YFN Lucci pled guilty to a street gang charge in Georgia. Following the conclusion of that RICO case, the Atlanta native has now returned to releasing music.
“Free Me” arrived today (February 2) via TIG Records/Warner Records. The gospel-infused single is YFN Lucci’s first solo song in four years. He also has a new project coming.
Lucci presented his debut studio album, Ray Ray from Summerhill, in March 2018. In addition, his discography includes mixtapes like 2020’s Wish Me Well 3 as well as EPs like 2020’s Corona Pack.
Lucci turned himself in to the police in January 2021 after Atlanta authorities issued arrest warrants for assault, gang activity and the murder of James Adams. The recording artist born Rayshawn Bennett took a plea bargain in January of this year.
Prosecutors dropped 12 of 13 counts against Bennett, including the murder charge. A judge gave YFN Lucci a 20-year sentence with time served. He reportedly will have parole eligibility in around four months.
“I wanna say my heart goes out to my friend, James Adams, and his family. Also, I wanna apologize to my family and my friends for putting them through this stressful process,” YFN Lucci said during a court hearing. “I would also like to apologize to the court. That’s it.”
