(AllHipHop News) Brooklyn emcee Fabolous was feeling some type of way yesterday afternoon about the social media response to the death of comedian Joan Rivers.
The “Ready” rapper sent out a series of tweets to his 2.9 million followers questioning the motives of people online sending condolences to Rivers and others who have embraced the ALS ice bucket challenge.
(AllHipHop News) Battle rap continues to expand. First it was established artists Cassidy, Keith Murray, and Fredro Starr taking on the platform at upcoming events, and now two more artists that have experienced Billboard chart success are adding their names to the list.
Atlanta’s Bone Crusher will face Houston’s Mike Jones at MC War’s NWO this month. Crusher made noise in 2003 with his single “Never Scared” featuring T.I. and Killer Mike. Jones’ 2005 debut album Who Is Mike Jones? went on to be certified platinum.
MC War’s NWO will take place September 28 at The Atrium in Stone Mountain, Georgia. The main event on the card is Keith Murray vs. Fredro Starr. Other emcees scheduled to battle at the event include E Ness, Sy Ari Da Kid, Ness Lee, Reign Man, Lotta Zay, Reggie P, Syd Vicious, and So Severe.
Sa-Roc drops off her high energy single “Maximum Frequency” produced by Sol Messiah the cut’s grimy, sampled beat, flipping a snippet from Busta Rhymes‘s classic Woo Hah!! This single is from her newly released album NEBUCHADNEZZAR which is available on iTunes.
(AllHipHop News) Marcos Maidana just became the second most important battle Floyd Mayweather Jr will have to face in the near future. Earlier today (September 4th), Mayweahter Jr’s ex-fiance, Shantel Jackson is suing the boxer for defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, invasion of privacy, assault, battery and a number of other charges.
According to Jackson’s suit, Mayweather Jr physically assaulted her first back in 2012 by twisting her arm, choking her and forcibly removing her phone from her hand. The following year in April is allegedly when the second incident took place which involved Mayweather Jr. pointing a gun at Jackson’s toes and asking “Which toe do you want me to shoot?'” The suit also alleges that Maywewather Jr held Jackson at gunpoint when having her remove her engagement ring.
The suit’s defamation, invasion of privacy and intentional infliction of emotional distress charges are more than likely tied to Mayweather Jr’s posting of her abortion documents on his personal Instagram account on May 1st. At the time, Mayweather Jr alleged Jackson hid her abortion of their child by lying about a having a miscarriage.
Check out Jackson’s press conference announcing the suit below:
I got this off of KnockoutNation and, yeah…this is scary. Antoine Dodson, the internet sensation, is now a boxer.
Yes…this dude is boxer now.
(KnockoutNation Exclusive) At one point, Antoine Dodson told people to hide for safety but now he’s changed his tune. He now wants people to come to him so they can get hurt – in the boxing ring.
The one-time social media superstar has joined forces with promoter Dan Feldman, known for putting together celebrity boxing matches. The pair hope to link Dodson with a fight in the near future. Who that person is, is anybody’s guess.
Dodson is best known for fighting off a man that attempted to rape his sister. In an interview with a local news station he said, ““Well, obviously we have a RAPIST in Lincoln Park. He’s climbin’ in your windows, he’s snatchin’ your people up, tryin’ to rape ‘em. So y’all need to hide your kids, hide your wife, and hide your husband cause they’re rapin’ everybody out here.”
Now, I was able to obtain an exclusive image of Antoine “The Killer” Dodson as a boxer:
Boaz returns with the second volume of his “Real Name, No Gimmicks” 5 track series. Volume 2 includes features from MMG’s Rockie Fresh and NYC rapper Grafh and production by Amadeus, Hot Traks and more.
Innocence lost and faith regained through personal redemption, Dave Ea$t, possesses the poetic soul of a black rose. Lyrical symphonies derived from the corner to the collegiate classroom, his evolved perspective resonates with a universal appeal. Repping the east side of Harlem, he strives to utilize his talents and drive to create another Hip-Hop renaissance.
Black Rose, the latest offering from emerging MC is the proof. It clearly demonstrates that those who ensnarled by impoverished living conditions may transform compacted pain into a sustained meaningful existence.
AllHipHop.com: For the folks who are unfamiliar with your journey, who are you as a man and as an MC?
Dave Ea$t: As a man, I’m 100 percent; I’m loyal. It means that I don’t act like somebody that I’m not. I have no reason to lie to nobody. I keep it 100. As an MC, I’m different. I mean, I got an old soul, but I’m 26. I’m young, you know what I mean. Of course, I’m going to have a new energy with me. But, I don’t listen to new n*ggas. So, my whole energy is based on what I came up on. You know—Jay [Z], Styles P, Biggie, Nas, [Jada]Kiss—you know, that’s what I came up on. So, that’s the energy that I rap with.
AllHipHop.com: So far, from what I heard from you, the grittiness reminds me of Mobb Deep.
Dave Ea$t: It’s grimey—I f*ck with the Mobb. I’m in the ‘Bridge [Queensbridge] every other day. I got family in the ‘Bridge; so, I f*ck with the ‘Bridge heavy. Nas is the big homie. You know what I’m saying. I’m just not nobody—I don’t have to lie. A lot of people ask me, ‘Yo, how do you write so fast?’ ‘Cause it’s coming straight from my head—what I just saw, what I was doing yesterday. I’m not trying to create nothing, it’s coming straight from my head. I’m really in the streets. That’s the difference between me and a lot of rappers. I be outside. I’m in the studio, but I’m not no “studio rapper.” I go to the studio then I’m back outside. So, that’s why it sounds a little different.
AllHipHop.com: What best describes your voice as an MC; why do you feel compelled to share your art?
Dave Ea$t: Hungry! I feel like I just sound hungry—my voice, it sounds different because—I feel like my voice is strong. You know when it’s me on a record. The hunger is there. More than anything it’s Harlem; you hear it. If you’re from Uptown—if you’re from Harlem—then you know what I’m talking about. In the Rap game that’s what my voice is.
Honestly, because I feel like my story is different. A lot of sh*t goes on in my life that goes on in a lot of other people’s lives. There’s nobody talking about it. I feel like a lot of n*ggas are talking about the clubs, the cars the jewelry, and the girls. But what I’m talking about is the everyday –you gotta go to work, or you gotta go sell drugs—the regular person, I feel like they’re going to relate to me. That’s my voice in Hip-Hop.
AllHipHop.com: Notable Hip-Hop proponents like, Sway and Shaheem Reid, respect both your words and your work-ethic. What factors motivated you to bring your musical aspiration to fruition?
Dave Ea$t: I think it’s just being outside every day and being able to talk on what’s going on. Nobody can really speak on what’s going on where I’m from. So, I feel like I’m the one. I feel like that’s my job to talk about what’s going on on the East side of Harlem. That’s the difference with me. I feel like I have to do that. I need to let people know what’s going on where I’m from. I feel like that story is that strong. As strong as a Dr. Dre or as a Snoop story is in L.A., I feel like my story is just as strong in the east side of Harlem.
AllHipHop.com: Your supporters believe you’re the new face of New York’s Hip-Hop. Which of your tracks best transcend that distinction and will be universally endorsed my Hip-Hop?
Dave Ea$t: Right now, I feel like any music that I make will have a New York sound to it. I’m from Harlem; so, you’re going to hear that in my music. I don’t want to be under the umbrella of being just a New York artist. That’s a great title, but I want a little more distinction than that. Black Rose is my most recent work. It shows how I’m feeling at this point in my life…
Just make sure that you download that. I put a lot of heart and soul into this tape. If you really want to hear the essence of New York City—the production, the stories with lyricism—all that I feel like you should definitely check it out. It’s definitely Harlem. It’s me; you can listen to that tape and get into my life. You’ll know all about me.
(AllHipHop News) While not factually correct, for all intents and purposes, Young Money/Cash Money owns BET. Today (September 4th) it was revealed that Drake will lead all other artists with the most nominations at the 2014 BET Hip Hop Awards.
YMCMB’s Canadian dynamo nabbed eight nominations, five less than his 13 nominations from last year’s BET Hip Hop Awards. Drake goes up against Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Jay Z, J. Cole and fellow labelmate Nicki Minaj in the Lyricist Of The Year category and MVP of the year category (sans Eminem and Kendrick Lamar) which Drake lost both awards to Lamar at last year’s award ceremony. Drake’s “Started From The Bottom” won Track of the Year at last year’s award ceremony and his “Worst Behavior” song will be nominated for Track of the Year.
Snoop Dogg will return as host of this year’s award ceremony and is tapped to perform. AllHipHop is also nominated for Best Hip Hop Online site.
The 2014 BET Hip Hop Awards will be taped Saturday, September 20, 2014 at the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center in Atlanta, GA. The show will air on Tuesday, October 14th, 2014 at 8:00 p.m. ET.

(AllHipHop Features) Hollow Da Don has been one of the premier battle rappers in the game ever since he dominated 106 & Park’s “Freestyle Friday” competition in 2006. The native New Yorker took home the show’s weekly battle crown seven times in a row.
Hollow parlayed that TV success to numerous battle rap league victories and an eventual co-sign from Young Money superstar Drake.
With a stat sheet that includes matches against elite battlers such as Arsonal, Big T, Illmaculate, Aye Verb, Hitman Holla, Tsu Surf, and Loaded Lux, Hollow still broke new ground when he went face-to-face with major label signee Joe Budden at Total Slaughter I.
There are two other top-tier battlers that Hollow has in his immediate lyrical crosshairs. In AllHipHop.com’s fourth edition of “Profiles In Battle Rap,” Da Dinininon shares his personal hit list, favorite battles, rap producers he has worked with, and one of his slept on lines from the match with Budden.
Professionally, in front of a wide audience 7-8 years. In total battling period, about 12-13 years.
Style Known For (ie aggression, wordplay, punchlines, freestyle)
Untouchable is the best way to put my style. It’s unpredictable. You don’t know if I’m going to go punchlines, jokes… keeping opponents on their toes, not knowing how to come at me.
Crew
I wouldn’t call it a crew. It’s more of a movement – Loyalty Over Money (LOM).
Slogan
“Loyalty Over Money”
Leagues Competed In
I’ve done every possible league and dominated every league – 106 & Park, Fight Club, Grind Time, WRC, URL/Smack, Total Slaughter.
Mixtapes/Albums
Loyalty Is A Way Of Life, Money Changes, Loyalty Don’t. I decided to stop making music to just focus on battling. I still write. I just haven’t recorded. I ain’t really been in my bag lately. I’m just letting it flow. I might drop singles, but I don’t plan on dropping a whole project.
Favorite Battle (Participant)
Me vs. Big T

One Of Your All Time Hottest Line
In the Joe Budden battle I said, “You know who the hell is Joe?/That funny Martin episode/He talk about that hoe tell (hotel) when in the end/He’s fighting with the rat.” They didn’t catch that. A hotel is actually an “inn.” In the end of the Martin episode, he was fighting with the rat in the hotel.
Your Battle Rap Mount Rushmore
Me, Loaded Lux, Murda Mook, Illmaculate
One Mainstream Rapper You’d Like To Battle
Anybody that’s a lyricist. It ain’t about attacking the mainstream. I’m definitely trying to go at an Eminem, Cassidy – lyricists that I respect. But there’s no official mainstream rapper that I’m gunning for.
Name One Battler You Think Could Possibly Beat You On Their Absolute A Game
Any top-tier battle rapper. Anybody you name. That’s what they don’t understand about battling. Everybody wants Jordan to have 63 points against Boston, but he may have different nights where he might have 32 and 10 rebounds. It’s still a good night, but they don’t appreciate it because they want to see the classic night they remember that you got famous off of.
Different nights you are going to have great performances. It’s just a different type of performance. That goes to say, with anybody that’s a top-tier battle rapper – as long as they’re on their A-game and having a great performance – you’re not going to beat them. You know who the top-tier cats are.
Artists You’ve Worked With Musically
I’ve worked more with producers like Alchemist, Chuck Inglish. I was just in the studio with Scott Storch. I mess with a lot artist too, but I’m just not the collab type of guy. I’m the guy that chills, kicks it, and if I’m feeling the vibe, I’ll hop on the track. I hate to force the issue. This is when I was doing music. Like I said, I’m not doing music anymore. I’m not a rapper.
Your Battle Rap Hit List
Charlie Clips first and foremost. Maybe even Mook, if he wants to jump in the way and get stupid. It’s still “ABG” – anybody can get it. No exceptions.
Top 5 Emcees DOA
Not in order: Biggie, Pac, Eminem, Big Pun, Pimp C
Do You Prefer To Participate In A Debatable Battle Or A Clear Victory?
Honestly, it depends on how much you really hate the person. If you hate the person you’re battling you want to win no matter what. If you’re battling somebody you respect, a classic will always be the best, because those are the ones that get talked about the most.
Where Do You See Battle Rap Going In The Future?
It’s just going to get bigger. At the end of the day, it’s going to be a sport that’s respected like any other sport. That’s what we’re hoping for. We don’t expect it to change the world and bring peace. None of that is going to happen with battle rap. It’s an aggressive sport. It’s underground. We just want to get respect, because we respect rap and music period. So we want to get respect in the same breath.
(AllHipHop News) Young Money/Cash Money Records is just digital flexing. Yesterday, Funkmaster Flex was named the Content Creator and Director of the label’s new website Stunnalife.com and the accompanying Stunnalife app.
The new website and app will contain all of Cash Money/Young Money artists’ music and news. Last April, Flex partnered with Loud Digital to release his InFlexWeTrust app which exclusively distributed his Who You Mad At? Me or Yourself? mixtape.
Flex’s app has accumulated over 500,000 downloads in under a year and a half. In a press release, Flex stated he is “excited to partner with Birdman on this venture. He has built one of the biggest machines in music, and he creates superstars, so moving forward together is a no-brainer.”
The Stunnalife app will be available on Google Play and iTunes App Store this Fall along with the release of the website.
Chicago rhymer Veto Vangundy drops the sequel to his From Pain To Glory mixtape. His latest effort The Last Hope is a 15-track project that features production by Black Metaphor, BolotheProducer, and fellow Chicagoan Csick. The project also includes the buzzworthy single “Keep It Wu.”
Theophilus London releases the Brodinski & Club Cheval-produced first single “Tribes” featuring frequent collaborator Jessie Boykins III from his upcoming VIBES! album which hits stores this fall. The single features artwork shot by legendary designer, artist and photographer Karl Lagerfeld.
(AllHipHop News) Ja Rule…Hip Hop’s Bill Cosby? MTV has announced that Ja Rule’s family life will be documented in a new reality TV show entitled Follow The Rules.
The half-an-hour reality TV show will focus on Ja Rule raising his three children with Queen Latifah and Irv Gotti as two of the executive producers. While Rule states “family tradition will never be the same again b*tch” in a press release for the announcement, MTV’s President of Programming Susanne Daniels has loftier adulation of the show:
Ja Rule is the modern day reality rap star version of Bill Cosby’s role from ‘The Cosby Show.’ He embraces a unique parenting style with his teenage kids that feels fresh and funny.
There is no word on when the show will premiere. Check out a preview of a few scenes from Follow The Rules below:
