After making a name for himself with the debut single “Get Silly,” rookie rapper V.I.C. is set to release his debut album Beast on August 26.
Born to a New York mother and an immigrant Ghana father, V.I.C. began making music when he was ten years old.
With a diverse family tree, V.I.C. promises his album will be a testament to the strength he witnessed in his father’s struggle to make a name in America.
“Most immigrants come to this country with unbeatable determination,” V.I.C. explained to AllHipHop.com. “This is my way of showing my perseverance and tenacity; this is my Beast!”
“Get Silly” obtained a peak chart position of number five on Billboard’s Hot Rap Tracks and number thirteen on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
Due to the first single’s popularity, V.I.C.’s debut was pushed up from a January 2009 release to capitalize of the momentum.
Beast features appearances from E-40, Jermaine Dupri, Polow da Don, Bun B, Hurricane Chris and Soulja Boy.
The Mr. Collipark produced second single “Wobble” was released digitally on July 15th. The song has now been added to playlists for MTV, BET, MTV Jams and MTV2.
The third single is the Hurricane Chris assisted “We Ridin,” which celebrates cars with customized Lamborghini doors.
Also included are “By Faith,” a song inspired by V.I.C.’s faith in God, and “Bop, Bop, Bop,” which utilizes the sounds and rhythms made popular by many Southern college bands.
Beast is scheduled for release on August 26 through Warner Bros. and Collipark Records.
