Slaughterhouse To Debut New Music At Live Show, Crooked I Shares More Album Details

(AllHipHop News) Crooked I, one fourth of the Slaughterhouse collective, has informed AllHipHop.com that the group will be debuting new music at their upcoming show this Tuesday (July 16) at The Highline Ballroom in New York City.

In an excerpt from a new interview with AllHipHop, Crooked I also had this to say about the new Slaughterhouse album:

“We (the group) were all out in New York together for 30 days and we decided to see what we can make together during that time. We reminded ourselves of the reasons why we started making music and why we fell in love with Hip-Hop. We ended up banging out about 30 to 40 joints in 30 days. Eminem and Paul Rosenberg told us to go in there and do whatever the fck we wanted to. They told us to just be Slaughterhouse and we took that opportunity to the fullest. You normally don’t get that kind of freedom on a major! They told us not to give a fck about doing club sh*t – just do whatever we wanted. It was like kids being in a candy shop and I think that’s why we banged out so many songs so quickly.

We formed a Slaughterhouse of producers, per say. We put together Just Blaze, the executive producer, and teamed him up with The Justice League and AraabMuzik. I was in Harlem and I sat outside of the studio rooms that they were working in just observing it all. In one room, I heard Just Blaze making some incredible sh*t and then in the other rooms, the Justice League and Araab were doing the same. To turn things up, they all asked us what other producers that we respected and we gave them some names, so they brought in Illmind and Cardiak.

All of these producers came together and I sat in the studio and watched them work. It was a rappers dream! It wasn’t like they were making beats separately. Someone would make a skeleton beat and then another would put music on top and then another would add more ideas on top of it. To me, it was one of the greatest experiences that I’ve ever had. I have a picture of all of those producers in one room together, working at separate stations, passing each other ideas. Something like that will probably not happen again for another 10 years.”

Stay tuned for the rest of our Crooked I interview.

Jay-Z & Kanye West Got Into An Argument Over "Oceans" & "Holy Grail"

(AllHipHop News) Last week The-Dream revealed that the track he produced, “Holy Grail,” for Jay-Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail album was actually created during the time Watch The Throne was being put together. Now NME is reporting that Jay tells BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe that “Holy Grail” and the song “Oceans” were at the center of an argument between he and Kanye West over which album should host the two tracks.

“We had this whole plan when me and Kanye did [the] Watch The Throne album that we would go right into our solos after that,” says Jay. “Soon as I thought we had wrapped up Watch The Throne, I made two records. I had ‘Holy Grail’ and ‘Oceans’.”

Jay-Z says he played the “Holy Grail” track, which did not have any lyrics yet, and “Oceans” for Kanye who suggested they put both songs on Watch The Throne.

“[Kanye] was like, ‘No those have to go on Watch The Throne, so we spent four days arguing about those records and I was explaining to him why it wasn’t right for this project and I had a whole idea for making this album called ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail’,” explains Jay.

Apparently the argument between Jay and Kanye never got out of hand, but the Roc Nation boss does say it got physical between some other people involved in the process.

“Four days, four days literally arguing, not like fighting. Well, there was some pushing at one point but not between us, just everyone else got a little excited,” recalls Jay.

This is not the first time a musical associate of Kanye has talked about how he is very passionate about the tracks he likes. G.O.O.D. Music emcee Pusha T spoke about having to steal the track “Who I Am” from Kanye who wanted the record for himself.

“I ran in the studio real quick and laid a verse to it. I was like, ‘Man nah, this is my record already. I already rapped to it. What are you talking about?’ We just went back and forth, and he ended up giving me the record,” Pusha told Danny Diaz of Power 98.

Daily Word: Justice was Served!!

Happy Monday my changers of circumstance! Welcome to the day we begin to become the change we would like to see in the world! Today’s Daily Word is dedicated to taking action against injustice! First and foremost my thoughts and prayers go out to the Martin family for their lost and what most of us see as injustice as George Zimmerman was found Not Guilty in the murder of Trayvon Martin! To most, this is a tragedy; but to some (including myself), Justice was served….. Wait…. Before you tune me out or get upset, Let me explain… Even though the past has shown that our system is not even close to fair, for many years we have relied on an unjust system to provide us with Justice! This is as absurd as us expected a thief not to steal from us because we are honest! The fact of the matter is that justice was served just as it has been in the past… If we continue to allow the wool to be pulled over our eyes we will continue to be wronged! It is imperative that as a people we ban together to create the change that we want to see! Blacking out our avatars and putting up our hoody’s is cool but not enough! We must be just as angry with what is happening in Chicago to our young boys as we are with this verdict! We must be just as angry with how we are being portrayed on television as we are with the acquittal! We must act and use our power to make sure that we are protected in this land of the free! As Cory Booker once said… “The power of the people is always greater than the people in power.” Let’s stop allowing the media to dictate when we should be outraged! Be outraged at the systematic racism that existed way before the fatal night of February 26, 2012! Be outraged that the unemployment rate in our communities are more than double that of the national average! Be outraged that more young people have died in Chicago than in Afghanistan (A country at war)!  Don’t believe the hype! We have a lot of work to do and one verdict would not have changed much! Let’s change ourselves now and create the world we NEED to see! Malcolm X once said “Usually when people are sad, they don’t do anything. They just cry over their condition. But when they get angry, they bring about a change.” So YESSSS!! I am happy that you are angry…. Now what are you going to do about it???

50 Cent Explains Delay Of Long-Awaited 5th Album

(AllHipHop News) 50 Cent has been talking about his fifth studio album, Street King Immortal, for several years, and while the rapper/businessman has released three free projects since 2011 the world still awaits the arrival of his next official LP.

The G-unit leader spoke with MTV News about why the project has been delayed for so long.

“I don’t really need the money off of the record. I want the record to be right. I’m not doing it without a plan. I’m not putting it out like that,” said 50. “It’s a lot of staff changes [at Interscope Records], a lot of different people moving in and moving out, so you got to kind of wait until everything’s right.”

50 Cent last studio album was 2009’s Before I Self-Destruct. He dropped The Big 10 mixtape in 2011, and last year he released The Lost Tape and the free album 5 (Murder by Numbers).

50 recently appeared on J. Cole’s “New York Times” off his number one album Born Sinner. He also collaborated with Kendrick Lamar for the single “We Up.”

In the time between releasing albums the Queens native has  branched out into other entertainment fields like television and boxing promotion.

Lil Reese Arrested Again: "I Got A Little Weed. So What?"

(AllHipHop News) Chicago rapper Lil Reese was arrested once again over the weekend after police found 24 grams of marijuana on him. According to a police report Reese (Tavares Taylor) was stopped by officers after he was seen standing with what police called known gang members.

When officers approached the area where the young men were standing, Reese turned and began walking away and then allegedly pulled a bag with a green substance out of his pocket.

Reese was then searched by police and they found the weed and $2,090 in cash on his person. Officers asked the 20-year-old where the money came from and according to the report Reese responded with, “It’s mine, I got a little weed. So what?”

The close affiliate of Chief Keef then apparently went on to say, “There’s serious crime out there. This ain’t a big deal. I’m gangster.”

This makes the third arrest for Reese in the last 4 months. A few weeks ago he was arrested for misdemeanor theft for using false documentation to acquire a BMW, and in April he was charged with criminal trespass to a residence with persons present, mob action, and battery.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Obama To File Charges Against George Zimmerman?

Folks like to think Obama is out there for Black people and he’s not. So, there is a rumor going on that seems to suggest that OBAMA is going to file charges against Zimmerman. This rumor is out there and people are believing it, but there’s nothing more false about it.

Here is what is going around.

obama_zimmerman

The fact is, Obama has done very little, but he did speaking out about it. He’s getting flack for it now that that Zimmerman beat the case. The facts are organizations like the NAACP are lobbying for the Dept of Justice to put Zimmerman on trial, asserting that he violated Trayvon’s Civil Rights.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Lil Kim Sends A Lil Diss To Cash Money

Lil Kim won’t do very many interviews, which is evident with AHH’s inability to lock in with her. BUT, she continues to put out new material. The Queen Bee is out here and almost got down with Cash Money. But, that deal never happened and clearly, Nicki has the number 1 female slot on that label. No Kim’s allowed. She may be setting herself up for some jokes with the title of her new song, “Looks Like Money.” The song is pretty cool. Here is the line and the song, below.

“Cash Money is so last year/ now when I do a show they pay me in gold.”

Hip-Hop Rumors: Did Beyonce Scrap Her Album?

The Bey Hive is looking around with the Scooby Doo face right now.

There are rumors that Beyonce has killed her album! There are conflicting reports though. Some reports say its the scrapping of an album and others say a single.

“I just did two songs for her new album, well, I tried,”  DJ/producer Diplo said in an interview. “I think she scrapped the record. The record was supposed to be done and they have been hitting me up for brand new ideas. I like to work from scratch, [but] sometimes I get called in to fix songs.”

Eventually, the Bey Hive got him to clear up the mess, saying that she scrapped HIS songs, not her entire album.

Hmmmm…..still shouldn’t it have come out by how or at least a new song?

Underground Effects Artist Of The Week: Soul Khan

[twitter-follow screen_name=’AllHipHopcom’] [twitter-follow screen_name=’SkyyhookRadio’]

Soul Khan is off to one heck of a year already and judging by some of the work he put in on Soulstice III his colleagues should be afraid, yes, they should be very afraid.

Soul Khan has risen through the ranks of the battle emcee’s, he has done and is doing amazing things with his Brown Bag brethren, but it’s the personal pieces in his solo projects that get people staring at this man and silently wondering, “Where in the hell did that verse come from?” and the answer is simple. The verses are from his heart.

This artists is more than just metaphorically clever. He speaks truth to power with a wit that can not be taught. He is able to transform any news story into something the listener can grasp and digest and he never shies away from the fight. He uses Hip Hop in a very nostalgic way because for Soul Khan Hip Hop is  a call to arms. Only the difference between Soul Khan and a lot of these knuckleheads out here is his words are his weapon of choice and with them he can mow down a mere mortal with ease.

Check out an example of what we mean in the song below!

And here’s a classic example of his skills from one of our all time favorite SK songs to further reinforce our point!

As Zimmerman Jury Goes to Deliberate, Fruitvale Station Hits Theaters

The film about the life and death of 22-year-old Oscar Grant killed by BART police in the early morning hours of New Years Day 2009 is in theaters today.

Grant was returning home from celebrating New Years Eve with his girlfriend and friends when a fight broke out on the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) train. After being detained by BART police, unarmed Grant was shot in the back and killed while laying prostrate before officers. The officer charged with his slaying was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter after stating that he shot Grant accidently, confusing his gun with his taser.

The slaying of Oscar Grant prompted several violent protests in Oakland, as well as numerous non-violent events of support, including tribute shows by local hip-hop artists.

The movie, Fruitvale Station, was named after the station where Grant was shot. The heartbreaking and amazingly portrayed film stars Michael B. Jordan (Chronicle, Parenthood) and Academy Award winner, Octavia Spencer. The film was executive produced by Forrest Whitaker. Fruitvale Station won “Prize of the Future” at the Cannes Film Festival as well as U.S. Dramatic Grand Jury Prize and U.S. Dramatic Audience Award and is already being considered an Oscar contender.

Fruitvale Station is in theaters now.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Lil Kim And Floyd Mayweather? A Love Thing?

Soooooooo……

There have been rumors about Kim and Floyd, but it seems like it may be back on. Floyd posted a pair of expensive shoes that he bought for Kim! Check them out. To me, they just look gaudy, but I asked a chick I like, but doesn’t like me back and she said they were hot.

floyd_kim
Anyway, this has reignited the rumors that they are a couple. I didn’t write about it but Floyd broke off his nuptials with this fiancee so he’s free and clear. I know one thing, if if loses his next fight, I know who to blame!

Peace to the Queen Bee and King Floyd!
