Kanye West Is In Favor Of Idris Elba Playing James Bond

Rush Limbaugh may feel that Idris Elba shouldn’t be the next James Bond but Kanye West does. British newspaper The Sun caught up with Ye and he showed Elba much support.

“James Bond is a role made for British actors and you won’t find a British actor who has the talent of Idris,” Yeezus said. “To be honest you won’t find many anywhere who have his talent…A black Bond would be visionary no doubt.”

Talks of Elba playing Bond began after a leaked email sent by Sony Pictures chairman Amy Pascal said “Idris should be the next Bond.” She had sent the email to Elizabeth Cantillon, who was the executive vice president of production for Columbia Pictures where the Bond flicks are produced.

Elba seems open to taking the role and recently took to Twitter to respond to his naysayers. If he did accept the role, he would be the first African American James Bond.

Wiz Khalifa Wants To Bring Africa-Based Nando's Chicken Restaurant To LA

Wiz Khalifa is working on a new project, but we’re not talking music– we’re talking chicken.

A source informed Dish Nation that the O.N.I.F.C wants to bring the Nando’s Chicken restaurant, which is based in South Africa, to Los Angeles.

“His love of Nando’s has led to him telling pals that he wants to bring wider knowledge to the chain in the US,” the source told Dish Nation. “There are just a handful of restaurants in Washington D.C., but there’s nothing in California — which is where Wiz is targeting.”

The Taylor Gang captain reportedly loves the chicken spot so much that he has a black card with the company that allows him to eat there for free year-round.

“Wiz loves their black card scheme that enables customers to enjoy free food at the beloved chain for a year,” the insider continued.”Wiz is obsessed with Nando’s. He makes it his first stop as soon as he steps foot into the UK.”

There are no details on the steps that have been taken yet.

LL Cool J Talks Working With Eminem and T.I For His 'G.O.A.T 2' Album (VIDEO)

The year 2015 marks LL Cool J’s 30th year in hip-hop. What better way to celebrate that than to release his 15th studio album?

For his next album G.O.A.T 2, which stands for the greatest all of time, he recruited hip-hop heavyweights Eminem and T.I and gushed about hopping in the studio with the two during an interview with RapUpTV.

“I think people are going to be pleasantly surprised when they hear me and Em’ on a record together,” said the Queens emcee. “The record I did with T.I is crazy. The one I did with Em is super hard…It’s some crazy records.”

He went on to say that to miss out on this album would be a “travesty for hip-hop.”

“I got a lot of young gunners on this album. People that are hungry and want to make the best music. It’s about the beats and the bars and the rhymes. It’s about being current and fresh and riveting, not a bunch of old, tired 95 nugget ring b#######. It’s newness.”

LL says that he has a track with Bronx spitter Fred Da Godson as well.

Kurupt On Donald Sterling: 'He's A Great Guy' (VIDEO)

After Kurupt was spotted leaving the home of Donald Sterling’s mistress V. Stiviano back in April, many wondered what the nature of their relationship was but the details about were scarce. During his recent sit down with Vlad TV, Kurupt Gotti described Stiviano as his homegirl and that he was seen leaving her house because he went to go check on her during the Sterling controversy.

“I ain’t know what was going on somebody called me and told me V was in trouble,” said the west coast spitter. “I had to go check on her. I’d do that with any of my friends.”

The Dogg Pound rep then gave his take on the Donald Sterling debacle that involved his friend Stiviano and surprisingly stood up for Sterling, saying he does not agree with him being forced to sell the Los Angeles Clippers.

“I don’t have a problem with this guy,” he said. “He’s a great guy. He’s a good man. They took a good man down.”

He went on to imply that it should have already been common knowledge that the 80-year-old was a racist.

“What the the f–k did everybody [think] he was before they heard it?”

Sterling was banned from the NBA after Stiviano released audio of him telling her not to associate with African Americans.

“Well then, if you don’t feel—don’t come to my games. Don’t bring black people, and don’t come,” Sterling told her.

Macklemore Talks Racism, Azealia Banks, Kendrick Lamar & The White Appropriation Of Hip Hop

(AllHipHop News) The conversation about Caucasian musician’s “whitewashing” of Black culture has been ongoing since jazz began to spread beyond African-American communities nearly 100 years ago. The discussion took center stage once again after Harlem performer Azealia Banks spoke about the issue as it relates to Australian rapper Iggy Azalea’s emergence.

[ALSO READ: Iggy Azalea & Azealia Banks Clash Over Recent Interview & Race]

Macklemore is another White rapper that has often been mentioned when it comes to the appropriation of Hip Hop. His Grammy win for “Best Rap Album” over Kendrick Lamar sparked a debate about the bias acceptance of white entertainers that make “Black music.”

The Seattle native sat down with Hot 97 to talk about beating Kendrick for the Grammy, racism, Azealia, Iggy, and the perceived co-opting of Hip Hop by White artists.

[ALSO READ: ESPN’s Bomani Jones Writes Editorial About The “Whitewashing” Of Hip Hop]

On racism:

Race is uncomfortable to talk about. White people – we can just turn off the TV when we’re sick of talking about race. We can be like, “Oh, I’m done.” It does not work that way for everybody, but that’s what we can do.

The thing for me is “white liberal people” want to be nice. We don’t want to mess up. We don’t want to be racist. We want to be like, “We’re post racial. We have a Black president. We don’t need to talk about white privilege. It’s all good. Right?” That’s not the case…

It is my privilege that I can be silent about this issue, and I’m tired of being silent about it… It is so imperative right now that we have this race conversation in America, if we’re going to progress, if we’re going to move past this.

On Azealia Banks’ Hot 97 interview:

I thought it was a really good interview. I thought that outside any person-to-person beef conversation –  I stay out of that – I will say there’s a lot of truth in that interview… With White appropriation absolutely.

On White artist’s appropriation of Hip Hop:

You need to know your place in the culture. Are you contributing? Or are you taking? Are you using it for your own advantage? Or are you contributing to the culture. And that’s subjective. But I think it’s clear who has contributed, and clear who is taking.

I’m not going to comment on Iggy in that regard. I’m not going to do that, but what I will say is that I saw a tweet on the lines of “Hip Hop was birthed out of the Civil Rights Movement.” This is a culture that came from pain, that came from oppression, that came from White oppression. It was the bi-product of that.

We can say we’ve evolved, that we’ve come along way since the late 70’s/early 80’s, but we haven’t. So you can’t disregard that. Just because there has been more successful White rappers, you cannot disregard where this culture came from and our place in it as White people.

On posting his text message to Kendrick Lamar on Instagram:

I wouldn’t necessarily say he said he didn’t like it. I think he said it was maybe unnecessary. Whatever it was, I made a mistake. A lot was going into that moment. A lot of fear was going into that moment…

First of all, I wanted to win some Grammys. Don’t get it twisted, I wanted to win some Grammys. I wanted to be in the competition. I’m a competitive dude. I’m an emcee.

I think we made a great album. I think it had great impact. I’m proud of the music that we made. I wanted to win “Song Of The Year. ” I wanted to win “Best New Artist.” I wanted to win some rap categories. But I thought Kendrick had a better album…

The mistake came from Instagraming the text message and betraying my homie’s trust. If I’m texting you, I don’t want you to Instagram whatever I’m saying to you and it to be put on the internet. I betrayed Kendrick’s trust. That’s wack.

Mack also added that he learned from Q-Tip’s Twitter message about the history of Hip Hop culture that was directed at Iggy. Mackelmore emphasized his personal focus on listening, being humble, and knowing his place in what he calls “not my culture to begin with.”

The “Can’t Hold Us” rapper also stated his purpose in having this conversation was not to “appease” Black people. Macklemore wanted to open the dialogue for White people to have an honest exchange about the topic of race.

Fabolous Says Drake Apologized For Dissing Him During Magazine Interview (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Drake’s now infamous interview published in Rolling Stone magazine included the Toronto native making some off-the-cuff remarks about other rappers. The most notable comment was Drizzy’s issue with Jay Z always rapping about art (which led to a response on Jay’s “We Made It” verse), but the article also included Drake taking a shot at Kanye West and Fabolous.

“There were some real questionable bars on there, like that ‘Swaghili’ line?” said Drake about the lyrics on Ye’s Yeezus album. “Come on, man, even Fabolous wouldn’t say some s**t like that.”

Fab recently spoke with MTV, and he was asked about the Drake diss. According to the Brooklyn emcee, the two performers spoke and Drake offered an apology.

“He apologized that I was even brought into that whole mess. I was shocked,” said Fabolous. “Out of that conversation where they were talking about Jay and Kanye, for my name to come up in that mix, it definitely seemed like it was spoken up. It’s over. It’s under the bridge. I got a lot of respect for what Drake does, and he’s expressed that to me personally. So we move on from there.”

Drake came out at the time and blasted the journalist that wrote the article. He claimed those comments were made off the record and should not have been included in the RS story.

Like other “satirical” sites, Infossip does not point out the DMX story is untrue in the actual body of the post. Its “About” page contends the website promotes “buzzing and breaking news” that is “interesting, controversial, abnormal, thought provoking or satirical.”

DMX’s publicist sent the following statement to AllHipHop.com about the Infossip story:

It is disappointing that Infossip chose to target DMX’s love for dogs for their own benefit. DMX was not arrested last weekend and does not take part in any dog fighting. We apologize to DMX’s fans for Infossip’s attempts at tainting X’s reputation with this false story. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their positive feedback of DMX’s appearance in Top Five and invite fans to see his next concert January 9th in St. Petersburg FL.

Hundreds Of Police Turn Back As NYC Mayor Speaks At Officer's Funeral

Although the brutal deaths of NYPD Officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu were carried out by mentally ill Baltimore resident Ismaaiyl Abdula Brinsle, current New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has come under scrutiny as many local authorities have turned their back on the man they claim is responsible for the increasing divide between the public and the police.

As thousands have taken to the streets in response to the deaths of  Michael Brown and Eric Garner, some police have accused the Mayor of fueling the anti-cop sentiment currently washing across the country. De Blasio, who is married to a Black woman, has spoken openly about the dangers his own son faces, prompting others to accuse him of showing favoritism to protesters.

Over the weekend many authorities made their feelings felt, turning their backs as the Mayor delivered a speech at the funeral for Officer Ramos, a move that prompted outrage from former Mayor Rudy Giuliani and more.

Also displeased was Police Commissioner Bill Bratton who expressed, “I certainly don’t support that action yesterday. I think it was very inappropriate at that event. That funeral was held to honor Officer Ramos. And to bring politics, to bring issues into that event I think was very inappropriate and I do not support it.”

The funeral for Officer Liu has been scheduled for January 4, 2015.

The Odd Side's Best Albums of 2014

If you’ve been with us since the first post in October, you know that we supply you with artists that takes music to an entirely new level. It’s only been two months since that post, but 2015 will be a year that we will take you deeper. But to end 2014 with a bang, we will give you our best albums of the year. There were a lot of albums that have prospered in its own way during the year, but these projects stood out completely and captured the attention that they all deserved. Each album wins a certain award foLike a lot of the music that’s posted on this column, it shows you where music is going. Here are The Odd Side’s Best Albums of 2015.

Most Recognized Album

FKA Twigs – LP1

This London-based singer has lingered around listener’s ears prior to LP1, but the album is what grabbed the acclaim from several critics and national attention from the music lover’s. FKA Twigs has a sound that nearly no one can imitate. Her dark chorus vocals from LP1‘s single “Video Girl” provides a creepy element to the album, while “Two Weeks” has a slower beat with a more euphoric tone. Each song on this album shine’s in it’s own unique way. Twig’s voice is beautiful, and fits well with the unique vibe of the album. Keep this chick under your radar.

Most Underrated

Gordon Voidwell – Bad Etudes

This was an album that no one saw coming, but it definitely kicked the beginning of 2014 off with a start, and even earned critical acclaim upon its release. Gordon Voidwell definitely had put in work to make Bad Etudes such a unique album with a retro feel. The vibe of the album reincarnates the sound of 80’s R&B and pop, even sampling Barbara Moon Mason’s “Another man” for the track “Pure (Hollywood Colt). Bad Etudes is one of the reasons why Gordon Voidwell was one of the artists to look out for performing at this year’s Afropunk Fest as well. If you are looking for a new imagining of a near past, Gordon Voidwell’s new album is the definite album to check out.

Oddest Album from The South

Father – Young Hot Ebony

Although fellow ATL rapper Rome Fortune won over critics with Small VVorld, Young Hot Ebony was the album that proved how much ATL Rap can be. Father’s project is brief, but it has a unique style of music created by weird bass-driven instrumentals and nonchalant raps by Father. Young Hot Ebony is comprised of sex, girls, drugs, the normal stuff most rappers talk about, However,  the way it’s presented is what makes it special. The album features the single “Look At Wrist” featuring iLoveMakonnen and Key!, a track that’s been lingering on the internet and has been also acknowledged as one of the hottest songs of 2014.

Best Production Project

SBTRKT – Wonder Where We Land

SBTRKT’s sophomore LP was a standout project that has definitely earned its critical acclaim in 2014. With the album being released the same day as Flying Lotus’ concept album You’re Dead, winning this award was no small feat.  The UK producer’s instrumentals are similar to his self-titled debut project, but things are a bit darker this time around. They may have been upbeat songs like singles “Temporary View” and “NEW DORP,NEW YORK”, but “Higher” shows a more serious perspective that listeners didn’t see coming. SBTRKT brought in the several unique names to his roster for Wonder Where We Land including Raury, ASAP Ferg, Ezra Koening, and Sampha. With a diverse tracklist, awesome features, and an already unique sound that will keep you interested throughout, Wonder Where We Land will continue to be a favorite even through 2015.

Best LP To Come Out Of Nowhere

Before Raury performed at ATLast, linked up with acts like SBTRKT and The Neighbourhood, and even hung out with Kanye West, the Atlanta artist released a project that would soon put him on the forefront for modern music as a whole. Indigo Child is a project that combines hip hop, rock, R&B, and even a little folk together to create a mixtape that is as unique as it is astonishing. It’s hard to really determine what influenced Indigo Child musically. While a song like “Woodcrest Manor” can be very reminiscent of Outkast, there would be more rock oriented songs like “Chariots of Fire” to completely throw you off. The final product is a free LP that shows several talents of this young Atlanta-native, and with him recently working with Gucci Mane for a track, Raury’s several talents make him both unpredictable and brilliant all at the same damn time.

What do you think about these 5 albums? Do you like them or nah? Is there any album that you think should have made the list? You can leave a comment below. And I”ll see you in 2015.

Young Thug – "Pelican Fly"

Young Thug sends his condolences to Trayvon Martin in his latest freebie “Pelican Fly“. I also added another single from Thugga called Hold Us featuring Rich Homie Quan and PeeWee Longway.
