BULLS**T! Kendrick Lamar And The Greats That Never Won A Grammy

Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, Salt-N-Pepa, Public Enemy, Kid-N-Play, Slick Rick et al. at the 1988 Grammy Boycott.

“Who gives a f**k about a gotdamn Grammy? Who gives a f**k about what they like?” – Public Enemy

Kendrick Lamar got screwed: simple and plain.

Nobody should be shocked, because the Grammy game as always been a tricky beast when it comes to Hip-Hop. Way back in 1988 (a seminal year for Hip-Hop), Hip-Hop heads like Will Smith, Salt N Pepa and Public Enemy publicly boycotted the award show because they didn’t televise the Hip-Hop portion. Rappers don’t have such solidarity in 2014, but Jay Z did voice his discontent in other ways. Nevertheless, if Kendrick is feeling a way about not winning any of the Grammys he was nominated for, he should rest assured that he’s in the company of true Greats. Below is a list of some of the big names and talented artists that never took home what Jay Z called a “zippy cup” to their home.

Tupac Shakur
Bob Marley
Snoop Dogg
Jimi Hendrix
Diana Ross
Nas
Chuck Berry (The creator of Rock-N-Roll music)
Notorious B.I.G.
Run DMC
Public Enemy
DMX
NWA
Ice Cube
Drake
Bjork
Busta Rhymes
The Who
Journey
The Doors
Led Zepplin
Depeche Mode
Guns N’ Roses
Kiss
Morrissey
Katy Perry
Cat Stevens
Florence + the Machine
Stevie Nicks
Martina McBride

And there are more…but this is a sample of many.

Kanye is the more private person in the couple but Kim is said to have persuaded him to allow their multimillion dollar affair to be filmed, at least parts of it.

It has also been said that producers will foot the bill.

According to local police, one person was shot in the chest and another in the leg at a venue hosting Quan’s concert late Saturday. The injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

Someone began firing inside Arena Building around 10:20 pm. A security guard at the event said that an identified man “got physical with security” and was removed from the building. He allegedly returned with a gun and began shooting. The concert was shut down as a result of the incident.

Macklemore Says Kendrick Lamar Got "Robbed" At The Grammys

(AllHipHop News) Weeks before the winner for the Best Rap Album Grammy award was even announced nominee Macklemore shared his belief that if his album The Heist beat out Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d. city for the prize Hip Hop would be “heated.”

Macklemore did win, Kendrick was completely shut out, and for the most part a lot of rap fans online were not too happy. Macklemore even recognizes that K. Dot should have walked away with a Grammy last night as well, and he apparently shared that feeling with Kendrick via text writing, “You got robbed. I wanted you to win. You should have.”  Mack uploaded a screen shot of the message to his Instagram page.

Earlier in the day, the Seattle performer also uploaded a text he received from Kendrick where the Black Hippy member acknowledges Macklemore’s hard work.

Macklemore won four awards during the night including nearly sweeping the rap categories with wins for Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance. He also picked up the trophy for Best New Artist. Kendrick Lamar was nominated in all four categories as well.

Madonna Goes Pre-Civil War Retro

After the very recent controversy over Madonna’s use of the “n-word” to describe her white son, it would seem like the pop icon would be a little bit more sensitive about how she presents herself. So it kind of comes as a surprise that she decided to show up on stage during Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ performance dressed like a slave master from Django Unchained.

Lorde Is 17 Going On 40

Lorde was one of the big winners of night taking home 2 awards including one for “Song Of The Year.” While the New Zealand singer-songwriter was collecting trophies, social media was asking, “Is this girl really about to hit menopause or nah?”

The 56th Annual Grammy Awards! 2014's Celebration of The Biggest Night in Music

The Grammy Awards hit some of the right notes with viewers on Sunday but not everyone in Hip Hop was thrilled. On a high note according to Nielsen’s preliminary ratings, roughly 28.5 million viewers tuned in to the show on CBS. That’s up from last year’s 28.4 million viewers and marks the second largest audience since February 1993 — behind the 2012 ceremony that took place a day after the legendary Whitney Houston passed away. Some Hip Hop fans were shocked and dissappointed when the winner of the Best Rap Album category was announced. As they believed Kendrick Lamar was robbed as Mackelmore & Ryan Lewis took the trophy home.

Daft Punk won big on Sunday, walking away with album of the year. Also taking home multiple honors were, Pharrell Williams and Kacey Musgraves. LL Cool J served as host of the three-and-a-half-hour show, which took place at Los Angeles’ Staples Center.

Jay-Z & Justin Timberlake Win Grammy For Best Rap Sung

(AllHipHop News) Jay Z and Justin Timberlake won the Grammy for the best rap-sung collaboration at the 2014 award show, but he also took a not-to-subtle jab.

Jay was nominated in nine categories, leading the way, but his album Magna Carta Holy Grail was snubbed in all the major categories.

“I want to thank God for this award,” he said, “but I also want to thank him mostly for putting this beautiful light of young lady in my life [Beyonce]. I also want to tell [their daughter] Blue, ‘Look — Daddy got a gold sippy cup,” referencing the Grammy.

Many have taken the “sippy cup” remark as an outright diss to the awards show, in which he and Beyonce opened.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis ended up winning three of the key rap Grammys.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Win Early Rap Honors

(AllHipHop News) Macklemore & Ryan Lewis took their first Grammy honors by storm in the Rap categories.

The pair won the Grammy Rap awards for best performance and best song for Thrift Shop and best album for The Heist.

Early in the show, they also took home the Grammy for best new artist.

The pair are also on the ballot for album of the year.

Pharrell Williams won producer of the year, his first award of the evening.

Tyga Takes A $200K Loss In Court

(AllHipHop News) Tyga has been ordered to pay $200,000 to a former jeweler for stealing his jewels.

The ruling was dropped last week after a suit was filed, according to a report by TMZ.

Jason of Beverly Hills sued Tyga last year because he said that the Young Money rapper didn’t pay $91k in jewelry that he bought in 2012. Additionally, Jason wanted a late fee applied because of the rapper’s delinquency.

A judge approved the late fee and ruled in favor of the plaintiff.

Tyga’s rep told TMZ that the whole matter is “all a misunderstanding.”
