Popular mega-church televangelist Creflo Dollar announced today (February 20) the signing of a new artist to his gospel-based Arrow Records.
Founded in 1998, Dollar’s Arrow Records state their goal is “to restore gospel music back to its original purpose, to usher in the power and presence of God” by utilizing not just gospel, but the “rhythm and beat of Hip-Hop, jazz, praise and worship, pop, urban, instrumental, inspirational, contemporary and traditional black gospel, and alternative sounds.”
The new artist, professionally known as Shonlock (Deshon Bullock), is a veteran of both secular and gospel music.
As a rapper, choreographer, and instrumentalist, Shonlock has previously worked with the late Aaliyah, Trinitee 5:7, Arrested Development, Kierra “Kiki” Sheard, Grits, and TobyMac.
According to Arrow Records, Shonlock’s forthcoming LP will be a building block is raising spiritual consciousness to Hip-Hop’s forefront, and a “celebration of the awesome power and gifts trusting in God delivers.”
The currently untitled project will feature appearances from Trinitee 5:7 and Katinas, and production from Grammy-nominated producers Ric “Form” Robbins and David “Da Monsta” Lynch.
Since establishing his Word of Faith ministry with 8 people back in 1986, Creflo Dollar has grown into an internationally known advocate of utilizing Christianity for both spiritual and financial success.
Based in College Park, Georiga, his World Changers Church International (WCCI) has over 30,000 members.
Additionally, Dollar helms the international magazine CHANGE and the ministry newsletter The Max.
At press time, Shonlock’s new album is tentatively set for release this year.
