(AllHipHop News) Creepshow, the 1982 anthology film written by Stephen King and directed by George A. Romero, is back in a new form. The Shudder streaming service will begin airing the rebooted Creepshow series on September 26 at 9 pm ET/6 pm PT.
Hip Hop artists Big Boi and Kid Cudi will appear on the program. David Arquette, Giancarlo Esposito, DJ Qualls, Adrienne Barbeau, Tobin Bell, Bruce Davison, Dana Gould, and Tricia Helfer are also attached to the six-episode series.
“Some stories are funny, some scary, some suspenseful,” said executive producer Greg Nicotero (The Walking Dead). “You get a different experience with each.”
Nicotero, John Harrison, Tom Savini, Dave Bruckner, Roxanne Benjamin, John Harrison, and Rob Schrab directed individual segments for the first season. Creepshow is produced by the Cartel with Monster Agency Productions, Taurus Entertainment, and Striker Entertainment.
1982’s Creepshow was well-received by critics at the time it hit theaters. It grossed $21 million (approximately $55 million in 2018 dollars) at the domestic box office and eventually earned cult horror classic status. Two sequels were made in 1987 and 2006, respectively.
“I wanna embrace the spirit of the original movie. I always felt that Creepshow was way ahead of its time in terms of what George was doing,” stated Nicotero.
