Blackberry Entertainment will pay homage

to some of the biggest pioneers in Hip-Hop history, with The Fresh Fest 2005

concert.

Fresh Fest was initially created in 1984 and was one of the biggest and most

successful Hip-Hop tours. The original tour line up featured Run-DMC, Kurtis

Blow, Newcleus, The Fat Boys and Whodini and according to reps, grossed more

than $3.5 million in sales for only a 27 date tour.

Acts that are slated to perform are Slick Rick, Doug E. Fresh, Sugar Hill Gang,

Chubb Rock, Nice & Smooth, Biz Markie, Whodini, Dana Dane as well as Brucie

B, S&S DJ Cynnamixx and DJ Scratch.

"We are here

to give everyone a taste of what real Hip-Hop is," Shawn Pen told AllHipHop.com.

"No one can take away what these guys have done for the Hip-Hop game and

what they continue to do. These artists are the only ones I know that don’t

have to make a record to sell out concerts."

The Fresh Fest 2005 tour hopes to be just as successful as the first.

"Once we are

done with the first date, we are looking at doing a 50 city tour that will include

even more old school acts." Shawn continued. "I really feel that this

is something that anyone, but especially the 30 and older [crowd] can appreciate.

There is finally a concert that caters to the Hip-Hop generation who was there

when it all began."

The event will be hosted by Ed Lover and Monie Love and will be held on August

12th at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City.

"I chose New York to start the tour for obvious reasons," Shawn said.

"New York is the birth place of Hip-Hop, so it’s only right that we set

off a legendary moment with the pioneers in the place where it all began."
