(AllHipHop News) Last year the Universal Nation added several high-profile new members including Lil Wayne, Nas, Big Boi, Joey Bada$$, Freddie Gibbs, and Jimmy Fallon. The founder of the organization, Afrika Bambaataa, spoke with VladTV about other prominent members.
The creator of the Hip Hop classic “Planet Rock” mentioned UZN brothers and sisters like A Tribe Called Quest, Jungle Brothers, Monie Love, Queen Latifah, Ice-T, Ice Cube, and Brand Nubian. One rap legend that the public may not have known was affiliated with the Zulus is Tupac Shakur.
“[2Pac] was founded with us,” said Bambaataa. “I met him here and there. I didn’t know him to be hanging out with him.”
Pac was killed at the age of 25. A few months later the Notorious B.I.G. lost his life at 24 years old. Bambaataa expressed his belief that both of those tragic murders did not have to happen.
“That could have been avoided. When people used to be arguing over the West Coast versus the East Coast, the Universal Zulu Nation never had that problem,” added Bambaataa. “We were on the East Coast. We were on the West Coast. We were in the South. We were in the North.”

Justin Bieber may have gotten a little too close for comfort as he rubbed up on Ariana Grande at her performance last night in L.A. While the two performed “As Long As You Love Me” Bieber wrapped his arms around Grande. She quickly disentangled and tried to play it off. Big Sean apparently wasn’t feeling it, and in the latest #TweetAndDelete files he tweeted:
“This kid is about to learn not to touch my girl like that. Beliebe that.”
Hmmmm it really didn’t seem that serious, and after all they are entertainers.
(AllHipHop News) Turk, formerly of the Hot Boys, filed a lawsuit against his old label Cash Money Records. The New Orleans native dropped by The Breakfast Club to talk about his legal issues with the company founded by Bryan “Baby” Williams and Ronald “Slim” Williams. Turk also explained how he believes Baby was the main reason he and Wayne were not able to reunite in recent years.
“It was like somebody was stopping us from coming together. It was something,” said Turk. When asked what that thing was he replied, “It was Baby. I just feel like Baby stopped a lot of us. It’s just like if this is your boss [and] your boss don’t mess with him, so you don’t wanna mess it up with your boss.”
Turk has managed to join with Wayne for a series of show dates in recent weeks. He also reunited with original Hot Boys member Juvenile and former Cash Money in-house producer Mannie Fresh.
Besides both starting on the same label and in the same group, Turk and Wayne have more in common. Wayne is also suing Cash Money for unpaid royalties.
Some observers see the situation between Wayne and CMR being even more complicated because of the partnership between Baby and Young Thug. The Atlanta newcomer has even announced he is naming his album Carter Six.
Some view that move as an insult to Wayne since the delayed release of his Carter V LP is part of the conflict with Cash Money. Turk touched on Thugger’s decision to borrow the name from Weezy’s famed album series.
“I like Young Thug’s music,” Turk stated. “I think Young Thug wanna be Wayne whether directly or indirectly. He said it… I believe he looks up to Wayne.”
Turk added he thinks the media is making it seem as if Thug is being disrespectful toward Wayne, and the young rapper is playing into that narrative for attention. The BC interview also features Turk addressing his past addictions to drugs, the violent encounter with the police that led to his incarceration, and the infamous Wayne-Baby kiss.

(AllHipHop News) One of Dame Dash ‘s legal battles is now over. Dash had been claiming for years that famed filmmaker Lee Daniels owed him $2 million for projects like The Butler and Empire, and Dash sued the director to recoup the funds. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dash and Daniels filed papers dismissing the case.
The site reports:
On Tuesday, the parties filed papers dismissing the lawsuit. According to Dash’s attorney Natraj Bhushan, it was a “creative, fair” settlement that “calls for them to work together in the not-so-distant future.” Bhushan couldn’t offer any specific details given a confidentiality provision.
Dash spoke about the dispute during an interview on Sway In The Morning in March. The co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records said at the time:
I put up $2 million. He asked me to do The Woodsman, and I put the money up…
Lee Daniels came to me with a good script. Kevin Bacon was attached to it, and I had some paper at the time. He hit me with, “Black people don’t stick together.”
So I put the money up. We got our money back, but then he wanted to invest in his first directing [job with] Shadowboxer. It cost like $10 million, and I said, “Lee, I believed in the other script. This is my money to put into movies for my independence.”
He said, “I promise you’ll get your dough back.” Long story short, I didn’t get my money back. Then we made a deal where any other project he was on – until I get my money back – I would be on it. As soon as Precious hit, he just went missing on me.
Daniels supposedly promised to give Dame credits, ownership and compensation of any future work. Daniels countered by stated the contract between the two was not specific.
He added a statement on his Instagram page:
United we stand…divided is not an option…some times you have to bring the war to get to the peace…war is the last resort but sometime necessary but at the end of the day I’m not trying to fight unless I have to…as a culture we moving together it’s the only way…now let’s get to work makes no sense for us to fight over success it’s to be shared with the people that helped you get there…I walk that like I talk it….
Dash is now reportedly working on a film about poet and novelist Charles Bukowski. He recently teamed with Kanye West to release the web-based movie Loisaidas. There is currently a lawsuit from a member of a Latin musical group surrounding the title of that picture.

Karrine “Superhead” Steffans gets upset when people call her “Superhead” yet she is always sharing “Superhead” tales. Joe Budden isn’t one to hold back his opinion these days, especially not on social media. Brook Carter posted a video of Blacc Chyna saying, “Her a** is so big”. When Ludacris filed for and won full custody of the child he conceived while on a break from his relationship with his now wife, Eudoxie, no one was more stunned than the child’s mother Tamika Fuller.
Losing custody of her first child has broken her heart and now she has penned an open letter on the site MadameNoire to tell her side of the story and how it feels as a mother to lose your child.
“And having him rip my baby from me feels like an act of willful violence that reoccurs every single day that I wake up and realize that she’s not by my side,” she wrote.
Fuller says that she and Luda were longtime friends and became intimate after he broke up with Eudoxie, who he married earlier this year and is expecting his third child with. She says that things were fine until she became pregnant and he begged her to terminate her pregnancy.
“Deep down, even though I knew he never wanted the baby, I was hurt at the idea that there was a real possibility that my daughter’s father might not be part of her life. I thought that he would accept our daughter’s impending arrival and want to take part in the process, but I now know that thinking was naive.”
Fuller claims that in efforts to get her to get an abortion, Ludacris promised her lifestyle of the rich and famous but she didn’t except any of it. She says that since he was so vocal about not wanting the baby she was shocked when he filed for and won custody of their one-year-old daughter.
“Knowing that he had no desire to have a baby, imagine my surprise when he filed for physical custody of our daughter and a judge ruled in his favor. I was stunned, devastated, and overwhelmed. I asked myself over and over again, ‘How could this happen to me?’ What had I done wrong? It felt as if I were screaming into howling winds and no one could hear me say, “I’m a good mother. I love my daughter. I’m a good mother. I love my daughter.”
Fuller wrote that after her daughter was taken, Ludacris was given all the power, even controlling her social media posts related to their child.
“What kind of mother gets her child taken away from her? I only cut back on my work hours following my maternity leave to ensure that I had enough time to spend with my daughter during the first year of her life. However, it was this financial reasoning along with events that transpired 20 years ago in my teens that were the justifications used when issuing the decision. The retribution continued to roll in because apparently taking away my child wasn’t enough of a punishment. I was then denied assistance with lawyer fees and told that her father needed to authorize the pictures I posted on my personal social media page. As I apologized to my friends and family for not being able to share imagery of the evolution of my child, I scratched my head: What does Instagram censoring have to do with disparate income levels? Subsequently, I now have no child, no First Amendment rights, and I’m in debt to the tune of six figures.”

Suge Knight faced a judge yesterday (Apr. 8) regarding his robbery charge that stems from a photographer accusing him and Katt Williams of taking her camera after he accused her of trying to snap photos of his young son, Billboard reports.
Judge Coen questioned the former Death Row CEO about his plans to hire a new attorney after Matt Kenner said he did not want to represent him anymore. Knight claims he wanted to fire Kenner anyway, so Coen gave him until May 27th to find new representation.

Knight has been experiencing health issues ever since he was charged with murder in February and returned to court this time in a wheelchair, although he told Judge Coen he could walk. TMZ reports that Knight says that the Sheriff’s deputies were forcing him to attend court in a wheelchair to embarrass him and make a spectacle out of him. He’s been rushed to the hospital four times since February after being charged with murder.
The 49-year-old will be back in court on Monday (Apr. 13) for a preliminary hearing in his murder case where he was charged for running over two men, one fatally, with his SUV in Compton, CA. Prosecutors will present evidence against Knight during the hearing.
