Hitman Sammy Sam recently lensed a video for
"Step Daddy," the title of his first single and major label debut.
The video for the single features comic actor
John Witherspoon and was shot on location in Sammy Sam’s hometown of Atlanta,
Georgia.
Sammy Sam, who has been to prison five times
and has stated that he has been shot over 15 times, says he has a bullet in
his hand, head, back of his head, corner of his head and his spine.
Despite the violent references in his name, the
rapper earned the moniker "The Hitman" after entering a talent show
in Atlanta in 1988. After penning a song titled "The Hitman" and winning
first place, "The Hitman" moniker stuck.
Now in 2003, his single "Step Daddy"
was the second most added records to radio throughout the country. Hitman Sammy
Sam established a strong grass roots presence via independent releases on Big
Oomp Records, before inking his major label deal with Universal last month.
Sammy Sam’s Step Daddy album features
local Atlanta talent. Ms. Flawless, Kizzy Rock, Nature Boy, and other Georgia
natives make appearances on the album, which hits stores April 29th.
