Pusha T Talks Hillary Clinton, Prison Reform & Felons Regaining Voting Rights (VIDEO)

“IT’S LIKE YOU KEEP PAYING FOREVER”

(AllHipHop News) Pusha T has been very active during this election season.

The president of G.O.O.D. Music has expressed his support Hillary Clinton for President of the United States.

Push also interviewed Clinton’s vice presidential running mate Tim Kaine.

The former Secretary of State and First Lady presented a contest for people to get the chance to meet Pusha T by registering to vote as well.

Clinton’s candidacy and the topic of voting came up during Push’s interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Colbert asked the Virginia rhymer whether he believes Hillary will continue President Barack Obama’s reform of the federal prison system.

“I definitely believe she’ll carry on that legacy,” responded Pusha. “That’s the most important issue to me simply because I feel like that’s the most important issue tearing apart our community right now.

Many criminal justice reform activists have cited state-mandated laws preventing felons from having voting rights as an unfair form of disenfranchisement affecting communities of color.

In most states, convicted felons regain their right to vote at the completion of serving time, parole, or probation.

However, in some states, convicted felons can only earn back their right to vote through court action or gubernatorial pardons, even after completion of their sentence.

“You can’t vote. You can’t get grants. It’s like you keep paying forever,” stated Pusha T. “We have to change that.”
