Mobb Deep To Debut New Music During “Black Cocaine” Release Party

(AllHipHop News) Veteran hip-hop duo Mobb Deep will celebrate the release of their new EP Black Cocaine with a star-studded release party in New York next week.

The group will perform new material from Black Cocaine at B.B. Kings in Times Square, on November 22 during the party, which will feature Mister Cee on the turntables.

Mobb Deep will also debut new, previously unheard material from their upcoming album, which is due in 2012.

The performance marks the first time in over five years that Mobb Deep has performed new material together.

The group was sidelined from January of 2008 until March of 2011, as Prodigy finished a three-year federal prison sentence for weapons possession.

“For the first time in five years, we are going to hit the stage with some new music. We never performed tracks from the new EP Black Cocaine before” Prodigy told AllHipHop.com. “New York is home, this is our foundation. There’s no better place to present our new live show.”

Mobb Deep has teamed with AllHipHop.com to stream the Black Cocaine release party so fans around the world who cannot attend the event in New York, can still enjoy the show.

“It’s always great to perform in New York” added Havoc. “Presenting new music in New York makes it even more of a special event for us.”

AllHipHop.com’s Mobb Deep release party for Black Cocaine, which will also feature several surprise performances, takes place on November 22 at B.B. King’s.

Doors open at 9:00pm.

Black Cocaine is in stores November 21 via Mobb Deep’s label Infamous Records.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Rick Ross To Sign Trina? Drake Got Beef?

RICK ROSS SIGNS TRINA?

I am not sure where Trina is right now in the music game. I believe that she is struggling a bit, to get some traction. BUT, on the flip slide, I heard she is getting a lot of help from a friend – Rick Ross. In a recent interview, I understand that Trina explained that the BAWSE is helping her on her new album. I find that pretty cool. Why? Trina kind of put Ross on. Do you remember this video?

So, the person that told me this info continued on and told me that The Baddest Chick, Trina, is also in the earliest stages of signing to Ross’ budding MMG. I honestly wonder if this is a good move or a not. I know Trina has a good skill set on the mic, but I wonder if she’s not a part of the Lil Kim / Foxy era? What do I know? Nothing. Good luck!

DRAKE GOT BEEF?

I heard something minor about Drake. But somebody told me that some folks are looking to “press” Drake in the “streets.” Apparently some lyrics were taken as subliminal disses to certain individuals. I hope not. We know Drake isn’t about that, even though he can talk a bit tough on the mic. We’ll see. (By the way, this has nothing to do with Ludacris.)

“Yo! MTV Raps” Returning For One-Night Special on MTV2

(AllHipHop News)On Sunday, December 4th at midnight, MTV2 will be airing a 30-minute special called “Yo! MTV Raps Classic Cuts,” following the airing of the channel’s Sucker Free Awards show.

The retrospective episode will feature hosts Ed Lover, Dr. Dre, and Fab 5 Freddy, as well as artists like Ice Cube, Busta Rhymes, The Roots’ ?uestlove, Wiz Khalifa, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, Fat Joe and DJ Premier, who will be remixing the show’s theme song.

When asked about the new special, former host Fab 5 Freddy said the show will take viewers back to a bygone era in hip-hop.

“In this Classic Cuts special, people will go back to a seminal time in hip-hop which many have called the ‘Golden Era’ – resulting in records that are as meaningful today as they were back then,” Fab 5 Freddy said. “In order to appreciate how far hip-hop has come, you have to pay respect to the songs and artists that helped catapult the genre from a small community of fans to world domination.”

Ed Lover, one of “Yo! MTV Raps'” other hosts, couldn’t be happier with the announcement.

“It’s a great moment to be re-connected with Yo! and examine the music that had a role in introducing hip-hop to music lovers globally,” Ed Lover said.

Yo! MTV Raps has often been credited as one of the sole mainstream influences that introduced Hip-Hop on a national level to households, through television.

The show, which aired on MTV between 1988 and 1995, introduced artists and acts like N.W.A., Wu-Tang Clan, Public Enemy, Ice-T, and more to viewers and potential music consumers across the country.
