Drumma Boy Says 2 Chainz's "B.O.A.T.S. II" Will Be Album Of The Year

(AllHipHop News) Drumma Boy has a long history of working with Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz including crafting tracks for his Trap-A-Velli 2 and T.R.U. REALigion mixtapes. The Grammy nominated producer also contributed to Chainz’s upcoming B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time album, and according to Drumma the LP will be the best project released this year.

“This B.O.A.T.S. II is definitely gonna be the album of the year! The sounds are so fresh and full of energy – perfect for waking up to, riding on the road to, and of course partying to,” says Drumma. “Me and 2 Chainz were in the studio, and when he heard the beat I made he just zoned out into a quiet mumble. He just started coming up with the lyrics straight off the top of the head and after about 10 minutes or so he was in the booth, and we had ‘U Da Realist.'”

“U Da Realist” is dedicated to one of 2 Chainz friends who passed away. The song will appear on the album along with the lead single “Feds Watching” and the Drake and Lil Wayne collaboration “I Do It.”

Drumma Boy has also worked with Wayne recently. The Tennessee native produced the track “Still Got That Rock” off Wayne’s Dedication 5 mixtape.

“I bumped into Lil Wayne recently at the Memphis Grizzlies’ game during the playoffs,” says Drumma. “When he was walking out I told him ‘I still got that crack,’ because every time I bump into him I say that, ‘I got that crack for you,’ so he told me to send it. I did, and the result became the joint ‘Still Got That Rock’.”

2 Chainz’s B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time will be released September 10th. Lil Wayne’s Dedication 5 is available now via datpiff.com. Drumma Boy is scheduled to appear on the September 17th episode of MTV 2’s Wild N’ Out with Machine Gun Kelly.

Rock On: The 10 Best Hip Hop Billy Squier Samples

While lots of 80s rock music can be summarized by long hair, bright lights, and an obligatory ballad, not all of it faded away when the final decade of the 20th century began.  Some artists have been given another life via Hip-Hop records which sample them.

One such case is Boston rocker Billy Squier.  Of course the name doesn’t ring a bell but pay closer attention to the credits on some of your favorite songs and be amazed.

In recognition of Squier’s 1981 hit “The Stroke” now being sampled on Eminem’s new single, “Berzerk,” AllHipHop came up with a list of the 10 Best songs to sample Billy Squier.

10). “Worker Ant Uprise” by Company Flow

“The Stroke” is a well-known song.  It broke into the Top 20 on the charts when it was released in 1981 and has more recently appeared in films starring Adam Sandler, Tom Hanks, and Will Ferrell.  Therefore, it’s a risk to sample because of its popularity.  But Company Flow took a chance for their ’99 instrumental album which resulted in one of the project’s best cuts.

9). “Girl on Fire” by Alicia Keys

While Keys’ empowering chorus is the highlight of this song, “The Big Beat” drum track also helps provide the music to accentuate the commanding vocals.  It peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and went double platinum.  If only hit singles with substance weren’t so few and far between.

Song Sampled: “The Big Beat”

8). “Out of This World” by A$AP Rocky

One of A$AP Rocky’s strengths is his knack for selecting beats.  The Olympicks-produced track closes out Live.Love. A$AP strong as he name drops his contemporaries at the time.  “They say Tyga and Diggy, but Rocky been Jiggy/Curren$y from the Wiz ain’t enough to get me home/Can’t really hate when they compare me to Drake/Could have been J. Cole if I met Jay Hov‘.”

Song Sampled: “The Big Beat”

7). “Real N****z Don’t Die” by N.W.A

N.W.A wasted no time proving that they had more attitude than ever on their sophomore LP.  In one of Dr. Dre’s most memorable productions pre-Death Row, he samples no less than ten records and fuses them all together really well.  The skills Dre displayed here showed the early roots of G-funk which he perfected a year and a half later on The Chronic.

Song Sampled: “The Big Beat”

6). “Looking for Trouble” by Kanye West feat. J.Cole, Big Sean, Cyhi Da Prynce, and Pusha T

It’s debatable who had the best verse here, but J. Cole definitely went in on it and so it was rightfully placed as a bonus cut on his Friday Night Lights mixtape.  Overall though, it was a great look for GOOD Friday music, and helped newcomers get exposure alongside a superstar producer like Kanye and a more seasoned rapper like Pusha T.

Song Sampled: “The Big Beat”

5). “Ain’t No Half-Steppin’” by Big Daddy Kane

Big Daddy Kane is an agile rapper and “Ain’t No Half-Steppin’” is one of the reasons why.  In four verses, he lives up to his claim that he is the Ginsu machete to all other emcees “butter knife” status.  A quarter of a century after its release, this Kane classic is still a piece of work that so-called great emcees are being measured against.

Song Sampled: “The Big Beat”

4). “Berzerk” by Eminem

Back around the time Marshall Mathers was being harassed daily by that fat kid named D’Angelo Bailey, a punk band transitioned to rap and blew up as the Beastie Boys.  In homage to to their contributions, Em  brought back their sound and producer extraordinaire, Rick Rubin, in order for a new generation of Hip-Hop fans to see how old-school never goes out of style.

Song Sampled: “The Stroke”

3). “Hip Hop is Dead” by Nas feat. will.i.am

Nas daringly flipped Iron Butterfly’s “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida” for the lead singles to two of his albums in a row.  However, one difference between the two records is that “Hip Hop is Dead” also samples Squier’s “The Big Beat.”  While Hip Hop is Dead’s title track suggests otherwise, him and will.i.am prove that the Bronx-born culture is alive and well.

Song Sampled: “The Big Beat”

2). “Fix Up, Look Sharp” by Dizzee Rascal

Written when he was just in his teens, British rapper Dizzie Rascal’s “Fix Up, Look Sharp” would be a career highlight.  The emcee was far from a one trick pony though because the album on which the song appears won the highly coveted Mercury Prize in the UK and found acclaim in the States too.  Chris Rock even named it as one of his 25 favorite rap albums ever in 2005.

Song Sampled: “The Big Beat”

1). “99 Problems” by Jay Z

Not Unlike “Berzerk,” track 9 from Jay Z’s Black Album utilizes vintage sounds and Rick Rubin’s production wizardry.  The chorus and title borrow from a 1993 Ice-T record, but while the original focuses on sex, the 2003 version covers more ground.  From drug dogs to critics to a male aggressor, Jay overcomes it all in one of the most memorable songs from the 00’s.

Song Sampled: “The Big Beat”

Daily Word: Tap Into Your Inner-Weirdo!

Happy Friday my strange and oddly peculiar! Welcome to the day you begin to embrace your differences and use them to get to the next level of life! Today’s Daily Word is dedicated to tapping your inner-weirdo! Weird·o – wi(ə)rdō/ – noun – informal – which means a person whose dress or behavior seems strange or eccentric. While I would love to educate you with my fashion 101 lessons, this type of weirdo has nothing to do with how one dresses…. The weirdo I’m talking about is the one that lives inside, who is different with many idiosyncrasies that we tried to hide! Contrary to popular belief being the “different you” and true weirdo that you  really are is the best way to get to your dreams and aspirations faster! Your environment grooms you to be the same in order to fit it and survive but truth be told you were born to stand out! Be a Weirdo! Behave in the uncommon way inorder to reach your uncommon goals! Because as the saying goes…. “Today I will do what others won’t, so tomorrow I can accomplish what others can’t” Embrace the perfect you that already exist and take what you deserve!

Papoose Releases Big Sean Diss Track "First Chain (Remix)"

(AllHipHop News) It seems New York emcee Papoose is on a verbal warpath. After first taking shots at Kendrick Lamar on his “Control” freestyle, Pap has now set his targets on G.O.O.D. Music’s Big Sean. Seems Papoose took issue to Sean’s actions during a recent interview on The Breakfast Club morning show when Sean answered “who” when asked about Pap.

In response, Papoose released a remix to Sean’s Hall of Fame track “First Chain.” On it he calls the Detroit rapper’s new album “trash,” makes more references to Kanye West wearing women’s clothes, and rhymes “every time they play ‘Control,’ they skip your verse.”

Hip-Hop Rumors: Lamar Odom Sex Tape? Noooooooooo!

Khloe Kardashian sure picked a winner! All these Black men out here and she picked a crack smoking hooper! And just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse, there are now rumors that Lamar Odom has a sex tape on the way. The Star magazine is saying that Khloe will now have to contend with and X-Rated sex tape with Odom and it is now for sale. Seems like he had some dealings with a chick considered a “Hip-Hop dancer” – and POOF – we have the threat of a sex tape! Their source said “[Khloe] wasn’t going to leave Lamar,” our source reveals. “She was trying to get him help and work on forgiving him in an attempt to save their marriage. But this is just too much for her to deal with.” Also, one of my sources told me that Kris Kardashian (who’s show just got cancelled despite the Kanye appearance) is totally trying to destroy Lamar for screwing up the family. Who she think she is? Griselda Blanco?

Meanwhile, he may or may NOT have checked into rehab.

(AllHipHopNews) It appears Shady’s back. According to Billboard, Eminem’s new single “Berzerk” sold 362,000 downloads in its first week. The total was enough to land Em in the number 3 spot on the Hot 100 chart behind Katy Perry’s “Roar” at 1 and Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” at 2.

J. Drew Is On A Mission To Change The State Of R&B Music

(AllHipHop Features) J. Drew grew up in a family of gospel singers. He is the son of Grammy winner Karen Clark-Sheard and the sister of top-selling performer Kierra Sheard. With that lineage many expected Drew would continue in the family business whenever he decided to start recording his own music, but the 23-year-old producer/singer has taken a different route embracing the sounds of R&B and Hip Hop instead.

“I really have a strong passion and love for R&B music as a whole,” says Drew. “I’m really a fan of Hip Hop more than anything. I love rap music.”

Drew’s love for Hip Hop currently includes the work of Jay Z, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, and Drake. On the R&B side he mentions Beyoncé as a favorite, but it is Stevie Wonder who Drew names as his musical idol. He even refers to himself as a “Steviehead.”

Besides Wonder’s undeniable legacy in music, it is even more understandable why Drew holds the Motown legend in such high regard when looking at the young entertainer’s own life. Both singers were raised in Detroit, Michigan. Like Stevie, Drew is also a multi-instrumentalist who plays piano, bass, and drums. His connection to the creator of Songs in the Key of Life also revolves around the fact both performers have had to carry the “child prodigy” label.

“I actually started at a very young age. I remember I really started taking it seriously when my mom and dad bought me my first drum machine,” Drew explains. “It was an MPC 2000 XL, and I still use it to this day. I think I was about 9 or 10 when they bought that for me.”

By his teen years Drew was officially a professional producer. Before he was even old enough to drive he was contributing to his sister Kierra’s albums, and eventually became the first and youngest producer signed to Pharrell Williams’ Star Trak label.

“[Pharrell’s N.E.R.D.] band members are like my big brothers, and they were playing my songs on this tour bus. Pharrell came on the bus, heard it and was like, “Who’s this kid?’” says Drew. “He was like ‘I want to meet him. Tell him to come to the next show. We’ll be in Detroit next week.’ I met him, gave him a CD, and then a couple of months later he was like ‘I want to sign this kid.'”

Drew has now started his journey from behind the boards to in front of a microphone. His current single “Strip” featuring Rocko is a trap rap influenced ode dedicated to the hard-working women of night spots like Magic City and King Of Diamonds.

To go from creating tracks suitable for praising dancing to recording songs celebrating pole dancing may seem like it would be too big of a transition for the son of one of the members of the legendary The Clark Sisters gospel group, but according to Drew his parents are understanding of his decision to pursue R&B music.

“My parents’ reaction? They were pretty much supportive for the most part. They were cool,” says Drew. “Their only issue is just me getting too far, and their concerns come from the lifestyle that comes with being in the R&B world. They just have their concerns, which all parents have, about their children going into that realm of music.”

Drew insists he is not chasing his musical dreams for the party lifestyle that often surrounds being a celebrity. He is focused on his goal to shift the state of R&B music.

“It is very important to me that a new sound is born in this music industry. Particularly in the R&B world,” states Drew. “I see Hip Hop making it’s change, especially with the Kendrick Lamar verse that he just came out with, so I’m very exciting about that. I just kind of want to be that new wave for R&B music.”

[ALSO READ: “While Everyone Watched The Throne, Kendrick Lamar Sat In It.”]

The star-on-the-rise recently released his Never Coming Back EP. Up next Drew plans to drop a video for “Strip,” and one or two more EPs before he releases his first full studio album. He also may be working on a second season of BET’s docu-series The Sheards or perhaps some other projects on his own. His immediate future centers around picking up the contemporary R&B torch held by another teenage phenom-turned-soul singer.

“I believe that it’s awesome that Justin Timberlake is bringing this real sexy R&B, grown sounding music back,” says Drew. “I think that whole movement is kind of the set-up, and then if you allow me to humbly say this, I’m the one who’s going to carry it all the way to where it’s suppose to be.”

Hartford Mayor to Dave Chappelle: Quit Whining

(AllHipHop News) Dave Chappelle was so upset about the “young white alcoholic” crowd at his August 29th stand up performance at Hartford, CT that he said he’d be happy if North Korea dropped a bomb in the city. Hartford mayor Pedro Segarra has a response to Dave: Quit complaining.

TMZ caught up with Segarra and he voiced his disapproval of Dave’s actions and following comments:

Dave Chappelle needs to quit whining, do his job and try some yoga. is recent remarks were immature and inappropriate. [He] should stick to his job, give the fans what they paid for and not disparage the good people of Hartford.

Dave will no doubt have a response to these comments. Stay tuned.

David Banner Introduces Live-Action Superhero Series "Walking With Gods"

(AllHipHop News) Mississippi rapper/producer David Banner shares a last name with comic book character Bruce Banner, the mild-mannered physicist who transforms into the building-smashing Hulk, so it is fitting that the Southern University graduate would want to venture into making superhero art. Instead of putting his stories on pages, David Banner embraces new media by creating a live action series on YouTube.

Banner’s Walking With Gods centers around the main character Aket Heru. Aket is betrayed by his brother Liel after he discovers that Aket will ascend to the throne when their royal father dies. Aket is stripped of his memory by the evil spirit Setus and becomes completely unaware of his powers. Setus kills Aket’s family and keeps him alive for thousands of years simply for entertainment.

After Aket, now known as Alex Light, becomes awakened to his god-like abilities, he goes on a mission to fully restore his powers and break the age-old curse.

The first four parts to the series have been released so far. Walking With Gods is funded by Banner’s 2M1 Movement.

“The 2M1 Movement represents a grassroots attempt to assert our collective independence by taking control of our movies, our music and our creative content,” said Banner in a statement.

Fake Four Records Owner Ceschi Ramos Serving Time For Drug Conviction

(AllHipHop News) Ceschi Ramos, musician and owner of Fake Four Records, started serving an 18- month prison sentence yesterday (September 4).

The jail time stems from a drug bust on Christmas Day 2010, where Ceschi was charged with purchasing over 100 pounds of marijuana that was shipped cross-country from California to Connecticut, colorfully wrapped as Christmas gifts.

A plea bargain helped Ceschi avoid a 5–7 year sentence for the conviction.

Since yesterday, an IndieGoGo web page started by Ceschi’s brother, David Ramos has raised over $15,000 to help with legal fees and administrative costs for the record label during Ceschi’s prison term.

Ceschi says, “In the end, nearly 3 years later, I’ve been left with nearly $50,000 in legal debt. My best option was to accept a plea bargain compared to the 5 to 7 years I was facing.”

Fake Four records is a popular independent record label specializing in Experimental Hip-Hop which has released dozens of acclaimed albums by artists such as Myka 9, Blue Sky Black Death, Dark Time Sunshine, Open Mike Eagle, and Busdriver.

“Your support over the past 24 hours has been overwhelming. My brother now has an additional government issued number to add to his tax i.d., Social Security, and driver’s license numbers. In other words, he has been processed, now has an inmate number, and hopefully I will be able to see him today,” added Ceschi’s brother David Ramos. “I can’t express the magnitude of appreciation that my family and I have for all of you right now. Beyond the financial support, you have proven that Ceschi has influenced and positively impacted so many people with his music, Fake Four, and just being who he is. He is not just another prison number to all of us.”

Check out this Youtube video of Ceschi speaking on the situation:
