Ferguson Has A Day Full Of Moral Monday Protests

PROTESTERS GATHERED ALL OVER FERGUSON IN HONOR OF MIKE BROWN

The rain couldn’t stop Ferguson demonstrators yesterday (Oct.13) as they participated in a day full of flash mob like protests throughout the city of St. Louis. As a part of “Moral Monday,” St. Louis Dispatch reports that about 500 people had gathered outside of the police station from 11:00 a.m until 2:00 p.m. Out of the those 500, more than 50 people were hauled off to jail and charged with peace disturbance. Among the people arrested was author and activist Cornel West, who has since been released.

A separate group of six protesters were arrested and booked on refusal to disperse after blocking traffic by holding up a sign. Later that evening, seven of 75 protesters were arrested after crashing a fundraiser for County Councilman and Democratic candidate Steve Stenger. Demonstrators also gathered outside of Walmart, St. Louis City Hall, the St. Louis Rams football game and other locations in the city.

“Moral Monday” was planned by the organizers of #FergusonOctober, a four-day-weekend of protests in honor of 18-year-old Mike Brown who was shot and killed by officer Darren Wilson on Aug.9th.
