Peter Schwartz knows a few things about the Hip-Hop touring business.
With nearly twenty years of experience representing mostly urban talent, he has booked close to 25,000 shows and hundreds of tours and shows no signs of slowing down.
He has already helped develop some of the biggest names in not just Hip-Hop, but the entire music biz: Jay-Z, De La Soul, Method Man and Redman, Wu Tang Clan, A Tribe Called Quest, and Run-D.M.C. (just to name a few). And with a current roster that includes Wiz
Khalifa, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Mac Miller, Schoolboy Q, Waka Flocka Flame, A$AP Rocky, and Big K.R.I.T., it is clear that Peter is ready to assist in making today’s promising talent into tomorrow’s superstars all over again.
“The days of needing the label backing are just not needed,” he said. “We’ve got artists that are selling out many thousand capacity venues just based on Internet that don’t have labels-whether it’s Mac Miller or Macklemore and Ryan Lewis.”
Clearly, things have changed in the touring world and this is a man who is on the cutting-edge of it all.
“For many years, I was considered to be the guy booking underground Hip-Hop,” he added. “And “underground” just meant that they weren’t on big labels. At this point, there really is no underground. A brand-new artist can have their video have a million views and suddenly they’re more exposed than from what a label might have done. many years back.”
AllHipHop.com had the pleasure of speaking with Peter about bringing something that was once called “underground” to the masses and what to expect in 2013.
AllHipHop.com: How would you say the economy has affected the touring business?
Peter Schwartz: We had the “Under the Influence of Music Tour” this past summer in amphitheaters with Wiz headlining and Mac Miller. And a really good line-up of Hip-Hop and we were able to do 20 to 25,000 pay per day based on the ticket price being really fair and reasonable for the young demo that was going to come out. You could get a lawn seat for 20 or 25 dollars. And for seven artists to perform in front of you, that was an incredible deal. We were pretty much presenting a festival line-up, and if we had gone with a festival price of 75 or 100 dollars a ticket, I could see our attendance being cut in half. When it comes to economy for us, it’s more of being conscience of the ticket price and what that demo and the market can bear.
AllHipHop.com: What would you say the most memorable Hip-Hop concert you’ve ever seen or worked with is so far?
Peter Schwartz: That’s a really tough one. I mean I’ve seen thousands and thousands and thousands of shows. [Laughs]. I feel like I’ve seen thousands this year alone. That’s tough. I don’t know. I’d say, in terms of current times, I think the shows that I saw at the “Under the Influence of Music Tour”- this past summer. (They were) some of the best to me just based on seeing artists come together and being able to create an event that would do 20 to 25,000 people because that’s bigger than an arena size and it’s not typical that Hip-Hop artists go out and do those type of numbers.
AllHipHop.com: What do Hip-Hop concertgoers have to look forward to in 2013?
Peter Schwartz: We’re going to do the “Under the Influence of Music Tour” again this summer. And take it from 12 cities to 25 cities. So we are in the packaging process of that tour and (it’s something) I really look forward to. I think that’s gonna be a big, big summer tour in 2013. Other notable things, we have A$AP Rocky going on tour with Rihanna. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are on fire. Mac Miller is going to support Lil Wayne in Europe in March. And there’s lots of good young acts we’re working with that we’re excited to watch take off. Some of those would include Juicy J, Joey Bada$$, Watsky, Schoolboy Q, Rockie Fresh.
We also have a couple of female artists coming-Snow Tha Product and Nova Rockerfeller. There aren’t too many females out there, so that’s always exciting. Big Boi’s album just dropped this week; he’ll be touring (this) year. Another version of the “Smoker’s Club Tour” will go out. Another young one that can’t be forgotten is Trinidad James. He’ll do his first headlining tour in February and March. And then we’ll be looking to build him up from there. He’ll also be hitting some key festivals which I can’t announce yet, but coming soon.
Who are you looking forward to seeing live this year? Who do you think will be the king of Hip-Hop tours for 2013? Let us know in the comments section!
Hours after their jammed back premiere party for the newest season of Love & Hip Hop (New York), cast members and the newly engaged Erica Mena and Rich Dollaz caused gridlock at a New York’s hot spot eatery.
The couple thought it would be romantic to…have sexy time in the bathroom.
Staffers at the restaurant Cafeteria banged on the door repeatedly. According to the NY Post, the couple stumbled out looking like Pop’s in Boomerang. Dollaz could barely stand up. Very impressive Erica.
Police were called by the restaurant but the couple rode off.
Happy Monday my Gifted and Talented! Welcome to the beginning of the best week of your life! Today’s Daily Word is dedicated to Getting results! If you think about all the things you didn’t accomplish last year, I can guarantee that you probably have some great reasoning as to why not! I can bet that you are probably able to pinpoint where you went wrong and how you are going to do it different this time around.
Without even hearing the reason I can assure you that it has everything to do with your effort! The truth of the matter is that reasons don’t count! By any means necessary is the way to live! If you do not have what you want out of life then that means that you have to put in more effort! You get out of life what you put into it! You can find all the reasoning in the world but you are simply just wasting time! Instead of finding ways to justify or excuse yourself, find a solution that will give you the results you desire! You can plan all you want but if you don’t put that plan in motion then your plan means nothing! As the saying goes… Even if you are the right track, you will get run over if you just sit there! Stop your reasoning and get results!! NOTHING CAN STOP YOU BUT YOU!!

(AllHipHop News) Hip-Hop star Nicki Minaj is slated to ink a deal this week, that will create a new line of fashion, accessories and housewares for a yet-to-be named retailer.
According to reports, Nicki Minaj could announce the deal as early as this week, with a massive retailer such as a K-mart, Wal-Mart or Target.
While details are limited, the rapper will end up with her own line of clothing, thanks to a deal negotiated by industry veteran Charles Koppelman.
Koppelman, who has headed up EMI, Steve Madden and Martha Stewart Living, helped negotiate a deal for Nicki, as well as Maroon 5’s Adam Levine.
Nicki, who is currently a judge on “American Idol,” already has a presence in the fashion world, thanks to deals with M.A.C, Macy’s, adidas and Pepsi.

(AllHipHop News) The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) has issued a statement over controversial comments made by rapper Azealia Banks, during a Twitter dispute with celebrity blogger Perez Hilton.
Azealia Banks is an aspiring rapper, who gets more press for her controversial comments and feuds on the Internet, than she does for her music.
During her latest feud with female rapper Angel Haze, celebrity blogger Perez Hilton commented on the dispute.
Perez Hilton sided with Angel Haze in the feud, which apparently ticked off Azealia Banks, who made several off-color comments about his sexuality.
Azealia Banks labeled Perez Hilton a “messy fa**ot.”
“Regardless of her intent or her personal definition, what matters is the meaning given to that word by those who hear it, and the damage it causes when they do,” GLAAD said in a statement. “Undoubtedly there are gay kids who follow her on Twitter who hear this word in an entirely different context. This word is used almost universally by bullies, often as part of a larger verbal or physical assault. This word hurts those kids, no matter what Banks meant by it.
Azealia Banks later attempted to back pedal over the comments, saying that she was not referring to gay males.
LISTEN: Hip-Hop is doing just fine. Even though it may not be exactly what we want, it really hasn’t been that since the very beginning. Now, Jay-Z is the don of dons to this day in Hip-Hop. Really like what dude is doing, even though he has his fair share of critics. With the rumors that he’s moving on, I am hearing Jigga man has signed the boy Joey Bada$$ to THE ROC! Man, the kid Joey is only 17 but he’s got bars of fury!
Here he is with Capital STEEZ, bless the dead.
Furthermore, Joey is from Brooklyn! Wow. He’s got that 90’s rawness!
Here is his whole album 1999.
Jay is smart for this one, should it be totally true. I gotta give it up. This is smart, because this young man is hungry. Rumor has it, Jay has given up on Jay Electronica. Read about that here.

I ain’t gonna lie. When I heard the Meek Mill diss by Cassidy, this is how I felt:

CASS WENT IN!
Well…moving on…its all out there. First things first, Meek Mill responded to Cass, but he was quite dismissive of the “R.A.I.D.” song that some are saying ethered him. I’m not sure all that happened, but I will say this Cassidy did a song worthy of a response. Hip-Hop dudes that’s engaged in this battle sh*t duel to the death or til they get tired! Now, Meek saying that we gonna forget about Cass in a few days? Hmmmm…no, he’s quite remembered for his battles. Remember that Freeway battle? Anyway, I hope we can take it like we dish it, because this Hip-Hop, baby! I know Meek has a lot more to lose at this point. Hoping he decides to respond because Cass just upped the ante in a major way. A non-response would mean that he fears Cass would get at him OR even get at the crew. Cass said enough about Ross and them to warrant a reply. No don’t quite think anybody wants that problem right now. Too much money on the line. Too much to lose. But, if Meek comes back, he will need to do it in a more scathing fashion.
Meek responds to R.A.I.D.

The internet speaks:
This pic…says a lot. Remember when Meek was signed to T.I.? That was clearly after this pic was taken.

Here they saying that Wale is reading poetry at Meek’s funeral.

This kinda funny with the pic.

Meek has moved on…though.

COME ON MEEK! GET THAT EYE OF THE TIGER BACK! BE THE KING OF PHILLY!

//
The ball is in Meek court, but I don’t know. That R.A.I.D. may stop the game.

While the details are still being confirmed, according to his family, Freddy E took his own life with a self-inflicted rifle shot to the head.
Fans of Freddy E eerily witnessed the suicide via Twitter as Freddy E documented the whole tragedy on his Twitter account @Freddy_E.
Freddy E was reportedly signed to Tyga’s Last Kings imprint and had a widely popular YouTube Channel called Jerk TV.
The suicide is the second suicide in as many weeks after Progressive Era rapper, Capital Steez took his own life on Christmas Eve last year.
While details are still sketch about why Freddy E took his own life, many of Freddy E’s fans have speculated that he was grief-stricken over a failed relationship with Honey Cocaine.
Freddy E’s parents released a statement regarding their son’s death.
“Today, our son, Frederick Eugene Buhl (@freddy_e), age 22 years old, took his own life with a rifle shot to the head. Our family is saddened beyond words; our loss is great; this tragedy is enormous and unforeseen. RELATED: POLL: DID MEEK GO IN AND KILL CASSIDY’S CAREER?
Now, if you look at the results of the previous poll, a vast majority felt that Cassidy was very much alive. Check the stats on that by hitting that link. I think most people were waiting for Cass’ revenge. HERE IT IS….
Cassidy (Meek Mill Diss) “R.A.I.D.”
The crazy thing is I liked Meek’s diss, but it was more of a song than a diss…a dope song. But a dope diss? Not sure. I was caught up in the energy of it all. But, Cassidy, on the other hand, he brought a straight up DISS. And its 10 minutes long. And its fire. And the thing I like about this is that the song gets more and more intense as it goes along. BUT…the question is: DID CASS GO IN AND KILL MEEK MILL’S CAREER?
TAKE THE POLL! Its identical to the last one.
THE CRAZY THING IS….CASS MENTIONED MMG…and slick dissed Rozay. Wonder if this spills over into crews versus crew. Perhaps he means some of the Philly dudes that Meek runs with. Philly on fire!
