(AllHipHop News) The reuniting of Big Boi and Andre 3000 as OutKast for a series of festival shows was one of the highlights for Hip Hop culture in 2014. The ATLiens joining forces once again not only allowed a new generation to experience classic songs like “B.O.B.”, “Ms. Jackson”, and “Hey Ya!” live, but fans also got a taste of Andre’s unique fashion style and personal ideology.
3K wore self-designed, custom jumpsuits that featured socially charged quotes such as “I pray there’s a god at the end of all this”, “across cultures, darker people suffer most. why?”, and “art of fart?” Dre even sported one that read “F#ck 3000”.
All 47 of Andre 3000’s concert outfits will be part of the Savannah College of Art and Design’s i feel ya: SCAD + André 3000 Benjamin exhibit at Art Basel Miami Beach.
“As I initially thought about displaying this collection, I immediately knew that I wanted to work with my longtime collaborative partners at SCAD,” said Dre in a press release. “The diverse group of people that come to Miami for Art Basel Miami Beach are the right audience to see this for the first time.”
SCAD’s Executive Director of Exhibitions Laurie Ann Farrell curated i feel ya. The showcase, which also includes the work of filmmaker Greg Brunkalla and painter Jimmy O’Neal, will be on view Wednesday, December 3 through Sunday, December 14 at Mana Miami.
After its premiere at Art Basel, i feel ya: SCAD + André 3000 Benjamin will be housed at the SCAD Museum of Art in Savannah, Georgia in summer 2015.
(AllHipHop News) The stories and rumors of Cash Money not paying employees, partners, and contractors has been associated with the label for years. The company’s head Bryan “Birdman” Williams has been hit with lawsuits from producers to construction liens in order to receive payments the respective parties claim they are owed. One former business associate of YMCMB was involved in a different method of expressing displeasure of not being paid by Birdman.
Rap Coalition founder Wendy Day helped broker some of the biggest distribution deals in Hip Hop history including the unprecedented $30 million deal between Cash Money Records and Universal. But when Day was not properly compensated for her efforts in helping the label, one of her friends took it upon himself to make Birdman offer an apology.
Day spoke with Nah Right about her dealings with Cash Money. During the interview she discussed how New York rapper Freddie Foxxx ran up on Birdman with a weapon.
“At one point, one of my artist friends bumped into Birdman and put a gun to his head and made him call and apologize to me, which he did,” said Day. “[Birdman] called me up and said ‘oh, your friend just pulled me out of Hot 97 and I’m here on the street, on my knees and I want to apologize to you.’ I really didn’t care about the apology. I wanted to know, why would somebody s**t on someone that changed their life for the better?”
Day later stated that Foxxx had spoken about the incident before, so she did not feel as if she was incriminating him. Plus, in her view, it had been over seven years, so the statute of limitations for a criminal investigation had passed. She also revealed that Birdman apparently told her that she would need to file a lawsuit against him in order for her to get the money she was due.
“He said to me, ‘Sue me, when I have to pay you, you’ll get paid.’ He said it very nonchalantly and very matter-of-factly, and as time wore on I saw that he didn’t pay anybody,” added Day. “He didn’t pay the t-shirt manufacturers, he didn’t pay the Fruit of Islam for security, he didn’t pay security guards for security, he didn’t pay his staff, he didn’t pay his office rent. They didn’t pay anybody.”
(AllHipHop News) It has been over three months since unarmed teenager Michael Brown was killed by Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson. Since that shooting took place on August 9th, many protesters have called for Wilson to be charged for a crime or at the very least be officially removed from the police force.
CNN reports Wilson is in talks to resign his position with the Ferguson police department. Sources told the cable network that Wilson met with city officials about turning in his badge. The sources added that Wilson is not admitting guilt in the investigation into whether he committed a criminal act by killing Brown. Apparently, he claims his pending decision is based on protecting his fellow officers.
A grand jury is currently reviewing evidence and testimony to decide if Wilson should be indicted on criminal charges. The panel is set to meet again on Friday with a public announcement possibly coming as early as Sunday. Missouri Governor Jay Nixon declared a state of emergency as a precautionary order, stating he is concerned that unrest could break out if Wilson is not charged.
Officer Wilson is currently on paid administrative leave. Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson previously said if the grand jury does not return an indictment then Wilson has the legal right to return to the force, but he would still face an internal conduct review and undergo two psychological evaluations.
(AllHipHop News) When Kanye West released his 2008 album 808s & Heartbreak many fans were thrown back a bit by the Chicago artist singing using Autotune. The album still produced big hits. One of Ye’s most successful songs from the project was the Top 10 smash “Heartless,” but according to producer No I.D. that particular track was originally set aside for another Hip Hop superstar.
“The 808 records came out of doing The Blueprint 3 records,” No I.D. revealed on the Juan Epstein show. “Matter of fact, when we did ‘Heartless,’ he just stopped and said, ‘No.’ I was like, ‘No what?’ He was like, ‘No way. This is my record.’ I was like, ‘Come on man, can we just finish the guy’s album man?’ He was like, ‘Nope. I’m doing an album.’”
According to No I.D., Kanye claimed the tracks and then went on tour leaving Jay short of several records he was expecting to have for his own album. He had to share that news with Hov.
“Jay Z is like, ‘What just happened? Where are my… what happened?” added No I.D. “I tell Jay, ‘Yo, man it’s gonna be hard to finish this man. You probably need to come to Hawaii. Just come out there. Please come out there.’”
It turned out that Jay’s BP3 would include the song “D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)” where the Brooklyn emcee called for the end of the trendy vocal technique. On the song, which was also produced by No I.D., Jay shouted out Kanye (“Ye told me to kill y’all to keep it 100”). Yeezy also makes a very short appearance on “D.O.A.” when he ad libs “That’s too far n***a” after Jay spits “Your colors too bright, your voice too light.”
(AllHipHop News) Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson are reuniting on the small screen next year. The two actors appeared together in the critically acclaimed film Hustle & Flow, and now Howard and Henson are set to lead the television drama Empire.
The Lee Daniels (Precious, The Butler) produced series will debut on Wednesday, January 7 at 9:00 pm ET/PT on the Fox network. The premiere episode will broadcast with limited commercial interruption. Empire is airing after the long-running competition show American Idol XIV.
Howard plays Lucious Lyon, a former drug dealer-turned-music mogul. Henson appears as his ex-wife, Cookie, that returns home after spending years in prison. The former couple battle over control of Lyon’s Empire Entertainment and the roles of their three sons in the company. The show also stars Gabourey Sidibe, Bryshere Gray, Jussie Smollett, and Trai Byers.
(AllHipHop News) It seems Slim Shady is back. Eminem built a career off of killing his wife, raping his mother, and dissing female music stars in his songs. The Detroit rhymer has returned to his old tricks once again.
After rapping about wanting to punch Lana Del Rey during his “Shady Cxvpher” performance, Em took a swipe at Iggy Azalea on the new Bad Meets Evil track “Vegas” from the Shady XV compilation.
So swallow my pride, you’re lucky just to follow my ride/If I let you run alongside the Humvee/Unless you’re Nicki, grab you by the wrist, let’s ski/So what’s it gonna be/Put that s### away, Iggy/You don’t wanna blow that rape whistle on me.
–
Iggy became aware of the lyrics, and the “Black Widow” performer responded to Eminem and the song on Twitter.
im bored of the old men threatening young women as entertainment trend and much more interested in the young women getting $ trend. zzzz
Both Slim Shady and Iggy have had their fair share of public feuds. Em was involved in the 50 Cent/G-Unit versus Ja Rule/Murder Inc beef back in the early 2000’s, and he had issues with The Source magazine’s Benzino. Azalea was recently engaged in a social media war with Snoop Dogg. The Australian native went back-and-forth with Azealia Banks at one point as well.
CNN journalist Don Lemon is still under fire after an interview with Joan Tarshis, one of Bill Cosby’s rape accusers, in which Lemon clumsily questioned whether the alleged victim did enough to prevent being raped and inquired why she did not “use her teeth” as a method to prevent Cosby from allegedly forcing her to perform oral sex.
Speaking to People Magazine Tarshis explained “I was kinda shocked and then a part of me thought, ‘Damn, why didn’t I think of that?’ I was just so surprised because at first because I didn’t know what he meant when he said, ‘There are other ways of dealing with this.’ … I became flustered.”
Lemon, who admits that he was sexually abused as a child, issued an apology on Wednesday stating, “As I am a victim myself I would never want to suggest that any victim could have prevented a rape. If my question to her struck anyone as insensitive, I am sorry as that is certainly and was not my intention.”
Read a portion of the original interview or watch below:
LEMON: Can I ask you this, because — and please, I don’t mean to be crude, OK?
TARSHIS: Yeah.
LEMON: Because I know some of you — and you said this last night, that he — you lied to him and said “I have an infection, and if you rape me, or if you do — if you have intercourse with me, then you will probably get it and give it to your wife.”
TARSHIS: Right.
LEMON: And you said he made you perform oral sex.
TARSHIS: Right.
LEMON: You — you know, there are ways not to perform oral sex if you didn’t want to do it.
TARSHIS: Oh. Um, I was kind of stoned at the time, and quite honestly, that didn’t even enter my mind. Now I wish it would have.
LEMON: Right. Meaning the using of the teeth, right?
Ghostface Killah continues to leak tracks off his upcoming album “36 Seasons“, which drops December 9th. Today he gets help from AZ on a single called “Double Cross“.
Kirko Bangz teams up with Migos for his new single “Got It On Me“. The video has already been shot and should be dropping in the next few days. New projects on the way.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 hits theaters this weekend and is likely to be the box office’s biggest seller as the official trailer has over 17 million views online already. But how will Mockingjay Part 1 stack up against the other movies in the series? How will audiences receive the movie compared to the book? So far the soundtrack has been one of the hottest albums online for weeks as artists seemed to clamor for the opportunity to be on the soundtrack.
It should be noted that this soundtrack for the movie has been just as widely reviewed as the movie itself. The soundtrack has a heavy hitting lineup featuring Kanye West, Lorde, Pusha T, Q-Tip, HAIM, Major Lazer, Ariana Grande, Raury, Tinashe, Miguel and many more.
Let’s get it right, this movie will be a smash hit this holiday season further asserting Jennifer Lawrence’s abilities as a dynamic actress capable of tackling a range of emotions and moods. But, Mockingjay also gives other characters like, Elizabeth Banks (Effie), Jeffrey Wright (Beete) and the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman time to shine as well. While Woody Harrelson and Donald Sutherland also play noticeable roles adding texture to an already dynamic cast.
As a whole this is a great movie almost simply for the plot, that should empower viewers to voice their opinion and take part in the role of the government and their organizations. This movie really shows how far a dictator or leader could go in a fictitious world, or real world to control the power. Its amazing what one person can do when they control all the power and subjects the citizens to their rule by fear.
Katniss is in a game of chess with President Rose and this movie gives you a front and center view of the civil war that is taking place in the movie. There are a lot of parallels that you can draw to real life civil war and the tactics that villainous leaders choose to implement by controlling with fear and weaponry.
Similar to in the movie, younger viewers will likely want to go out and get a bow and arrow to start their own revolution – it is inspiring if you believe in that sort of thing. Its got suspense, love, triumph, tragedy and action for the older crowd, but it also has a lot of “I’m going crazy” moments as Jennifer Lawrence’s character is recovering from the shock of the second Hunger Games and the love lost with Peeta who is in captivity at the Capitol.
It builds on the previous movies nicely making it a solid bridge to the next movie, Part 2, which is currently in post production and due out next November. All audiences will find the battle of good and evil captivating as you find yourself despising white roses and the very establishment that is the Capitol and President Rose, similar to the white armored republic commando army in Star Wars.
While this movie does tackle ethical issues and the common battle between good and evil often found in movies like Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Twilight and Avatar, there are some cheesy moments in the movie, like when Prim goes back to get her cat amidst a bombing? C’mon son… BUT, the film is clearly designed for a wide range of audiences, so its to be expected that there will be moments tailored for younger audiences. Remember its PG-13 so basically 8 year olds will probably get to see this, so I’m not totally mad they decided to tone it down a bit in some scenes.
Check the trailer and listen to some of the soundtrack below, Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 1 hits theaters Friday (Nov. 21st). Def go out to see it and comment below! Let the odds be with you!
Here is something most people don’t know, including the music industry. We keep more secrets than we ever reveal over here at AllHipHop. So, this situation with the Suge Knight shooting earlier this year had everybody perplexed and there were definitely some theories floating around. Well, the crazy thing is, Suge know’s who shot him and it has been a feud that has carried on for years in the background over money, our sources tell us. I cannot say much else other than the streets are still heavily in the music industry even if the money has dried up. But, more importantly, these people that got him shot are actually cool people, which makes it all the more scary. I mean, Suge is scary and he’s carrying on like there’s no such thing as revenge. I’m out!

(AllHipHop News) Producer Drumma Boyburst on the music scene by crafting tracks for rap stars like Gucci Mane, 2 Chainz, Waka Flocka, Juicy J, Rick Ross, T.I., and many others. But it was a recent song Drumma made with Jeezy that has a Wisconsin rapper named Big Chris crying foul.
Chris reportedly filed a lawsuit against Jeezy claiming the Atlanta native’s Seen It All: The Autobiography cut “Me OK” was a rip off of his own song “13 shots.”
Drumma was the man behind the boards for “Me Ok,” and the Drum Squad leader wants the public to know he did not steal anything. Drumma connected with DJ Smallz Eyes to talk about his own copycat producers as well as accusations he has bitten beats.
“The fraudulent accounts are always pointed out at some point in fashion. So you can be with the fraud s**t. You can imitate, you can copy styles, and claim that you make these motherf**king beats that you know you didn’t make because I made,” said Drumma. “All these different claims and disputes and s**t, bring that s**t on. You know who f**king made what. If we ever go to court, you’ll see what the f**king results are.”
(AllHipHop News) After gaining attention from Hip Hop fans with the mixtapes 1999 and Summer Knights, Joey Bada$$ is ready to share his debut studio album with the world. Joey revealed the release date for B4.DA.$$ in a trailer for the project uploaded to YouTube.
The video ends with the words “B4.DA.$$ 1.20.15” on the screen. The Pro Era member also added a message with the visuals. Joey wrote:
P.eace young world this is the Badmon Jozif and I just want to thank all of my supporters and fans for being so patient with me as I finished my first album. The wait is finally almost over and the release date is locked and loaded. After discovering my birthday falls on a Tuesday (the day of the week all albums drop) next year I decided to save the album drop for then (1.20.15). I thought it was the best time to cause a shift. It’s always been a goal of mine to drop a project on my birthday and the premonition has finally come into fruition. The number 120 is very unique and symbolic to me as well. My 1st album on my 20th birthday this was destiny.” – B4.DA.$$ P.eace!
Joey worked extensively with Statik Selektah for the album, and the producer spoke with AllHipHop.com in August about his contribution to the Brooklyn emcee’s project. Statik also talked about the connection between his recent album What Goes Around, Joey’s B4.DA.$$, and Action Bronson’s forthcoming Mr. Wonderful.
“I’m very involved in [Joey Bada$$’] album. He’s on my projects. He’s like my little brother,” said Statik. “I mixed a lot of it too. I brought him ideas. I’m very, very involved with his album.”
He added, “I think when people hear his album they’re going to hear my influence on it. When you hear Action Bronson’s album – those three points are going to connect, and people are going to see it.”

(AllHipHop News) The reality show battle between former best friends Stevie J and Benzino apparently got so bad that VH1 had to fire Zino from Love & Hip Hop Atlanta. At least that is the story Stevie J told TMZ. The music producer claims the network had to let Benzino go because he threatened to harm Stevie, co-star Joseline Hernandez, producers, and staffers.
“He said flat out he was going to kill us,” Stevie told the website.
It was announced that Benzino and his fiancee’ Althea Eaton were issued pink slips last month. The co-founder of The Source stated at the time he felt the show’s production team was merely taking the side of Stevie and Joseline. Benzino doubled down on that speculation with TMZ.
“Stevie J is a habitual liar and VH1 has never given me a reason for being fired,” Benzino stated. “They wanted to keep the crackhead w####.”
Both couples were involved in huge a melee during the taping of the reunion show earlier this year. The fight was partially sparked because Benzino and Althea made references to Stevie and Joseline being on drugs. Their ongoing feud was a main storyline during season three of the series.
Here is the first leak Freestylin Under Oath from the Slaughterhouse emcee KXNG CROOKED’s (formerly Crooked I) upcoming mixtape experience titled “Sex, Money and Hip-Hop” that is being released through SMH Records on December 16th.
