(AllHipHopNews) Jay-Z’s Roc Nation label will be adding a new Latin division to it’s ranks according to Billboard.
The new branch of the powerhouse label will be run by Latino star Romeo Santos, who serves as the CEO.
Santos’ longtime manager Johnny Marines has been named as president of the new organization.
Santos will also be managed by Roc Nation with Marines continuing to act as his co-manager.
Santos was very thankful for the new opportunity with the Hip-Hop mogul.
“They have a certain reach that I clearly could benefit from,” Romeo Santos said. “And dealing with Jay Z, who is an artist himself, that’s great. I’ve always idolized Jay. We both come from the ‘hood, and he gets it.”
The new Latin division will focus on developing Latin artists globally, which would expand Roc Nation’s interest in a market that the brand has showed interest in for some time now.
“This is a tremendous step for Roc Nation. We recognize there is a huge Latin market that is part of global culture,” Jay Z told Billboard. “We’re proud and ready to enter into true partnership with an individual that intimately lives and knows that culture.”
Romeo Santos made his way to super stardom by singing an Bachata, a music genre indigenous to the Dominican Republic.
Romeo Santos was also named Billboard’s Top Latin Artist in 2014 and 2015.
