MC Lyte’s Foundation Offering $100k Hip-Hop Scholarship To One Student

(AllHipHop News) Rap star MC Lyte and her charity Hip Hop Sisters Foundation recently announced a new $100,000 Hip-Hop scholarship that will be offered to one student to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The advisory board of Hip Hop Sisters, which includes Russell Simmons, President Lynn Richardson, Melanie Fiona, Salt, will be on hand to announce the “First Wave” scholarship tomorrow (September 6) from Rush Communications, Simmons’ New York headquarters.

The Hip Hop Sisters board will be joined by UW-Madison’s VP and Chief Diversity Officer, Damon Williams during the press conference at Simmons’ office.

“For years I’ve dreamed of having the ability to help our community and now finally the day has arrived,” MC Lyte told AllHipHop.com. “HHSF is about changing lives and truly encouraging several generations that have been and are influenced by Hip-Hop culture. It is my life’s mission to see those who believe, actually see their dreams come to fruition. Helping the younger generation see their strengths and potential is what my goals are for this foundation. This scholarship partnership with UW-Madison is just the beginning for what HHSF has in store.”

The scholarship will allow one lucky recipient to receive an all-expense paid trip to college, with the goal of earning a Bachelor’s degree from UW-Madison.

“This partnership signals an opportunity to help young people influenced by hip hop culture think of education as an achievable goal rather than a phantom wish reserved only for the lucky,” Russell Simmons added.

The deadline to apply for the scholarship is October 1. The winner will be announced at this year’s Soul Train Music Awards.

(AllHipHop News) Incarcerated Hip-Hop mogul James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond has issued a statement on the death of Chris Lighty.

Chris Lighty and his company violator management handled 50 Cent’s career through a, deadly feud with Rosemond’s Czar Entertainment.

In fact, Rosemond is currently awaiting a trial for his role in the murder of one of 50 Cent’s associates.

Despite the two men’s differences, Rosemond issued a statement in honor of his deceased colleague.

“Chris, you were my peer in business and in life. We learned the game together. You will be missed,” Jimmy “Henchman” Rosemond told AllHipHop.com.

Memorial services are being held for lady today (September 5) in New York, almost a week after he killed himself (August 30) in his Bronx, New York apartment.

“Czar Entertainment family expresses our condolences to the Lighty family due to Chris Lighty’s untimely death,” Rosemond’s publicist Sibrena Stowe de Fernandez of LaChic Media added.

Memorial Service For Chris Lighty Set For Today

(AllHipHop News) Final services will be held for music mogul Chris Lighty today (September 5) in New York.

The 44-year-old, who ran Violator Management and Primary Wave Management, died from an apparent suicide, on August 30.

During his career 20-plus career, Chris Lighty was one of the music industry’s top business managers, with a roster of celebrities like Mariah Carey, Sean “Diddy” Combs, 50 Cent, LL Cool J., Busta Rhymes and numerous others.

Rapper 50 Cent, who earned most of his wealth thanks to the famous vitamin water deal, is still in shock over Chris Lighty’s death.

“Damn my man is gone, I can’t believe it,” 50 recently tweeted. “I woke up on the plane and speed dialed him. This is nuts Chris was good guy.”

The memorial service for Chris Lighty will take place at the Frank E. Campbell Funeral Chapel on Madison Avenue.

The tributes to Chris Lighty continue with rapper Fat Joe dropping a remix of Slaugterhouse’s “Goodbye,” while Cormega released the song “The Letter.”

“He was a leader, a true leader is measured by the success of those he leads and Chris led a multitude of artist, producers and DJs to success,” Cormega said of Chris Lighty.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Jay-E Further Ethers Nas Rumors! More KimYe! Epic Fails!

Jay Electronica Puts The Damn Thing Down For Nas!

MTV interviewed Jay-E at the Made In America tour and he made it very clear about the ghostwriting claims by writer Dream Hampton.

Nas is one of the gods—one of the greatest of all time [and] one of the godfathers of even my own style. I met Nas on a humble submission. Nas is one of the greatest ever. He never has or never will need a ghostwriter. He’s legendary, his pen game is unquestionable; salute to Nas. All of the other b#######, is just b#######.”

After what he’s had to say and stic.man’s explanation, there is no doubt that those ghostwriter claims are BS. And the thing is, Jay-E is on Jay-Z’s team so there’s no need to fake claims.

Kim Kardashian: Kanye Is The Love Of My Life!

Kim Kakes was on “The View” today. Really nothing came out of it, but she did say that at this stage in her life, she was looking for a “forever” scenario with Yeezy. It was pretty basic and straight up. She wants to get married and have kids

According to TMZ, Kanye and them gave a copy of a song from Cruel Summer and that resulted in them finding a line where he raps about Kim K.

“Eat breakfast at Gucci. My girl a superstar all from a home movie.”

“Home movie.” Interesting way Kanye works it out in his mind, me thinks. Whatever keeps him sane. Anyway, the name of the song is “Clique”
and its on the way.

Epic Fail Of The Day: Chad Johnson

RELATED: Sydney covered this, but I had to make it official: EPIC FAIL.

My homey OchoCinco is the fail of the day. I know that he’s f**ked up in the game…or is that out the game? But, nevertheless, he’s gone and done a the move of a super fool! He tatted the face of his ex-wiz on his leg!!!!!!! He tweeted the following yesterday. Honestly, I didn’t write about it then because I thought it was photoshopped or tatted before the headbutt that got him an assault charge.

DAYUM HOMEY!

Daily Word: Love Yourself First!!

Happy Wins-day, my Extraordinary Beings!

Welcome to the day that you begin to take credit for who you really are! Marianne Williamson said it the best… “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not
to be? Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.”

As you set out on your journey, remember this saying! Take heed to it, and realize how extremely important it is to have confidence in self and let your light shine! Not only is it your right, but it is your absolute duty and obligation! Happiness will always start with you! It is impossible to truly love someone else if you don’t love yourself first! It is impossible to get the success you deserve if you don’t believe you deserve it! Love Yourself First! You deserve it more than anyone else on this planet!

“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will spend its whole life believing that it is stupid.” -Albert Einstein

“Most of the shadows of this life are caused by standing in one’s own sunshine.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson

“The most important opinion you have is the one you have of yourself, and the most significant things you say all day are those things you say to yourself.” -Unknown

“A diamond doesn’t start out polished and shining. It once was nothing special, but with enough pressure and time, becomes spectacular. Be that diamond.” -Solange nicole

“Having a low opinion of yourself is not ‘modesty.’ It’s self-destruction. Holding your uniqueness in high regard is not ‘egotism.’ It’s a necessary precondition to happiness and success.” -Bobbe Sommer

“Believe in your dreams and they may come true; believe in yourself and they will come true.” -Unknown

“Don’t you dare, for one more second, surround yourself with people who are not aware of the greatness that you are.” -Jo Blackwell-Preston
