Actors To Play Dr. Dre, Eazy E and Ice Cube In NWA Movie Are Revealed (PICS)

(AllHipHop News) 25 years ago, Dr. Dre, Eazy-E and Ice Cube were three of the central figures of the inaugural movement of gangster rap that was N.W.A. Today (June 16th) after five years of planning and delays, the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton finally has confirmed their first actors for the roles of the three N.W.A. leaders.

Reports surfaced that Marcus Callendar will play Dr. Dre, Jason Mitchell will play Eazy-E and in accordance with Cube’s wishes, his son O’Shea Jackson Jr. will play Ice Cube in the film. Dr. Dre originally desired for Michael B Jordan to play him, however Jordan’s upcoming filming of The Fantastic Four movie conflicted.

Jackson Jr and Callendar have never starred in a film and Mitchell starring in four films from 2011-2013 with 2012’s Mark Walberg-led film Contraband being his biggest role.

50 Cent Reveals Release Date For Next Album

(AllHipHop News) 50 Cent was supposed to show us Street King Immortal a full year before he released what has become Animal Ambition. During a recent interview, 50 Cent revealed the definitive release date for Street King Immortal will be released.

Back in November of 2012, while still signed to Interscope Records, 50 Cent announced on his personal Twitter account that Street King Immortal would be released February 26th, 2013. Over a year and half since that announcement, 50 Cent has released Animal Ambition and during his interview with Conneticut’s Hot 93.7’s The Hot Morning Show today (June 16th) and announced the album will be released on September 16th.

Less than two weeks ago, 50 Cent revealed on Good Day Philadelphia that G-Unit’s first album in six years will be released in November.

Tupac Biopic Producer Talks Tupac/Nas Relationship, Trilogy + MORE

(AllHipHop News) If you followed Tupac through his music,  you would be justified in thinking that up until his dying day, Tupac had a venomous hatred Nas in his prime. LT Hutton, Producer of the upcoming Tupac biopic, spoke on Tupac and Nas’ relationship and how it could have been its own movie and more.

During an interview with Steve Stoute at SXSW back in 2012, Nas revealed that he approached Tupac and Death Row in Central Park after the 1996 MTV Video Music Awards. According to Hutton during his interview with Life+Times, Nas was one of the many parts of Tupac’s life that could have been expanded on into its own feature length film:

To document all his years and all his relationships—from the Outlawz, to Leila [Steinberg, his first manager], to Mopreme [Shakur, his older step-brother], to even Nas’s relationship with him—is a lot. There could be a whole movie on ‘Pac and Nas, ‘Pac and Biggie, ‘Pac and the Outlawz, ‘Pac and his mother Afeni Shakur, ‘Pac and Geronimo Pratt, etc.

Last month, Marlon Wayans appeared on ESPN’s Numbers Never Lie and stated that
wasn’t real gangster but he acted gangster.” While Hutton does not explicitly corroborate that statement, he does explain that Tupac was not always the person he wanted to be in public:

When I pitched the film to John Singleton about what we wanted covered in his re-write, I called it ‘the trilogy.’ It’s who Tupac was, who Tupac had to be (for the world he was brought into) and who Tupac wanted to be. That was the fight in him. He had to be all these people and still try to be who he was, who he had to be, and who he wanted to become.

I heard this one last night and I mulled it over and was like…REALLY? Chris Brown just just outta the bing and there are already rumors that he’s clashing. And Justin Bieber is out here calling people the N-Word and wanting to join the KKK (or something like that). And they go into the studio? So, over the weekend they reportedly went into the studio together and everything was reportedly “la la la,” I am hearing something else.

I am hearing from sources close that the crews got to fighting! This all went down supposedly at the Record Plant in Hollywood. Apparently they got into it right outside of the studio in the wee hours over the weekend. But, it had to be bad, because people were seemingly frantic to get out of there. They were Ubering and calling cabs like mad people. There were presumably a lot of girls there too. Hoping that Breezy doesn’t get himself into any more trouble Also, hoping Justin…ahhhh never mind.

Game Disses XXL Freshman Cover + Tells Frank Ocean To "F*ck These F*ck N*ggas" On "Bigger Than Me"

Game is one of those rappers that at any point in time he will randomly vent out frustration so direct his target is almost impossible to miss. On his latest song “Bigger Than Me”, Game takes aim at the new generation of rappers with under five albums and specifically aims at the XXL Freshman cover.

Game and Lil Durk have exchanged tweets and lyrics since Durk’s “Chiraq (Remix)” verse last month.  While Game does not mention any names specifically, he does diss the entire XXL Freshman cover, which Durk appeared on this year:

I came in with Ye, Jeezy, and boss as* n*gas/Yo Freshman cover a whole bunch of soft a*s n*ggas.

Later Game made sure to tell “Frank Ocean, go ahead and f*ck these f*ck n*ggas.”

Kanye West Intentionally Refuses To Say Jay Z's Name During Bonaroo & X Games Performances (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Maybe it’s (fake) sibling rivalry or Kanye just coincidentally forgot the same lyric every time, but Mr. West has seemed to have sent a subliminal shot at his Big Brother.

In little over a week, Kanye West performed at the 2014 X-Games and 2014 Bonaroo festival. Always unpredictable, one constant that ran through both performances was Kanye;’s noticeable omission of Jay Z’s name in songs that mentioned the Roc Nation boss. During “Cold”, Touch The Sky” and “Blood on The Leaves”, Kanye can be heard altering lyrics to not mention his Watch The Throne collaborator.

For example on “Blood on the Leaves” Kanye says “I don’t give a damn if you used to talk to [pause], he ain’t with you, he with Beyonce”, possibly implying his gripe is with only one half of The Carter family. Rumors have circulated that the apparent slight to Jay Z derives from Jay Z and Beyonce missing West’s wedding last month.

Grandmaster Flash Talks Hip Hop's Expansion & Revolutionizing DJ Techniques (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) One of the advantages of Hip Hop being just 40 years old is the ability to still hear first-hand accounts from the culture’s forefathers. For example, Grandmaster Flash recently discussed his contributions to Hip Hop during an interview with Channel 4’s Krishnan Guru-Murthy in the United Kingdom.

Flash was in the country to perform at the Meltdown Festival. During a sound check for his show, the DJ pioneer spoke about why he feels Hip Hop successfully spread across the globe.

“Hip Hop to me – from a musical perspective – is poetry to the beat of music, but it started with music first,” said Flash. “We were using all these different genres of music from some of the greatest bands in the world. So when it left The Bronx and left America it was already imprinted to be something pretty big. We just didn’t know that.”

The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer later revealed what inspired him to revolutionize DJ techniques like punch phasing (clock theory) and back spinning (quick-mix theory). According to Flash, listening to instrumentalists like drummers get solos during songs set him on the path to creating a similar style for turntablists.

“That angered me to go into my room for about four years when I was a kid, and come up with some sort of turntable science on how I could take this incredibly brief moment that was the best part of the record in my mind, and expand on that,” explained Flash. “I would take a 10-second break and make it 10 minutes seamlessly, and that started the bed for rappers do what they do.”

Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five are considered one of the early Hip Hop acts that helped the genre spread beyond its origins in New York City. Their 1980’s classic record “The Message” has been named one of the greatest rap songs in history by numerous publications. The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007.

Rick Rubin Reuniting With Kanye West For New Album

(AllHipHop News) Depending on your opinion of Yeezus, news out of Great Britain may cause either a fist pump or an eye-roll. That’s because Rick Rubin has confirmed he will be working with Kanye West again for the rapper’s next album.

Rubin spoke with Zane Lowe of BBC Radio 1 for an interview that is set to premiere throughout the week. According to NME, the co-founder of Def Jam revealed he has started collaborating with Ye for his seventh studio LP.

“He originally came over and said ‘I wanna come play you my new album’ and I thought we’d be listening to a finished album. Then we listened to about three hours of music, most of which didn’t have vocals, and at the end I was like ‘wow, so what’s it gonna be?’ I’m thinking it’s a year away and he was like ‘well, I’m putting it out in like 5-6 weeks’,” said Rubin about listening to an unfinished Yeezus. “It was just a funny conversation because it was completely normal to him, it’s just the way he works… today, Kanye West is coming in and we’re starting looking at vocal ideas for things for the next album.”

Speculation about the direction Kanye West’s next project will take has ranged from spoken word to soulful and dark to a Otis Redding/Mobb Deep sound. Ye’s tour DJ Million Dollar Mano did suggest in April that the album will have a different soundscape than Yeezus.

Louie V Gutta Disses Meek Mill On "0 To 100 Freestyle"

(AllHipHop News) Two separate chain snatchings have caused a rift in Meek Mill’s DreamChasers camp. The Philadelphia rapper battled with his own artist Louie V Gutta recently on social media after Louie V lost a piece of jewelry in Atlanta and associate Slowbucks was hit for his chain at Hot 97’s Summer Jam.

The issues between Meek and Louie V have spilled over onto wax. After Meek threw a few subliminal shots at his former protégé on Drake’s “0 – 100” beat, Gutta fires back with his own version of the track which features him borrowing a classic Juvenile flow.

J. Cole Announces Dollar & A Dream 2 Secret Tour & Drops "Lights Please" Video

(AllHipHop News) June 15th was the 5th anniversary of J. Cole releasing his The Warm Up mixtape. That was the project that elevated the North Carolina native into the collective consciousness of the greater Hip Hop culture.

As part of the celebration for Cole’s second official mixtape, the rapper/producer previously announced he will be performing The Warm Up in its entirety during a summer tour. More details about the second edition of his Dollar & A Dream Tour have now emerged.

J. Cole will hit six cities, but the venues for each show will be revealed at a later date. Also, tickets are not being sold for the tour. Fans will have to follow J. Cole on Twitter to find out how they can get access to each $1 performance.

The Roc Nation signee also marked the five-year milestone by releasing the video for The Warm Up’s standout track “Lights Please.” The visuals were filmed in 2008, but Cole shared the video with the public for the first time while on MTV’s RapFix.

She goes through stages of domestic violence and prostitution for worldly and material possessions.

“Legal Tender” gives the audience a realistic depiction of what goes on in the lives of many young women. Although it exposes the dangers of prostitution as well as domestic violence, it also sheds light to a promising future where young girls can achieve success and true love if they veer away from a dangerous lifestyle.
