Marquis Daniels may be best known for his prowess on the court as a professional NBA player with the Milwaukee Bucks. But once he puts down the rock, he picks up the mic and spits truths about his life and times as “Q6.” While on the stage or in the studio, Q6 delivers southern-bred rhymes on life outside the paint – the way he truly experiences it.
Having rapped since high school, Q6 quickly developed a love for the rap game just as strong as his affinity for the court. A native of Orlando, Florida, Q6 credits his upbringing in the south for his musical influences. Inspired by the dirty south grittiness of artists like Trick Daddy, Hot Boys, Gucci Mane, Lil Boosie, and BG, along with the stylistic sonic aesthetic of southern players like Outkast, and UGK. He always knew he would find a balance between sports and music and make his living through both.
After completing his stint at Auburn University in only 3.5 years, he joined the league with the Dallas Mavericks. As he got his first dream off the ground, Q6 never forgot about his other passion and maintained a plan to make it a priority once he was more established. Working nonstop on his music while concurrently heating up the hardwood, he puts no time to waste penning rhymes after games and in his down times between flights, recording tracks in the summer off season and on his free days.
Q6 focuses his own rhymes on the truth of his everyday life and the experiences he’s been through. He has already collaborated with southern rap legends like Boosie, Gucci, Trina, and Gangsta Boo to name a few. He most recently got the Maybach Music stamp of approval, with backing from Rick Ross’ MMG Black Bottle Athletes for his latest mixtape release, “Kategory 6.” Check out his KaTegory 6 Mixtape below!
Raekwon releases the 3rd offering of his “Throwback Thursday” series. This time he drops some bars over The Isley Brothers’ “Footsteps In The Dark”. Be on the lookout for his new album “FILA” coming soon!
Mass Appeal’s Boldy James releases his first single “Crunchin” off of his upcoming mixtape Trapper’s Alley 2 dropping September.
With a host of features lined up, Val is starting things off with Freebandz affiliate Young Scooter featured track called “Wait A Minute.” Val has developed quite a resume having performed songs with Waka Flocka, Young Thug, Jim Jones, Roscoe Dash and Young Scooter to name a few. Little did people know the BET After Party was the way to go as the annual ritual came to an ending. In the midst of the fun, at the JW Hotel, Cricket Wireless crafted an oasis and a hub that housed all the celebrities that partook in the post-show festivities. Humorous moments were all over the place. T-Pain was spotted trying to exit, did a U-Turn after seeing the sea of people outside of the party. Watching men fawn over Boris Kodjoe is always hilarious, but the German-bred actor was accommodating to all of his doting fans. Footballer DeSean Jackson kicked it on the couch with T-Pain, comic Michael “Motha Sucka” Blackson, an episode that lead to raucous laughter. Hip-Hop staple Big Tigger hosted the Cricket Wireless after party which also attracted Tyrese, the cast of “Being Mary Jane,” DJ Traci Steele, Elle Varner, Lorenz Tate, August Alsina, Angela Simmons and others.

Recently reports surface that for years Mya and Jay-Z have been carrying on an affair for years, and Mya came through via Instagram and shut those rumors down quick.
After a fan asked if the report was true, Mya responded with:
“Never did, never was, never will. Illegitimate thirsty sources with no facts and that’s the “media” for you- especially today. I play second to no one, pay my own bills, have my own label, own management company, rely on God only and respect myself & marriage way too much for nonsense. False rumors are crafted for ratings & numbers. And miserable, unhappy people need someone to judge to deter the attention away from their own misery and feel better about their miserable lives. If they did it to Jesus, they’ll do it to anyone. God Bless.”
There’s one out the way, what about all the other reported jumpoffs?
When Erica Mena isn’t throwing punches, she’s empowering the kids. New York’s Unity Center For Urban Technologies High School had the reality star deliver their Class of 2014 commencement speech.
VH1 reports:
“Love & Hip Hop‘s Erica Mena surprised the class of 2014 at New York’s Unity Center for Urban Technologies with a speech at their commencement ceremony. The reality star responded to an invitation from class vice president Simone Dixon who said the “student body can relate to [Erica’s] story full-heartedly.”
In her speech Erica spoke of her personal journey, revealing she did not receive her diploma but was inspired after her experience with the Unity Center for Urban Tech students. The singer-model said:
As you go through life, you’re going to make mistakes, but it’s not the mistake that counts, its how you bounce back! I’m not proud at the route I chose, but because of it I can stand before you today and deliver these words of wisdom. Learn from my story and remember life is what you make it. Where you’re from does not determine where you’re going. You are the creator of your destiny.”
Mena also threw in gifts: autographed copies of her book for all the graduates.
(AllHipHop News) Slavery, Civil Rights Act of 1964 and animals galore. Yesterday (July 2nd) SiriusXM’s Opie and Anthony host Anthony Cumia made racist comments on his personal Twitter account after allegedly being assaulted by a woman.
Accordin to Cumia, a woman began punching him after he attempted to take a picture of Times Square with her in the frame. After the attack, Cumia vented his frustrations with the powerlessness of white people in such a situation:
Cumia states he did not press charges on his assailant because there were no police officers in the area but then later stated he didn’t because it wouldn’t be taken serious due to him being white. Cumia also later claims he was legally carrying and sustained temporary vision impairment. Cumia did manage to get a photograph of his alleged assailant. The controversial proceeded to attribute his assault to an overarching issue in the Black community:
The Opie and Anthony Show is off for the July 4th weeknd and returns on Monday. SiriuaXM has not responded to the comments from Cumia.
Smh. Well the Puerto Rican Princess may have some serious explaining to do. Media Takeout is reporting that Stevie J made moves after finding that not only has she been carrying on an affair with Rick Ross, but may be carrying his baby.
“We’re told that Joseline is CURRENTLY PREGNANT, and that the child most likely belongs to rapper RICK ROSS – whom she’s been carrying on an affair with for months.
The insider told MediaTakeOut.com, “Stevie didn’t know she was cheating on him, and since he uses condoms, he didn’t think she’d end up pregnant. . . But when he learned of her scandalous ways, he confronted her and she basically told him what was going on.”
Once Stevie found out just how SCANDALOUS Joseline is (we could have told him), he DUMPED HER. Now he’s on Twitter talking about how he will NEVER AGAIN trust a female.
Oh, and the insider claims that the Puerto Rican princess has not decided on what she wants to do with the child she’s carrying.”
Something must be going on, considering that Stevie is coming across a tad bit bitter via Twitter.
Stevie’s bus may have lost another passenger…
In this week’s edition of deadbeat news, rapper French Montana’s estranged wife claims that he does nothing for their son while he’s out showering Khloe with gifts.
A source close to Deen Kharbouch, French’s wife told RadarOnline that he has abandoned his 4-year-old son to live the high-life with the reality star.
“Referencing the new $50,000 Jeep Montana bought Kardashian for her big day, the source said, “French has purchased a vehicle for someone who doesn’t need it. But he’s insisted that he would not pay for his child to go to school!”
Not to mention, the source claims the “Ballin Out” singer is splashing cash on Kardashian that he simply doesn’t have.
“He’s [not just] blowing his money [but] his wife’s money too!” the source exclaimed, referring to Montana’s ex, Kharbouch, who’d been Puff Daddy’s protégé since 2006 — until they started divorce proceedings in 2012.
Despite Montana’s fame in the rap community, “He’s not a millionaire,” the source insisted. “That’s what he does. He makes other people think he’s on top. He’s a con man. And if the Kardashians are falling for that, that’s his MO.”
As Radar previously reported, the rapper surprised the reality star with a diamond ring and blinged-out grills for her 30th birthday last Thursday.
But while he’s been spending dough like a high roller and hanging with his newly-adopted TV family, the 29-year-old Moroccan native (real name Karim Kharbouch) hasn’t seen his son Kruz in months, the insider claims.
“Kruz has not seen or spoken to his father in over six months. Nor has his father inquired about Kruz’s well being in over six months,” continued the source, adding that the star didn’t call or visit with his little boy on Father’s Day.
“Since the fame, he’s been a deadbeat,” the source said, although Montana is up-to-date with all child support obligations. “He also threw a birthday bash for this woman and did not attend his son’s pre-school graduation! His son was the only child without a father present.””
Deadbeats are a no go and if you’re going to lay up with one, Khloe you’re just as wrong too…
