T.I. has been catching all types of flack for saying he would never vote for a female president in a radio interview. Well, the Atlanta general has come forward to issue another apology through his Facebook page.
“Eh, wait a minute, this is going too far. Look in the room, there are no PR people, nobody telling me what to say, nobody has written anything down for me. OK, this is me speaking from the heart. First and foremost, I apologize to the women I know and that know me. My wife, my daughters, my cousins, my nieces, my sisters, my aunties. All of you I have seen put homes, businesses, families, on your back and do things that were unthinkable and seemingly impossible. I know you know how I joke – I apologize. I’m being told to be quiet & just let this pass…. Nah that ain’t quite ME. So,here’s my apology for my jokes that I made on DJ Whoo Kid’s radio show. My words WERE NOT meant to be taken so literally. Never saw Whoo Kids show as a social/political platform. However Apologize none the less. I never meant to be taken as though women couldn’t be leaders. That was not my intention, I know better than that, I know my daughters as well as your daughters can lead this nation as well as any other nation as long as the apply themselves. … This time, I reached for a joke that was in very poor taste, using a stereotype associated to women that I should not have done. That is not a reflection of how I feel or who I am. I merely reached for a joke using very poor judgement.”
