Snoop Dogg Allowed To Perform In Australia Despite Petition

(AllHipHop News) West Coast Hip Hop legend and pop culture icon Snoop Dogg will be able tour in Australia this month. Billboard reports Snoop was granted a work permit despite a women’s organization’s petition calling for him to be denied entry into the country on the grounds that his lyrics “glorify violence against women.”

This is not the first time the group known as Collective Shout has taken aim at a rap artist visiting Australia. In June of 2013, the organization attempted to get Tyler, The Creator’s visa revoked claiming he promoted “hate speech” against women. Other Hip Hop performers have had difficulty entering the country as well. 2 Chainz was denied entry because of pending drug charges in the States.

Daily Word – Uninstall Your Limits!!

Happy Thursday my intuitive and forward thinking! Welcome to the day that you continue to unlearn the lies that have been forced upon you! Today’s Daily Word is dedicated to uninstalling your limits! I once heard a story about a flea in a jar….. Naturally, fleas can jump up to 15 feet. So, if you placed a flea in a jar, it would have no problem getting out. But if you placed a flea in a jar with a lid on it, the flea would jump in an attempt to get out but would repeatedly hit his head on the lid. After about 20 minutes, the flea would begin to learn that it cannot escape and then stop jumping as high as it did. Once he becomes used to the thought that he cannot escape, even if you remove the lid, he would not try due to the fact that he BELIEVES he cannot. Because of his experience with hitting his head every time he jumped to his highest potential, he never even bothers to look up to see that the lid is no longer there. This is what sometimes happens in life! We are naturally made to be great, to soar with excellence… but as life keeps smacking us in the head, we become weary and stop trying to reach our greatness! We impose limitations on what we are able to do and call it “reality.” As Mahatma Gandhi once said “Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If he keeps on saying to himself that he cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that he may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if he believes that he can do it, he shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if he may not have had it at the beginning.” It is imperative that we remove our self-imposed limitation NOW!!…. Not tomorrow…. Not the day after… But NOW!! The so called reasons or excuses why you think you can’t do something is the exact reason why you can’t do it! Change you mind and change your perspective and I guarantee that all you want out of life will be yours! Uninstall Your Limits!! #NothingCanStopYouButYOU!!!

TDE’s Isaiah Rashad Discusses His Upcoming “Cilvia” EP

(AllHipHop News) One of Top Dawg Entertainment’s newest signees, Isaiah Rashad, is prepping to drop his first official project in the near future. It was expected that the Tennessee native was releasing Cilvia as a mixtape. Rashad now tells Revolt that it will be coming out as an EP, and the project will “create a vibe.”

[ALSO READ: Top Dawg Entertainment To Release 6 Albums Next Year]

“The vibe… when you cleaning up around, you throw something on, and you just vibin’ to it. You just catch the feeling,” said Rashad. “That’s what stuck with me when I was a kid. Even now, in the music I listen to, I like the stuff I can just throw on at any time. I don’t like music that’s just party appropriate or just ‘this time’ appropriate. Just create a vibe. Take me out of where I’m at. Bring me somewhere else.”

The “R.I.P. Kevin Miller” rapper also lets listeners know not to expect to hear the members of TDE’s Black Hippy on Cilvia. Rashad is going forward without help from Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, and Jay Rock.

“I didn’t want to get signed and then cheat, use the cheat code,” explains Rashad. “I could’ve did the cheat code and got Kendrick, and got Q, and got Soul, got Rock. I just kept it by myself and SZA.”

[EDITORIAL] Yo…What Happened To Peace?

Yesterday morning my phone rang. On the other end was my usually cheery publicist Cherrell Rene and she didn’t sound like herself. As we began to talk about a few projects that we are in the process of working on…I could tell something was wrong. I finally asked what was going on…because real friends can tell when something isn’t right and she and I are that close.

She was in shock…and her heart was broken. She had just found out that her uber talented client DJ Nando had been murdered a few hours prior and she was still reeling from the news. This was the second major death to touch her as Doe B was also someone that she felt a closeness to.

I didn’t know what to say at first. I hadn’t heard the news yet and was shocked myself at her revelation. And then all too soon the words started flowing between she and I. Per our usual we kept it real and spoke from our hearts as to what needs to change in the Hip Hop community. Something has to give. At the end of the conversation this time… I decided to actually do something about it…instead of just running my mouth and not taking a productive or definitive stand.

Cherrell and I all to often have these discussions about how people don’t value one another the way they should in this game…and how each moving part has become entirely too replaceable. We as the media constantly big up thoughts and ideas that we know aren’t right with each co-sign that we give to ratchet thoughts. Never once stopping to wonder if that song will be the last thing someone listens to before they take another person’s life. Deep huh?

Life does have meaning no matter how wonderfully or poorly it’s lived. And if you look to our young rappers in the game who are seemingly dropping every single week…you will see that we’ve totally lost our way along the path even when we claim to be employing our moral compasses.

Are there no “Hip Hop God Fathers” willing to stand up and be heard. And not just the usual suspects either. It’s time for others to get involved as well. We can’t expect Chuck D, KRS, Paradise, Jasiri X and Doitall etc to be the only ones standing up. We’re claiming to be of the community without actually being for the community.

If you aren’t for it..then you are against it. Because there used to be a code of ethics that was employed in this game. Even the hardest of cats in the game respected those rules. If you had something to say you put it on wax…not just waxed the guy you were mad at.

After the deaths of Pac and B.I.G. we took an entire decade to party….just to get away from that dark, sinister energy that loomed large over the culture….but I feel it creeping back in and it’s nothing I ever want to see happen again. No one should ever have to die to make, create or support music. It’s not that serious.

How many more times am I going to have to write an obituary about a rapper/DJ/producer taking their last breath. This isn’t playstation or nintendo….you only get one shot at this life and one shot can end this life too. The irony is not lost on me nor should be lost on anyone else.

When we say do the right thing we get told we’re being too preachy. But I’d rather be too preachy and have people around to hear it…then for my lack of sermon to have no deaf ears to fall on…and our people still dying. Just saying.

Peace…Peace…Peace.

RIP DJ Nando

Epic Fail of the Day: Parrot Snitches on Drunk Driving Suspect

Mexican motorist Guillermo Reyes was stopped at an alcohol checkpoint in Mexico City on suspicion of drunk driving, and got ratted out by his pet bird.

“He’s drunk, he’s drunk,”  chirped the parakeet from inside Reyes’ vehicle, according to Spanish-language newspaper El Universal.

Police subsequently gave Reyes a breathalyzer test, which he failed. When animal control officers arrived on the scene, they discovered that the bird and his owner were close that they were concerned the animal might die if the two were separated, so authorities locked them up together. Both were held overnight.

That’s what the bird gets for snitching! Either that or maybe the bird was concerned and doled out some tough love. And that’s why you should get a dog.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Trina Braxton Batting For the Other Team?

Trina Braxton confirmed that she is trisexual and Towanda Braxton said she’s kinda/sorta dating Kordell Stewart. Both women tried to play coy on the Arsenio Hall Show but then got caught up in banter where they called each other out.

Towanda claimed that she likes Kordell as a friend while Trina, in addressing her relationship with her soon-to-be ex-husband, said that she might bat for the other team if the relationship doesn’t work. Towanda then said, “So, Trina, you said if the relationship doesn’t work you’d bat for the other team but you’re filing for divorce so does that mean you’re going to bat for the other team?”

Trina quipped, “Does that mean you’re dating Kordell?”

Oops.

Wale Meets Nigerian Family For First Time In New Documentary (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Home was where the hatred was for the late Gil Scott Heron and where Wale . P. Diddy’s 24-hour music channel will debut its first ever original documentary, “Wale: I Am From” which follows the Maybach Music Group rapper on his trip to Africa to reconnect with his Nigerian roots.

For one week, REVOLT followed Wale as he met his Nigerian grandparents for the first time and how his busy music career created difficulties.

Back in November, Wale explained why he never visited his home country until 2013 during an interview with Nigerian radio station Beat FM Lagos:

I grew up poor. We lived in DC, in the projects. Getting a ticket to Nigeria on $20, 000 income yearly, to my family that wasn’t really… you know…like I was a 15 year old with a decent job, I’m not going to save up to go to Nigeria. That wasn’t what I was thinking when I was that age. And then I was in college and the money tight right then. And then I get this record deal when I dropped out of school, you’re running around so much you don’t even have time to see your own parents

The hour long original documentary premieries on January 20th at 10 p.m. EST on REVOLT channel. Check out the trailer for RevoltTV’s “Wale: I Am From” below:

Yeezianity: Man Makes Religion Based on Kanye West

(AllHipHop News) The Christian bible forbids idolatry and praising false gods, but that did not stop one person from creating an entire religion based around the teachings of Kanye West.

The anonymous religious leader explained to Noisey that Yeezianity was started only a month ago and Kanye West’s The College Dropout is his favorite album of all time. However, the anonymous person admits that Yeezianity has no organized religion but is similar to Christianity:

The idea has yet to get out there. Who knows what could come this way? But it’s an idea, and before anything can manifest, it has to start as an idea. In a lot of ways, after I created it, I reflected on it and thought that this was just a rehashing of Christianity, but just throwing Yeezus instead of Jesus.

Interestingly enough, the anonymous religious leader claims the main reason for starting the religion was to “attract Kanye to the point where I can meet him at some point.” The Yeezianity version of The Ten Commandments are known as The “5 Pillars”

1. All things created must be for the good of all
2. No human being’s right to express themselves must ever be repressed
3. Money is unnecessary except as a means of exchange
4. Man possesses the power to create everything he wants and needs
5. All human suffering exists to stimulate the creative powers of Man

Check out all the details on Yeezianity at its official website.
