Selena Gomez confessed her earliest celebrity crush was none other than Ice Cube during a lighthearted moment on Complex’s GOAT Talk with Karol G, steering the conversation away from rap legends to childhood infatuations.
“But can I tell you my first one that I had a crush on? Ice Cube,” Gomez said when asked to name her greatest rapper of all time.
“I had the biggest crush on him. I was, like, five. It’s so weird, but I just thought he would protect me,” she added. “I’m only saying it simply based on my childhood.”
The actress and singer also gave a nod to Eminem, crediting her DJ father for introducing her to his music early on, but made it clear that Ice Cube was her first crush.
Elsewhere in the interview, Gomez crowned Destiny’s Child’s “Bills Bills Bills” as her GOAT “bad b#### anthem” and skipped over past collaborators to name Ariana Grande as the artist she’d most like to work with in the future.
She also labeled Britney Spears the GOAT pop star and shared that her first concert ever was a Britney show.
Ice Cube’s Son Has Soft Spot For Selena Gomez
While Ice Cube has not responded to Selena Gomez, his son O’Shea Jackson Jr. has had a few things to say about Gomez in the past and has been crushing over her for over a decade.
“Just saw Selena Gomez’s Pantene pro-v commercial,” he tweeted in 2015. “I don’t know bout you Selena but let’s make these babies.”
The same year, a fan joked about an Ice Cube and Taylor Swift collab after they posed together backstage during the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards.
“Long as Selena there I’m good,” he joked.
Jackson publicly praised Gomez as recently as 2023, stating “Lose you to love me by Selena Gomez. Is still F##### amazing.”

Unfortunately for Jackson, Selena Gomez is now engaged to Benny Blanco.
