The
Hip-Hop
musical, Echo Park wastrashed by The New York Post on Tuesday June 5th. The musical,
tracks the early years of Hip-Hop played by Derrik Keyes. The
gist of the musical, which the New York Post labeled "Badly
written and convoluted" was that in the early days, it wasn’t
about money or fame, it was a way of living. The two-hour show
featured Emcee’s, DJ’s and Breakdancers, and starred Kurtis Blow
and Grandmaster Caz. The only positive note the post had to say
about the production, which was written by Kelly Scott and Sean
Couch, was in the Breakdancing, calling the footwork "consistently
excellent, and the only thing that keeps you from fleeing the
theater." The show is playing at the famous Apollo Theater
in Harlem New York.
