Ma$e is making up for all the birthday gifts Cam’ron missed out on during their two-decades-long rift.
The duo mended their differences and reunited to launch their online sports talk show, It Is What It Is, last year. On the latest episode, Ma$e had a special surprise for his co-host.
“I didn’t really do nothing this year,” Cam’ron said of his birthday celebrations. “But just being here every day is a celebration for me man, so I appreciate that. Thank you man.”
However, Ma$e wasn’t going to let the occasion pass without giving his longtime friend a gift. “But here go 20 racks,” he said before handing Cam two envelopes stuffed with cash.
“For the 20 years I ain’t see you,” Ma$e added as Cam’ron stood up for an embrace. “Thank you so much bro,” Cam’ron said. “All I’m going to do is buy you something. I would just take the 20 and buy you something.”
Cam’Ron and Ma$e have been through some rocky times over the past 20 years. In 2004, they had a fiery exchange on Hot 97 and later traded diss tracks in 2017.
Last year, the Dipset member accepted responsibility for their falling out, claiming he didn’t understand his “Horse & Carriage” collaborator’s religious journey. He opened up about their falling out during an appearance on Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson’s All the Smoke podcast.
“He went to church. I kinda didn’t understand it at the time because that’s my man all day and I’m like, where church come from?” he started. “So I started bugging out on him because of that. So to be honest with you, the whole s### was my fault and just not understanding the kind of path he was on at the time.”
