Terius "Juvenile" Gray, 28, turned

himself in to New Orleans police Tuesday (September 17th) due to an incident

in May in which he is accused of simple battery and simple burglary in connection

with the beating and robbery of his barber.

According to police, the two men argued May 29

at a grocery store in New Orleans. Juvenile allegedly punched 27-year-old Bert

Williams and two of Juvenile’s associates took $200 out of Williams pockets.

"The argument was apparently over the barber

infringing on his copyrighted music or, as he said, accused him of bootlegging

his music," New Orleans Police Department spokesman Sgt. Paul Accardo told

local WDSU NewsChannel 6. Williams said that Gray accused him of bootlegging

the latest Juvenile CD before it was released.

"It’s usually not something we see everyday

when someone is accused of infringing on copyright laws," Accardo continued.

"Our main focus is to concentrate on the criminal offense that occurred,

because after the victim was attacked, money was stolen — and that constitutes

a robbery."

In a separate incident, Juvenile is also facing

a charge of issuing worthless checks. The alleged offense was investigated by

the Economic Crime Unit of the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office.
