50 Cent Explains Why He Feels Beck Deserved To Win The Grammy Over Beyonce (VIDEO)

FIDDY IS STILL NOT TOO HIGH ON THE GRAMMYS IN GENERAL

(AllHipHop News) 50 Cent has a different opinion than his former commercial rival Kanye West about Beck’s Grammy win over Beyoncé. Kanye declared Beyoncé was essentially robbed of the “Album Of The Year” award win the Academy voted to honor Beck’s Morning Phase. In contrast, 50 believes the right person took home the trophy.

“[Beck] produced the record, wrote the record. It’s eleven producers on Beyoncé’s album,” 50 told People. “Kanye, being a producer and a writer, should see that. But we get jaded.”

The Queens rapper may have explained his reasoning for why Beck deserved the award, but he was not offering praise to the Grammys overall. 50 stated people probably do not care about “those establishments” anymore and pointed out how he lost the 2004 “Best New Artist” award to rock band Evanescence.

“I felt that I deserved ‘Best New Artist’ for my first album [Get Rich Or Die Tryin ’],” he added. “It’s the largest debut in rap with 13 million records sold, and when’s the last time you’ve seen Evanescence? Crickets, crickets. It’s just the way it is.”

Best New Artist has been one of the most controversial categories throughout the award show’s history. Other questionable Best New Artist wins include Marc Cohn over Boyz II Men (1992), Paula Cole over Erykah Badu (1998), Shelby Lynne over Jill Scott (2001), Bon Iver over J. Cole (2012), and Milli Vanilli winning in 1990.
