(AllHipHop News) Yet another album from the early 2000s is being repackaged as a special deluxe edition. N*E*R*D’s groundbreaking debut, In Search Of…, is set to be released as a 4LP vinyl on October 25 via Virgin/Urban Legends/UMe.
The new In Search Of… is set to present the album’s “rock version” in one 2LP gatefold jacket and its European “electronic version” in another 2LP gatefold jacket. A 24-page booklet, displayed in a rigid slipcase, is also part of the bundle.
On October 25, an expanded deluxe digital edition of the “electronic version” will be released as well. The digital presentation adds seven rare and previously unissued remixes and live tracks to the album. Three of those records have never been commercially released in the United States in any format.
In Search of… was first released in Europe on August 6, 2001. On March 12, 2002, N*E*R*D released a global version of the project with instrumentals played by funk-rock band Spymob.
Pharrell Williams, Chad Hugo, and Shay Haley’s Gold-certified body of work is home to the singles “Lapdance,” “Provider,” and “Rock Star.” In Search of… was followed by the N*E*R*D albums Fly or Die (2004), Seeing Sounds (2008), Nothing (2010), and No One Ever Really Dies (2017).
