(AllHipHop News) A court has ruled that the embattled city of Detroit can now file for bankruptcy, a landmark decision.
This represents the largest bankruptcy filing in the history of the United States.
The city now has protection from its creditors and will submit a plan to restructure its $18 billion in debt, according to a new report from the BBC.
A judge said that the city had made a good faith effort to pay creditors, but was unable because of the vast extent of the debt. The ruling will also protect the pension pay out of the elderly.
The report also said that roughly 40% of Detroit’s streetlights don’t work and there are about 150,000 vacant lots and buildings in the city.
Right now, the city’s population is about 700,000, a dramatic decline from the 1950 peak of 1.8 million.
Detroit still offers a vibrant music scene that touts a number of notable Hip-Hop acts.
The following quick video is one of the most stand out Vines of the year. Watch as this rapper snatches the mic from a reporter who stands there looking bewildered and mortified.
This is sheer stupidity. Seems like the plain ole cinnamon challenge wasn’t enough for this guy so, he decided to take the challenge while getting pepper sprayed and it leads to him almost choking to death. #FAIL

(AllHipHop News) By now most people are aware of Drake’s appreciation for the late singer Aaliyah. The Young Money performer has a picture of “Baby Girl” tattooed on his back and there had been a lot of talk about he and producer Noah “40” Shebib creating another Aaliyah album in the past. While that full project has been on hold for a while, Drizzy appears to be ready to release another single featuring the voice of the “One In A Million” singer.
Drake posted a short video to his Instagram page with the caption “24 HOURS ON THIS BUS.” Young Money HQ is reporting that the tune playing in the background is a new collaboration between Drake and Aaliyah. Drake had announced that he will be dropping four new tracks before the end of the year.
The Nothing Was The Same rapper was previously featured on the unreleased Aaliyah track “Enough Said” in 2012. The song was met with mixed reactions. There is no word yet when or if the full version of the new Drake/Aaliyah song will be released.
Word on the street is Erica Mena had to make some major shake ups in her personal story line in order to stay on the current season of Love & Hip-Hop New York so she went the lesbian route. In previous seasons she mentioned that she “smashes” women but these days she’s allegedly in a relationship with the previously straight Cyn Santana.
Whispers are saying that the relationship was fabricated to created tension with Rich. Who better to put in the middle of a love triangle with two women? Cyn Santana has also been trying to get her Instagram modeling career off the ground so why not go for it, right?
Sounds plausible. Maybe it will by Erica another season on the show.
(AllHipHop News) Kanye West media blitz continues. His latest interview was with Atlanta’s V103 radio station. During the Q&A, Kanye speaks on several topics including G.O.O.D. Music artist Cyhi The Prynce, his sit down with Sway, his problems with Nike, and his opinion on a few famous tracks from a Brooklyn Hip Hop legend.
While discussing how great the Notorious B.I.G. was at being able to popularize any type of track he rapped over, Kanye reveals he is not a fan of the beats for two of Biggie’s biggest hits.
“That ‘Juicy’ beat, I don’t like that beat man,” states Kanye. “And I don’t like the beat for throw your hands in the air if you a true player [‘Big Poppa’]. I don’t like the Dr. Dre worm noise on the chorus. At all, till this day. I don’t imagine that Biggie like that that much either.”
He then adds, “Biggie Smalls made you think that ‘Big Poppa’ beat was cold. It was not a cold beat.”
Not a lot here. But, seems like Lauryn Hill got married almost one year ago in a very secret wedding on December 31, 2012. Here she is with the lucky man.
I heard this guy above is NOT the spouse though.

(AllHipHop News) For many listeners one of the standout tracks on J. Cole’s sophomore album was the song “Rich N****z.” The cut opens with the Roc Nation emcee rapping “I hate rich n****s,” but it then goes on to reveal the rapper’s own apprehension about the fact he is now one of those people with money he use to hate.
Cole spoke with Hard Knock TV to discuss track 9 off Born Sinner. He talks about growing up in Fayetteville, North Carolina feeling jealous of his classmates who were more well off than him. He shares another story about his mother having to take on a part-time job and his worries that she would get hurt delivering pizza at night.
Cole also refers to “Rich N****z’s” second verse where he calls out rappers who focus all their rhymes on wealth and material possessions. He then questions himself on whether he is now a part of that group of entertainers that put money first.
“I’m talking to this rapper like, ‘Damn, your flow is ill, but the only thing you offer to world is talking about how much money you have?” says Cole. “I know you’re suppose to write your life, but damn you ain’t got nothing else to talk about. I see through you… Oh s**t. Am I becoming you? That’s the fear.”

This is insane. A woman purposely scratched a £20,000 ($32,696.00) car to force her husband into buying it for her. Get this, her logic behind this is that because her husband looks younger than her, he owes her this vehicle. Watch the video as the woman goes crazy at China’s Guangzhou Auto Show during an argument with her husband.
Onlookers heard the wife shouting that she deserved the car because she’d given her all to the marriage – especially when she was “getting old” and the husband still looked young.
A scuffle broke out as the husband tried to pull her wife away from the car, but she broke away and scratched the bonnet for a second time.
The damaged car was a BYD Qin – the follow up to the world’s first mass produced hybrid car.
The car is due for release in December, and orders are being taken for 200,000 Yuan (about £20,000).
That is some wild ish. I wonder what happened when they got home.

Rumors of tension between the duo have constantly popped up over the past decade, but with Big Boi and Andre 3000 set to reunite for a tour in 2014 the ATLiens took to social media to show they are currently hanging tough.
While there is no guarantee that the creators of classics like Aquemini and Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik are back in the studio making more music together, the upcoming tour and the pics do provide hope that 2006’s Idlewild may not be the last time Kast fans gets to hear a record from Sir Lucious Left Foot and 3 Stacks.

“We Own the Night is a mixture of a compilation and solo efforts from my upcoming Vampire Empire. Eleven years ago neo soul singer Glenn Lewis released his commonly known hit “Don’t You Forget It” on his debut album World Outside My Window. Lewis, the child of Trinidadian and Jamaican parents hailing from Toronto, Canada, acknowledges the difficulties for recognition of artists from his city. However, within the last decade, however, rapper Drake has reestablished T. Dot’s musical notoriety.
On his new album, Moment of Truth, Lewis returns to his musical roots with an album that is very Caribbean flavored. Lewis’s latest album features productions from Grammy Award winning pair Dre & Vidal, DJ Camper, Carvin Haggins and Ivan Barias, and upcoming producers Matrax. He also has a duet with Roc Nation vocalist, and “hometown heroine” Melanie Fiona. After a hiatus from the spotlight of the music industry Glenn recognized, with his latest work, that his primary audience were women, and credits his focus for the album to having fun with his listeners, and making hits the ladies can vibe to.
AllHipHop.com: Can you talk a little about the music scene in Toronto?
Glenn Lewis: Toronto is really aesthetically a cross between Chicago, aspiring to be bustling like New York, and culturally like London. There has always been great talent here; it takes a while for the music to break out from just the Toronto scene; Artists like myself, Deborah Cox, and Tamia, brought attention to Toronto. Toronto has a cool night life, just like New York. There is the Caribana Festival, where everyone comes out to in summer, and it brought another level of attention. There are a lot of interesting aspects, from the people to the culture.
AllHipHop.com: After you released World Outside My Window in 2002, you went on a hiatus for several years, what made you want to come back and record your new album?
Glenn Lewis: I’d always been working on music the entire time. I’ve been in different situations and different deals. I had completed a number of projects in that time but for one reason or another — timing wise or just different things had caused those projects to not come out. I guess the stars aligned so to speak with the Ruff House/Capitol situation and I did the deal in 2011.
AllHipHop.com: Tell us about your new album Moment of Truth and how it’s different from your previous work?
Glenn Lewis: Basically, the mindset going in was that I didn’t have to show growth or evolution as an artist. I believe that just with the time that has passed; I just felt that it was something that would come across regardless in the content and the approach on the record. I felt like my first album was more introspective, therapeutic and a collection of experiences that led up to that moment. That album was like 25 years in the making. My current effort is not a complete departure from the introspective scope. In Moment of Truth I seek to bridge the era of the music that I come out of, to the R&B music of today.
