(AllHipHop News) Two years ago reports began circulating that actor-rapper Donald Glover was set to produce and star in a new FX series titled Atlanta. According to Entertainment Weekly, the cable channel has officially picked up 10 episodes of the Hip Hop themed sitcom.

“Atlanta draws on Donald’s considerable talents as a musician, actor and writer to give us something unique,” stated FX President of Original Programming Nick Grad. “The story is made all the more powerful by the great cast and the contributions of Donald’s fellow executive producer Paul Simms and director Hiro Murai.”
The half-hour comedy series will also feature Brian Tyree Henry (Boardwalk Empire), Keith Stanfield (Straight Outta Compton), and Zazie Beetz (Applesauce). Atlanta is scheduled to debut in 2016.
Besides performing as a Hip Hop artist under the name Childish Gambino, Glover previously starred on NBC’s Community. The Stone Mountain, Georgia native has also appeared on Girls and Ultimate Spider-Man. His film resumé includes Magic Mike XXL and The Martian.
