The Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival (BHF) began in 2005, and has since grown to become one of the largest musical events in New York City. In past years over 20,000 people attended the outdoor concert that takes place under the iconic Brooklyn Bridge.

Besides Hip-Hop performances, BHF also offers numerous other activities like panel discussions, film screenings, and exhibitions.

Previous headliners of BHF have been some of the biggest names in Hip-Hop history. Big Daddy Kane, Lupe Fiasco, Ghostface Killah, KRS-ONE, and De La Soul have all graced the BK stage in past years.

One of the most memorable performances came in 2011 when headliner Q-Tip of A Tribe Called Quest brought out a host of his peers during his set. Kanye West, Black Thought, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, Monie Love, and Busta Rhymes all made appearances at what came to be known as “Q-Tip and Friends.”

A year later Busta may have started a new tradition by returning the favor. The Flip Squad emcee had Q-Tip and his Tribe brethren Phife Dawg reunite during his show. The “Busta & Friends” set also featured Slick Rick, Smif-n-Wessun, Buckshot, and the unification of The Leaders of the New School.

The Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival will take place Monday, July 8th – Saturday, July 13th. Tickets for BHF can be purchased at eventbrite.com.
