(AllHipHop News) California emcee Fashawn returned this week with his sophomore album The Ecology. To enhance the experience of dropping his latest project, the Mass Appeal Records artist released a 16-minute documentary as well. During an interview with AllHipHop.com, Fashawn talked about his The Ecology doc.

“The documentary is simply my life through the lens of my longtime video director/videographer Punit Dhesi,” says Fashawn. “I chose to do it with him, because I don’t have a relationship with too many directors like I do with him. We’re actually from the same block, and he’s literally been there since day one.”
The “Golden State Of Mind” rapper wanted to allow his fans to get a peek behind the curtain into his life. The video shows Fashawn’s journey from the streets of Fresno to sharing his work to a global audience.
“We really just wanted to bring people in closer to my world,” Fashawn explains. “They’ve been seeing me in action, seeing what I do on the microphone. But they don’t know why I do it or the people who helped mold the person they see today.”
In his AllHipHop Q&A, Fashawn also discusses working with Nas and Exile, how he has changed as an artist since his debut album Boy Meets World, and music serving as his medicine. Read the full interview here.
