Apollo Brown & Planet Asia “God Hour”

A little over a year ago Apollo Brown began working on a project with Guilty Simpson. At the same time label-mate Gensu Dean began working with Planet Asia on a record. The two producers lamented the other working with Guilty and Asia prior to them getting a chance to. So an idea hatched: Apollo would take half of Gensu’s album vocals with Planet Asia and rework them into the vision he had, while Dean would do the same to Guilty Simpson’s verses. The result is one project with two sides: “Abrasions: Stitched Up” and “Dice Game “Shaken” – coming out January 14, 2014.

Sean “Diddy” Combs Acquires DeLeón Tequila Brand

(AllHipHop News) Sean “Diddy” Combs hopes to recreate the success of his Ciroc vodka brand with the acquisition of luxury tequila brand DeLeón.

Diddy and Diageo Spirits have partnered to acquire DeLeón as their second 50–50 joint venture.

Diddy’s company Combs Wine & Spirits and Diageo are already 50–50 partners in Ciroc vodka.

“Celebration is a cornerstone of all my businesses, and this joint venture is a natural extension of that portfolio,” said Sean Combs, Chairman, Combs Wine & Spirits. “DeLeón is an outstanding brand that appeals to those who love exceptional tequila in a distinctive bottle. Together with Diageo, we will take DeLeón to new heights.”

Under Diddy’s leadership, Ciroc has experienced phenomenal growth.

Since 2007, Ciroc has gone from selling 50,000 cases a year, to nearly 2,000,000 cases per year.

According to Diageo’s CEO, it was Diddy’s involvement with Ciroc’s success that solidified the purchase of DeLeón.

“The joint venture with Combs Wine & Spirits and its purchase of DeLeón is Diageo’s latest step toward returning to a leading position in tequila in North America,” said Larry Schwartz, President, Diageo North America. “Expanding our relationship with Sean Combs into tequila was a natural choice given Sean’s ability to galvanize support for luxury brands, as we’ve seen with our work together on Cîroc. Ultra-premium and above tequila is a very exciting segment – we already have a strong brand there with Don Julio and are pleased to complement that offering with DeLeón.”

The tequila comes in five variations, ranging in price from $120.00 to over $1,000.00 per bottle.

“In creating DeLeón, I brought the skills of fine wine-making and natural barrel aging to the art of tequila. The result was a spirit unparalleled in purity and taste,” added Brent Hocking, DeLeón’s founder. “I am entrusting DeLeón Tequila to the capable hands of Diageo and Sean Combs as both have demonstrated a commitment to luxury and quality which reflects my own commitment to the DeLeón brand.”

Shyheim Surrenders To Police In New Years Hit And Run Case

(AllHipHop News) Shyheim, an affiliate of Wu Tang, has turned himself into police and now stands accused in a New Year’s Day hit and run that resulted in the death of a 29-year-old man.

He will likely face a charge of leaving the scene of a fatal accident, a class D felony, according to a report by the Staten Island Advance.

On January 1, Felipe Avila, a bakery worker, was going to his job in Staten Island when he was struck by a car that Shyheim was driving. Reports say Shyheim didn’t stop at a stop sign, causing the collision. Police say the 36-year-old rapper then ran after the accident, which resulted in Avila’s death.

Prior to turning himself in, Shyheim contacted AllHipHop to express himself and to also ask for support from the community.

In an online video, he expressed how fans and supporters could help him defend himself legally.

At the time of his surrender on Wednesday (January 8), Shyheim was already on $10,000 bail for a 2013 drug-related incident.

Shyheim came out in the 1990’s as one of the youngest affiliates of the Wu Tang Clan. Then, known as the “The Rugged Child,” he was able to make a name for himself through his lyrical skills and his deep relationships with Wu.

Chris Brown Turns Down Plea Deal In Assault Case

(AllHipHop News) Chris Brown has rejected a plea deal in a case stemming from an alleged assault that took place in Washington D.C.

Brown had an incident with an individual outside of a hotel last October.

The lead prosecutor offered the R&B singer a deal that would reduced the charges to simple assault instead of the present misdemeanor assault that carries a heavier penalty.

TMZ theorized that the singer turned down the deal because there is no video of the alleged clash with the singer and the man. If there is a video, Brown’s lawyer would certainly want to see it before they cut a deal.

According to AP, the inmate escaped from a minimum security facility in Lexington on Sunday. As temperatures dropped into the low single digits Monday, he walked into a motel and told the clerk to call the police.

The 42-year-old man revealed that he wanted to go back to jail to escape the frigid weather. He was found wearing the standard prison uniform of khaki pants, a shirt, and he was also wearing a jacket.

There are no further reports on what penalty he’ll face for breaking out.
