure pathological lying sick psycho b####.”

Now y’all know it was only a matter of time before the Memphis native clapped back:

Columbus Short Admits To Drug Use; Says He's Been Doing Music

Columbus Short has admitted to drug use being the cause of the demise of his career.

In an interview with Access Hollywood Live, the actor said he used cocaine for “numbing” purposes during tough times.

“I’ll be candid: I was struggling with drugs,” the 32-year-old admitted. “I had a lot on my plate, and you know, I was using unhealthy ways to kind of self-medicate and deal with a lot of heavy duty stuff in my life… I was doing cocaine and drinking a lot, and trying to balance a 16-hour work schedule a day, and a family and I just lost myself back then.”

After exiting the Scandal cast and being charged with battery and spousal abuse, Short says he has been coping with this rough time by doing music.

“I had to move, and my therapy really was my album. Working on my album changed my life,” he said. “Music changes things, and that is a fact. And, you know, writing it out. And I have a lot of crappy songs that I wrote, that are just like me ranting, and then I have great [ones], and I put together a great EP with the team, [and] that’s how I got through this.”

Benzino has seen the light!

The former LHHATL cast member and his wife Althea were removed from the show’s lineup a few months back, after they were attacked by cast members Joseline and Stebbie Stevie J.

Now he has a few harsh words for Mona Scott-Young, the show’s creator.

VLAD TV interviewed Zino and this is what he had to say:

<script height=”397px” width=”600px” src=”http://player.ooyala.com/iframe.js#pbid=4a1aba36a098421cb720b9aa34222ef8&ec=s1cGg3cjrcaQMxMKUpM-Rl6hrCL9CtJ5″></script>

Is Benzino right? Are we witnessing new age minstrel shows when we tune in to the ratchetry known as Love and Hip-Hop on Monday nights?

Andre 3000 To Release T-Shirt Line Based Off Of Custom Tour Jumpsuits

Andre 3000 will be dropping some new heat soon, but it won’t be an album.

All 47 of the jumpsuits he wore during the Outkast reunion tour were on display at the Miami Art Basel last week and during a sit down with Hard Knock TV three stacks said that he will be transforming the jumpsuit designs into a t-shirt line. The t-shirts will feature the same quotables on the jumpsuits like ” I pray there’s a God at the end of all this, “big girls are beautiful to me,”  “everything is temporary,” “ok hand over the cure and stop playing” and many more. All those quotes were written by 3000 himself.

“It started off as one message and I kind of continued it from there,” said the Atlanta spitter told Hard Knock TV. “They’re just thoughts that I’m having…Since day one I would always draw out and design what I would wear on stage.”

A release date for the t-shirt line has not been revealed but he says we’ll “be able to see that really soon.”

Dr. Dre Tops Forbes 'Highest Paid Musicians Of 2014' List

Looks like life is good when you’re in the headphone business.

Hip-hop mogul Dr. Dre has topped the Forbes Highest Paid Musicians of 2014 list, bringing in $620 million in earnings this year. This is the most money that a musician has ever made in a year.

Dre’s deal with Apple that included him selling his Beats Electronics imprint for $3 billion is largely responsible for his big payday.

Coming in strong at the number two spot was Beyoncé, who pulled in a cool $115 million this year. Yoncé made the most she has ever made thanks to her surprise self-titled album, The Mrs. Carter Tour and her Pepsi and H&M endorsement deals.

Other artists on the list include Justin Bieber, who earned $80 million this year, Katy Perry with $40 million and Miley Cyrus who racked up $33 million.

Bill Cosby Facing Defamation Lawsuit From Sexual Assault Accuser

A woman who publicly accused Bill Cosby of sexually assault is reportedly now slapping him with a defamation lawsuit for calling her a liar after she made allegations against him.

Tamara Green says after she spoke out about the attack in 2005, Cosby’s lawyer and publicist slandered her name and tried to make her look like a liar. However, Cosby is the lawsuit’s only defendant. Green says that she hopes that filing a lawsuit in federal court will help unveil the truth about what she says Cosby did to her.

“So this will give me and other women … a chance to go to a forum where we will speak our stories and tell our truth,” she said during a news conference in Washington D.C. on Wednesday (Dec. 10). “And the most important thing is that Bill Cosby will be required to appear in court and to speak, and he will finally be heard.”

Green said she met Cosby in either 1969 or 1970 through a mutual friend and that he asked her to raise money through investors for a club he wanted to open. She said after she told him she did not feel good one day, Cosby invited her to have lunch and then gave her red and gray pills that he told her was medicine. She says the pills made her weak and dizzy and that Cosby then took her to her apartment and sexually assaulted her. In an interview with the Today show back in 2005, Green said that Cosby petted, kissed and groped her, but during an interview with MailOnline in November she said Cosby “digitally penetrated” her.

Cosby is currently under investigation by the LAPD due to a woman, Judy Huth, alleging that he sexually assaulted her at the Playboy Mansion in 1977 when she was 15-years-old.
