AHH Album Review – Jeezy: Seen It All: The Autobiography

Wow, it’s been a while since the last time we’ve heard something from Young Jeezy. The Atlanta rapper may have released a couple of mixtapes in the past years, including the popular Its Tha World series. However, Jeezy’s last album, TM103: Hustlerz Ambition was released three years ago and it didn’t receive as much praise as his past projects. Also, time has truly shown the changes for Jeezy and his ventures. Not only has the rapper became an endorser for Avion Tequila, and he’s also cut ties with former CTE associate Freddie Gibbs, which has leading to several diss songs, lies, and plain hate between the two rappers. These are just a few of the plethora of changes that Young Jeezy has experienced over his three year album hiatus, and his newest album Seen It All: The Biography shows that he has changed with the times, but the sound still remain to be as original as his most acclaimed projects.

If you’ve listened to Young Jeezy’s past projects, you know that his beats has to be as gritty as the hood s### he talks about, and the same formula fits Seen It All. The production crew behind the project features a mixture of producers, from his older albums to the newer faces in the game. Drumma Boy and Don Cannon are producers who has worked with Jeezy for the early Thug Motivation series, while  Childish Major and Cardo are newer faces. The beats in Seen it All may be from numerous producers with different sounds, yet they all fit in with Jeezy’s style. “Beautiful”, a song featuring Rick Ross and The Game, includes a a Cortex-sampled beat produced by Black Metaphor. Jeezy adds his aggressive raps to the smooth beat to create a perfect balance. The production was a standout factor of Seen It All, the explosive track “1/4 Block”  to start out the album in an aggressive way.

Young Jeezy’s lyrics game was solid in Seen It All, but this is where the album starts to show some of its flaws.  Jeezy winds up talking about the same thing throughout the album. If it isn’t about the materials he have, like in “Beautiful” or “Me Ok”, he’s talking about life in the trap or bad chicks. This is not bad, it’s the flashy-yet gutter raps that we have been used to (ad-libs included). However, a lot of the songs don’t stick to you as much as previous projects. “Holy Ghost” does switch the vibe up in regards to what Jeezy is rapping. The song sounds like a response to all of the negative attention he’s been getting from Freddie Gibb. But, just like Jeezy’s seen it all, we’ve heard it all.

The flow of Seen It All is very familiar to more of Jeezy’s mix tapes. He doesn’t have much of a concept to his latest album, just  a set track list, with a good number of songs that will stand keep it in replay. His featured artists include A1 artists, like Jay Z, Future, Rick Ross, and The Game. Jeezy also brings in Akon for “Been Getting Money”, another artist who worked him in the Thug Motivation series.

Seen It All: The Autobiography is a project that hits hard without much of a though process needed. Jeezy’s aggressive beats, trap rhymes, and signature ad-libs creates a sound that shows his progress album wise, but still has the play through like a mixtape. However, there are still some good songs worth checking out.

EXCLUSIVE: Miami's Denzel Curry Responds To Trick Daddy’s Comments + Reveals Upcoming Double EP

(AllHipHop News) Denzel Curry was one of the rising rappers highlighted in the recent documentary The Field: Miami. The 53-minute film featured numerous South Florida artists sharing their thoughts about the “real Miami” and its Hip Hop scene.

But it was one of Curry’s statements about his hometown’s support for its own that garnered a reply from the self-proclaimed “Mayor of Dade County” Trick Daddy.

“They don’t f**k with us like that,” said Curry in The Field about some of MIA’s rapping old heads. “Certain people that I can say that f**k with us, but at the same time we don’t ask them for s**t.”

In an interview with AllHipHop.com, Trick Daddy expressed, as a Miami rap veteran, he does not feel obligated to back every up-and-coming rapper from the city. The Thugs Are Us album creator said, “When you say, ‘support the rap artists,’ everybody that wants to be a rapper, I’m supposed to support it? Even if I feel like he can’t rap? What if I feel like his songs are wack? Even if I feel like his jeans are too tight?”

Curry got wind of Trick’s response and wanted to set the record straight on exactly what he was attempting to get across during his segment in The Field. The 19-year-old Carol City native claims his intent was not to disrespect his musical predecessors.

“I wasn’t trying to offend nobody. I just basically told it how it was on my end. The people I grew up with, the people in our generation, we pretty much ended up doing stuff ourselves. Some had help from the OGs like Trick Daddy was helping out [Ice ‘Billion’] Berg, but when we grew older we didn’t have that same support. The only people who were supporting were the people in the underground with us,” explains Curry. “I understand where Trick is coming from saying he can’t support all rappers that are in the South Florida area, because if he don’t like something he’s not going to support. But at least acknowledge it. Let them know that you’re watching.”

In a very short amount of time, Curry was able to grind his way to considerable attention online. He released several mixtapes and the well received 2013 album Nostalgic 64.

According to the former Raider Klan associate, his early success was the result of he and his L&E x C9 ‎brethren making waves off their own merits. He further clarifies that was the only point he was attempting to make in the movie.

“I understand how the support system is. I just basically felt like, ‘Yo, we did it ourselves. We didn’t have to go to the OGs.’ I’m not saying it was their fault or our fault. It’s just we did it on our own. We didn’t ask them for help,” says Curry. “I didn’t mean no type of malice. I was just expressing how I was feeling. [The filmmakers] were asking questions about South Florida, and I just told them what was up. The fact that [Trick Daddy] acknowledged now is cool. It shows they’re watching us.”

Up next for Curry are music videos for “Ice Age” and “Zone 3” as well as the C9 compilation mixtape. He is also working on the double EP 32ZEL/Planet Shrooms. Those deeply personal projects are being created in the memory of his brother Treon who was killed in February of this year while in police custody and his close friend Tiarra who was gunned down last year.

“One half sounds like it’s for the masses. The other half is for the underground. 32ZEL is dedicated to my brother, and Planet Shrooms is dedicated to Tiarra,” says Curry. “[On these projects] I can express how I feel about everything. About the world, about jealousy – just crazy stuff. I feel like if [Treon and Tiarra] were still alive, and I presented both of these projects to them, they would love it.”

G-Unit Talks Young Buck's Tax Problems, Missy Elliott Sleeping With Olivia + MORE

(AllHipHop News) Do not let the name fool you, 50 Cent wants all his money back when he loans it..family or not. In a recent interview with Power 105’s The Breakfast Club, G-Unit spoke on Young Buck’s prior tax problems, Missy Elliott and Olivia having a sexual relationship and more.

In a July 2012 interview with XXL, Young Buck admitted to having no knowledge of how to pay taxes during his intial run with G-Unit. In the XXL interview Buck stated “I went out and done all these things not knowing that once you make a half a million dollars it’s really 250 ’cause Uncle Sam gets the other half.” In the Breakfast Club interview, Yayo corroborates Buck’s story:

The thing is, you dont have to pay that year. You in a different tax bracket now. So, you paying two years later. Damn, I done spent 200 [thousand] and I owe them [$125,000] and by that time you like ‘Am I making money right now or not?’

Olivia was released from G-Unit in 2007, three years after being signed. Earlier this year, Olivia appeared on The Breakfast Club and stated that 50 Cent was angry “because I wasn’t really at the crib doing a whole bunch of music with the Unit but he heard all the records I did with Miss so he felt some type of way.” 50 does admit that Olivia’s relationship with Missy contributed to her departure, but for different reasons:

I didn’t have no problems. Missy started hitting it, if you really want to know. See, it’s [Olivia’s] fault for actually saying that to you. [Angela Yee- “Olivia said that’s not true”] Trust me.

Diabolic (feat. RA the Rugged Man) – "Suffolk's Most Wanted" (p###. by The Snowgoons)

Hip-Hop and Police have a long history of butting heads. While artists have adopted the role of liberating the people and stretching the boundaries of activism through music, the police aim to keep the status quo in tact. Naturally, this makes things difficult for those who just feel like having a little fun. On “Suffolk’s Most Wanted,” eastern LI-natives Diabolic and R.A. The Rugged Man join forces to crate an entirely new definition of entertainment, full of bars detailing their full throttle antics. Both R.A. and ‘Bolic come correct over the animated, bouncy production, courtesy of The Snowgoons (Germany). “Suffolk’s Most Wanted” is the 2nd leak, taken from Diabolic’s forthcoming sophomore LP, Fightin Words, which is set to drop on CD/2xLP and digital download on September 16th through Diabolic’s War Horse Records imprint. Jeezy Talks Auditioning To Play Tupac On Broadway, Ferguson Police + MORE

(AllHipHop News) You can’t ban the snowman from anywhere. In his upcoming cover story interview with The Source, Jeezy explained his audition for the Tupac play on Broadway, comments on the police reaction to the Ferguson demonstrations and more.

Jeezy, at his core, is a hustler and the opportunity to portray one of the greatest rappers of all time and make money from it is not a chance you pass up. The Tupac-inspired Broadway play Holler If Ya Hear Me was canceled after barely a month due to dwindling ticket sales. Undoubtedly, a star of Jeezy’s magnitude could have helped and he was willing to as he stated in his interview “I came to New York, auditioned and everything. Snoman was going to be on Broadway, man.”

Jeezy has compared being a rapper to a civil rights leader in the past and in the interview states he was “appointed by the people to be their spokesperson”. To the hood representative, the police response to the unrest in Ferguson, M.O. following Michael Brown’s shooting was handled counter-productively:

They did all the wrong things. Instead of going there and trying to resolve the situation, they went in there with tasers ,riot guns and riot forces, and you can’t come to my neighborhood and not expect us to stand up for what we believe in. You know, that type of s### happens in Iraq, that doesn’t happen in Ferguson.

The full interview will be released in the next issue of The Source.

Cassidy Says He Forced Rappers To Switch Styles + Talks Being Challenged By Jay Z (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Cassidy’s battle with Freeway has become legendary. The two young emcees at the time faced off in a match of lyrics that is still talked about today. Cass sat down with VladTV to discuss the bout, and the Philadelphia rapper explained how he helped transform battle rap and Hip Hop in general.

[ALSO READ: Cassidy Set To Battle Dizaster In Los Angeles]

Cassidy said:

I felt like the battle I had with Freeway was like the start of this new battle wave that they got – making battles popular. Like back in the day it was before the social media sites. Before people was really catching footage of it. They was just battling in the street, in clubs going at it. So, people that was there knew about it, but it was hard for the whole world to see.

The new way of rapping like piecing up multiple syllables. Saying more bars. That’s what changed rap. I think I’m responsible for that – punching all the time. There’s definitely a lot of rappers that used to say punches like Lord Finesse, Kool G Rap, Big L. There were a bunch of other people that were punching, but not every line. I started that wave and I made people want to switch up their whole style of rap. Whether people give me credit for it or not.

Cass goes on to say he believes the Freeway battle set the stage for the public demand for battle leagues today. Despite the evolution of the sport, Cassidy shares that he is happy to see the current growth of battle rap as well.

The “I’m a Hustla” performer also reflects on Jay Z “talking crazy” prior to his battle with Free. Jay and Cassidy were in the studio with Swizz Beatz when Jay challenged Cass to take on one of the rappers from his Roc-A-Fella camp.

Cassidy said:

Swizz introduced me as like the hottest n***a in the street. Hov’s like “What? You ain’t just hear my n***as on the radio? I got the hottest n***s. What is you talking about?’”

Then he’s looking at me, [and says] “N***a, you don’t even look big enough for Beans. You don’t look old enough for Free. What you want me to put you up against Chris, my 16-year-old?” And he started talking crazy. And at the time, this [was] before I was polished in the industry. I was right from the street. So, I was a little more hot-headed. Anybody that know me from back then that knows my attitude, my personality wasn’t the same.

I was getting a little aggravated. Swizz seen it. So, I’m like, “N***a, I don’t give a f**k who you call. You can call all them n***as. I’ll crush any of them n***as. I don’t give a f**k who you call.”

The Virginia singer is quoted as saying:

I realize that what I do for a living opens my life to public scrutiny and that I have a responsibility to everyone because of that exposure… I can say that I am only human and I have made mistakes. I can say that I try to live my life in the most true, honest way that I can. I am not perfect, no one is. No one is harder on me than me. No one can please everyone. No one can live in the past and expect to grow. I have been moving forward and hope that I am not defined by just a few moments in my life but all of the moments that will make up my life.

CB recently pled guilty in the misdemeanor assault case in Washington, DC. He was sentenced to time served.

Brown’s sixth studio album X is scheduled for release on September 16. The project features the singles “Loyal” and “New Flame.”
