YouTube Co-Founder To Kanye West & Kim Kardashian: Why Aren’t You Suing TMZ?

(AllHipHop News) Kanye West’s elaborate wedding proposal to Kim Kardashian last year was a huge spectacle with several celebrities in attendance including YouTube co-founder Chad Hurley.

While Kanye and Kim’s mother, Kris Jenner, were happy to let E! film the occasion, they insisted that no other video be taken. Hurley did record the moment and posted the vid on his new media platform MixBit.

West and Kardashian ultimately sued Hurley accusing him of violating the confidentiality agreement he signed agreeing not to release any information about the event.

Hurley is now asking a judge to throw out the lawsuit on the grounds that releasing video of the Kanye-Kim proposal falls under his First Amendment right of free speech as a matter of public interest. He also claims that the couple has benefited from the publicity the video garnered, and they have not attempted to sue other media outlets or individuals who have also shared the video publicly.

According to THR, Hurley’s court documents address the entertainment website TMZ specifically:

Plaintiffs jumped through hoops to be the named plaintiffs in this suit, acquiring purported rights under the Release from E! Entertainment Television LLC, inexplicably leaked the complaint to news outlets before Defendants were even served, and failed to go after other parties, including TMZ, that continue to display postings of the purportedly offending video even to this day…

Plaintiffs have still not sued TMZ or requested that TMZ remove the copy of the proposal that remains on its website.

Hurley’s attorneys also argue since TMZ removed MixBit’s branding from the video, added its own branding, and exported the video to its own player (not an embed), the company has no control over removing the video and eliminated MixBit’s ability to benefit from it.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Guess Who The New Rapper For Love & Hip-Hop Is?

“Love & Hip-Hop” is an interesting franchise. They have made a practice of rebranding and revamping careers…in a different form. Well, the last season brought the re-rise of Saigon and Peter Gunz. I don’t know who is out or whatever, but I am hearing that this guy is in:

Ok, maybe you don’t know this guy. He’s grown up a bit.

What about this dude?

Its CHI ALI! Remember him? He’s been out of the big house a couple years and he’s been rapping. Well, guess what? My sources tell me he’s the new guy on “Love & Hip-Hop.” Some of the details are scant, but I’m hearing Chi is going to bring all types of dramedy to the game. I don’t watch the show so I am not clear on if people like Joe Budden have left or anything, but trust and believe…its on.

Dancehall Artist Vybz Kartel Convicted Of Murder.

(AllHipHop News) The artist, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, was tried and convicted as one of the killers of one Clive “Lizard” Williams.

Kartel maintained his innocence, but was not able to convince a jury. The jury came back with a guilty verdict after a mere two hours even though the trial took a whopping 65 days.

Kartel’s lawyer said they would vigorously appeal the decision and suggested the police were biased.

“We will not sit by and let this case of injustice score victory. We will be appealing the verdict given the many questionable police corruption in the case,” the lawyer said according to UrbanIslands.com.

Kartel was acquitted of the murder of Barrington “Bossie” Burton last year.
The body of Clive Williams was never found, but authorities maintain it happened in a house owned by Kartel.

Three other men, Shawn “Storm” Campbell, Kahira Jones, and André St John, were also found guilty in the murder.

Kartel faces life in prison.

AHH Concert Review: Juicy J ‘Never Sober’ Tour

Last night, Juicy J’s ‘Never Sober’ tour, was welcomed to New York City’s, Irving Plaza. New-Harlem native, Vinny Cha$e, was an “impromptu” replacement for Travis Scott. Challenged with igniting the gathering crowd’s interest, Cha$e, performed sans his signature Chanel ski-mask. From indifferent side-eyeing to a lackadaisical response from Vinny’s insistence to, ‘Ball, Ball,” the hometown eyes politely tolerated the emerging rapper.

Once Project Pat took the stage, his blood red t-shirt displaying ‘Risk It All’ in mortician-black lettering demanded attention. ‘Do New York Women twerk they a**,’ and ‘Is this the city where dreams are made of,’ were questions that elicited an immediate response. “If You Ain’t From My Hood,” commenced the set. With a track like, “Weed Smoke,” the THC-thickened atmosphere grew in intensity. Recent discography additions like, “Never Be A G,” produced by Mike Will Made It solidifies Pat’s current credibility. Both “Gas,” and “Anti-Social” performed with NastyMane and Young Dolph demonstrated his enduring skill.

Fans favorites like “Twerk That A**” absolutely encouraged the ‘ratchets. What kind of debauchery would it be, if the show continued, without any cultured young ladies displaying inebriated dancing skills? Do not fret; it definitely went down! Two lovely females, one dressed in virgin-white, the other in a conservative church-skirt delighted the crowd with their twerktastic skill-set. Project Pat’s “Chickenhead,” the ‘Ratchet national anthem, ushered the crowd to a heightened level.

Finally, when Juicy J, took the stage the sold-out crowd was ready! A simple, “Turn Up, New York,” elicited a thunderous response. Climbing atop speakers, the 20 year veteran demanded, “Don’t pass me no regular I’m’a turn it down,” from the street classic “All I Blow Is Loud.” Matter-of-fact statements detailing having sex all day, and requiring three hands to count all his money, Juicy J performed the Billboard number one hit, “Dark Horse.” No, Katy Perry, was not in attendance, but Juicy did dedicate the performance to the ladies. “Bandz A Make Her Dance,” and “Scholarship” demonstrated his ingrained appreciation from women.

Concert Recap:

“I worked hard for this sh*t; I’m the G.O.A.T.,” was Juicy J’s self-professed segue to recalling his litany of professional accomplishments. Later the Academy-Award winning producer, time-travelled back to his humble beginnings,  performing the classic Three 6 Mafia hit and personal favorite, “Sippin’ On Some Syrup,” and the resounding ‘hood favorite “Slob On My Knob.”

“We Still In This B*tch,” “Show Out,” and “23”were among the host of tracks that were performed. With a 20 year investment into his craft, Juicy is honored and humbled that his legacy continues. The grateful rapper/ producer donated two signed pairs of Jordan brand sneakers, and the pair of Red Octobers designed by Kanye West (Yes, he actually removed these from his feet and gave them away)! Sadly, no scholarships were given away, but several supporters were invited on stage to capture priceless memories, in the form of selfies.

If sobriety is frowned-up then definitely bask in the Never Sober tour!
