Jay Z Announces He Is “Moving Forward” With Barneys Collection

(AllHipHop News) Hip Hop mogul Jay Z received significant criticism over the last several weeks over his upcoming apparel collection selling exclusively at Barneys New York. The store was under fire for two alleged incidents of racial profiling which led to an online petition asking Jay to end his partnership with the high-end retailer.

After providing an initial statement saying that he was “waiting on facts” before he decided his next move in the situation, Jay issued another statement today announcing he plans to continue with the November 20th launch of his limited edition collection with Barneys.

Read Jay Z’s full statement below via Life+Times:

In the past several weeks two separate investigations were launched as a result of the wrongful detention of Trayon Christian and Kayla Phillips.  My team has been privy to the status of the Barneys third party consultant investigation.  In continuing our research, we also contacted the New York State Attorney General’s office for the status of their investigation into both Barneys and Macy’s. Those findings are not yet available.

While I await the findings of the Attorney General’s Office, I have agreed to move forward with the launch of BNY SCC collection under the condition that I have a leadership role and seat on a council specifically convened to deal with the issue of racial profiling.  I am in a unique position to use my voice to affect change to this disturbing issue.  The easy position would have been to walk away and leave policy making to others hoping that someone addresses the problem.  I will not leave the outcome to others.  I will take this into my own hands with full power to recommend, review and revise policies and guidelines moving forward.  I am choosing to take this head on.

As I previously stated, the collaboration with Barneys has always been about giving and The Shawn Carter Foundation.  From this collection, the Foundation will receive not only  25% of sales, it will now receive the additional 75% of Barneys’ sales, totalling 100% of all sales from BNY SCC.   Along with 100% of sales from the collaboration, the Foundation will receive an additional 10% of all retail sales from Barneys New York stores nationwide and Barneys.com on November 20th.

Hip-Hop Rumors: ROCKY STRIKES, Sylvester Stallone Calls Papz N***er!

WHAT THE HELL?

Sylvester Stallone

Sly Stallone must have gotten hit in the head too many times from Clubber Lang and Apollo Creed! Why? This MF went on a rant where he called a Black paparazzi a N***ER!!!!!! Here is how it went down according to TMZ!

Sylvester Stallone had some harsh words for a paparazzo in Beverly Hills Thursday … grousing, “This f**king n***er here, this f**ker.”

Sly was leaving Caffe Roma with a friend. They were followed by a group of photogs. Sly then hurls the racial epithet. It comes at 7 seconds into the clip.

The video is a little difficult to hear, but as Sly turns the corner and looks over his right shoulder — back at the paparazzi — you clearly hear him use the n word. A little later in the video, you hear a female photog say to Sly, “Why the racial slurs?”

There were African-American photogs shooting Sly at Caffe Roma, but it’s unclear if the epithet was directed at them.

Sly Said…
“F**king N***er”
“F**king Ass**le”
VOTE
Sly’s rep tells TMZ, the actor DENIES using the N word. The rep says Sly is insistent, he said, “F**king Ass**le.” The rep says the woman in the video who says, “Why the racial slurs?” was NOT talking directly to Sly. The rep says the photog made the comment so she could pump up the value of the video.

I hope not! I’d hate to stop watching Rocky after all these years. Give Mr. T and Carl Weathers their money or put them in “The Disposables” or whatever that movie is called!!!!!

Oh yeah…Rumor has it there is another Rocky flick in the works and, guess whow is reportedly anchoring it? A N***ER!

Michael B. Jordan is rumored to be playing in a new Rocky movie as Apollo Creed’s grand son that wants to box. I wonder who will make him a champion?

F**K you SLY! Say sorry and give those guys their just do!

[KNOCKOUT NATION] Andre Ward Talks Mainstream Appeal, Floyd Mayweather & The Plight Of The African American Boxer

For his critics, winning a gold medal for the United States in 2004 Olympics, going pro and attaining an unbeaten record (26-0) while being recognized as the second best fighter in the world behind Floyd Mayweather isn’t enough. According to the skeptics, the WBA (Super) and The Ring Super Middleweight champion continues to win fights, but hasn’t figured out the winning combination to win over new fans. He doesn’t have the great equalizer in knockout power and doesn’t have the polarizing personality to make him attractive to mainstream boxing fans. He’s just a good guy who fights very, very well. But shouldn’t that be enough? As he prepares to take on Edwin Rodriguez on November 16, Knockout Nation sits down with Andre Ward to talk about his mainstream appeal, whether or not he has beef with Floyd Mayweather and the plight of the African American boxer.

Knockout Nation: Two things stuck out to me in the Dawson fight, one was that you said you wanted to remove the he’s good “but” part out of the conversation when people speak of you. The other was that you alluded to making Chad Dawson quit before it actually happened. Was the plan to essentially kill two birds with one stone when you fought Dawson?

Andre Ward: We went into the fight knowing that we could stop Chad Dawson. He’s not a man that you can go in there and know you’ll knock him out. It just doesn’t happen. But we had the mindset and in the weeks leading up to the fight I said to not be surprised if he runs into a shot. The plan was to break him down and catch him late and that’s exactly what we did. So, the answer to your question is yes.

Knockout Nation: The momentum you gained by stopping Dawson was slowed down when an injury forced you out for the past year. How frustrating was it to be on the sidelines even though you were still visible doing commentary for HBO?

Andre Ward: It was very frustrating. Sometimes even discouraging because I had the best seat in the house calling fights but I couldn’t participate. The fans would always ask when would I be back and I didn’t have an answer. Even when I was physically cleared there were holdups with the business side of things. It was frustrating but you cannot just embrace the good times. You have to value the bad ones as well. I decided that I would enjoy my life while I waited to get back into the ring. When I come back, I’m going to do it with a statement and that’s where my mindset is right now.

Knockout Nation: On the flipside of that, you were in a series of highly competitive fights. So perhaps this was also a much needed break?

Andre Ward: That’s very true. I know my body needed a year off. It’s one thing to be eager and want to come right back. But your body sometimes says something different. I’ve got twenty years under my belt of training and fighting and taking punches. That year off isn’t going to hurt me; it is going to help me. It may not be ideal but when you look at Floyd Mayweather taking the hiatuses that he taken over the last four years have preserved him. Especially considering that he’s been fighting since he was a kid. You see Pacquiao fighting two or three times a year and all the training camps he has to go through. Sometimes the body says enough is enough. Floyd did right making those decisions to take extended breaks. He knows what he needed to do. I’m learning the same thing. I’m thinking that in the end it will benefit me in the long run.

“I’m not in competition with Floyd Mayweather”

Knockout Nation: Rodriguez is unbeaten but nobody is really giving him a chance to beat you. But what is your take on Rodriguez?
Andre Ward: I don’t read the general consensus of what people feel about my opponent because I know that he’s earned his shot, his eager and he’s coming to take something. I’m not a champion who looks past his opponents. I take everyone very seriously. Sometimes more serious than I probably should because I want to make sure that I’m mentally up to par.

Knockout Nation: The plight of the African American boxer is an interesting one. Gone are the days when African American boxers could possess crossover appeal for their in ring ability without being too controversial. Guys like Hearns, Leonard, Hagler, Holmes were fighters young kids could look up to and their parents would feel comfortable with their children looking up to them. Now we are missing black boxers with that crossover appeal unless there is some kind of controversy that follows them. What is your take?

Reported Source Claims Jimmy Henchman Was Actually Behind Bogus 2PAC/Bad Boy Shooting Article

(AllHipHop News) One of the most embarrassing moments in the history of the Los Angeles Times came in 2008 when the newspaper published an article titled “An Attack On Tupac Shakur Launched A Hip-Hop War.”  The piece asserted that Sean “Diddy” Combs’ associates James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond, Jacques “Haitian Jack” Agnant, and supposed friend James “Jimmy” Sabatino conspired to orchestrate the shooting of Tupac Shakur in 1994 as retribution for not signing with Bad Boy Records.

[ALSO CHECK OUT: Nas Reveals Conversation w/ 2pac Right Before His Death]

At first the piece was heralded as exceptional journalism, but it turned out that it was all based on a lie. L.A. Times reporter Chuck Phillips centered much of his story on FBI documents allegedly forged by master con man Sabatino whose family is connected to the New York mafia. The fake docs claimed that Sabatino was present with Combs and The Notorious B.I.G. the night Pac was shot at the Quad Recording Studios in New York.

Phillips said Sabatino called him from prison and provided information about the incident that allegedly backed up research the reporter had already collected. Ultimately, it was discovered that the so-called FBI papers were typo-filled forgeries drafted on outdated typewriters. Phillip’s story was discredited and the L.A. Times was forced to retract the article.

Sabatino recently gave his first interview to the Miami New Times and asserted that he was never in contact with Phillips. He says it was Rosemond who orchestrated the fake FBI docs scheme. Sabatino has been honest about other elaborate hoaxes he has conducted including pretending to be the nephew of music executive Tommy Mottola in order to steal $60,000 worth of Mac computers.

Jimmy Sabatino
Jimmy Sabatino

“This was the one con I didn’t do,” said Sabatino. He goes on to say Rosemond purposely set him up to appear as the source of Phillips’ bogus report.

Phillips later wrote an article for the Village Voice in 2012 revealing that Rosemond admitted involvement in the ’94 Pac shooting to federal prosecutors in an attempt to arrange a plea deal for a pending drug case. Rosemond was eventually sentenced to life in prison for a heading up the criminal enterprise known as “The Rosemond Organization.”

[ALSO READ: EXCLUSIVE: James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond Sentenced To Life; Official Statement]

Rosemond’s former friend Dexter Isaac had also confessed to being involved in the Quad Studios ambush. Issac told AllHipHop in 2011 that Rosemond gave him $2500 and jewelry to conduct the hit on Pac. Henchman was also recently implicated in ordering the 2005 shooting of Pac’s former Death Row label head Suge Knight.

[ALSO READ: Hip-Hop Rumors: Jimmy Henchman Got Suge Knight Shot?]

Issac was also a known source for Phillip’s L.A. Times 2Pac article. Another layer to the story comes in the fact that Issac and Sabatino were housed at the same Pennsylvania prison, and both inmates had access to typewriters while incarcerated.

Sabatino was released from prison this past summer after serving 14 years. He was arrested again recently for conning hotels in Miami and for possessing nude photos of a 17-year-old girl on his phone.

Rosemond is facing a separate charge for the murder of Lowell “Lodi Mack” Fletcher in 2009. That case is set to begin next week.

Swizz Beatz: My ONLY Concern Right Now Is Working On DMX’s Comeback Album (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) In 1998, Swizz Beatz produced the majority of DMX’s sophomore album, Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood which went on to sell over 3 million records. 15 years later, Swizz Beatz spoke with Sway on RapFix Live to reveal that his main priority is DMX’s comeback album.

While stating that he and The LOX are already “10 songs deep” into their new album, the Ruff Ryder legendary producer stated DMX is his main priority and even hinted that X might be returning to rare form:

Everything is DMX for me right now. It’s my main focus because it’s what started everything. So, if I don’t focus on that, then it’s just not right. He’s been going through a lot of different things but … he’s DMX! He’s good; he’s in good vibes. But wait until y’all hear this music though — y’all gon’ really know how he is. We working hard on that and I can’t wait. I can’t wait.

3 Questions With… Yancey Boys

When a great musician passes away, they leave behind not just a musical legacy, but their family, friends, and fans. The loss of J. Dilla was a devastating blow for hip-hop, and the loss of a father, son, and brother. Since his passing in 2006, there have been a handful posthumous projects featuring his incredible craftsmanship: Jay Deelicious: The Delicious Vinyl Years, Jay Stay Paid, Rebirth of Detroit, and The Lost Scrolls Vol. 1.

Yancey-Boys-Sunset-Blvd-front-cover-72dpi

The newest project is Sunset Blvd. an album created by Frank Nitt (of Frank’n’Dank) and Illa J., Dilla’s younger brother–currently a part of Slum Village. Featuring appearances by DJ Quik (who mixed and mastered an unfinished Dilla masterpiece), “Go Ask the DJ” featuring Guilty Simpson, J. Rocc, and “Quicksand” featuring Common and Dezi Page. The album recorded at the Delicious Vinyl offices in Los Angeles.

Frank Nitt explains how the process went down: “Illa came to LA with about 60 beats. Came to L.A., and set up camp on Sunset Blvd. We took over half of Delicious Vinyl’s office. Kicked everybody out. Told them to take their computers, pencils and pens and go write somewhere else.”

AllHipHop.com sat down with Frank Nitt and Illa J. to talk about Dilla’s legacy and their new album, Sunset Blvd.

AllHipHop: What is something that you would say that the world does not know about J.Dilla?

Illa J: I’m just gone say, musically I heard him makes so much different type music. It’s hard for me to just say that he’s just a hip-hop producer because I know where we come from and  where our family is from musically. If he was here, he would be making all kinds of stuff. For me, I feel like they put him in a box as far as like in hip-hop as just a hip-hop producer. But he produced all different types of music.

Frank Nitt: Now for me, it will probably be a more of a personal thing. Dilla was almost a recluse. He was a recluse who liked to go to the strip club. A lot people would think because of his records and how flamboyant he was when he rapped and things that he said that he was living that life right?  Like when we went to the strip club directly after that we went to the studio, it was like part of his mojo of making records and doing things.

He was a very guarded individual that was not friendly. I hear a lot of people say how he was. If you met him once or twice, he might be like “Hey, what up?”. But if he don’t know you, he don’t even wanna talk to you. He don’t wanna see you. He don’t wanna smell you. He don’t wanna smoke with you. Any of that. He was very, very guarded, and very in his own box and in his own lane. So, I think that’s the thing. He was really dark.

Who is one current artist that you think he may have wanted to work with or produce for?

Frank Nitt: For me that’s hard to say. He listened to everything. I mean you can look at his body of work and it’s obviously a lot of hip-hop in there, but you know he worked with, and did stuff for Janet Jackson, Raphael Saadiq. He worked with a lot of singers and other genres of music as well but if you look at his body of work it was mostly hip-hop. As a producer, and a fan of music, he had me listening to things I would have never listened to like folk music. He opened up my ears to a lot of different music because he loved music so much. His range was really wide. As a producer it’s hard to put him in any type of box.

Did Dilla ever say what he wanted to be known for?

Frank Nitt: No he just said “I just want to be dope.” That’s it. “I wanna be dope but at the same time make my bread… I wanna be really dope not famous.” That was his M.O. If I’m the dude walking up the street, I wanna be the dopest dude walking up the street. I don’t need any fame to go with it. As long as I got the money to live the lifestyle and help my family and do what I need to do, I don’t need any of the fame. He was very much that. That guy went to the Grammy’s one year and just sat in the limo.

Happy Thought-provoking Thursday! Welcome to the day that you realize that your thoughts have more power than you give it credit for! Today’s Daily Word is dedicated to purifying your thoughts! What you think about the most will be what you often get out of life! Whether consciously or unconsciously, our dominant thoughts often dictate our life! The key is to purify your thoughts! Always think on the bright-side and ONLY look at the possibilities NOT the limitations! It may feel gratifying for a moment to vent and get things off your chest but please believe that this counter-productive to finding a solution! OPINION: Rappers Act Tough, But Scared To Help In “Chiraq”

The views and opinions expressed herein are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the views of AllHipHop.com.

This is an OG call.

I am calling out you so-called rappers, R&B artists and athletes, since many of you have forgotten what Hip-Hop is about and how it can help our people. So I would like to start by calling out some famous people from Chicago.

Kanye West, Noonie Ward, Common
Kanye West, Noonie Ward, Common

Common, Kanye, R. Kelly and Derrick Rose: All of these children are not going to school, being shot and not going to school.

They are on some BS, because they don’t have any sense of direction or the will to strive and survive. Over 48 schools have been closed in the city, so they have nothing else to do but gang bang, get money and do what they need to do.

And this is by design because it’s not the entire city, yet the city has never had this much violence. We were the murder capital of the United States in 2012 along.

Lincoln Park, Washington Park, all of the white areas, there is hardly any violence. But we have the same Mayor and the same police chief. But the guns, and the drugs and liquor stores are in OUR community and being sold to OUR children.

In fact, a lot of them smoke and get high and drunk to HIP-HOP music.

Noonie Ward on Cover of Feds
Noonie Ward on Cover of Feds

You all have no issues asking them to purchase your music, or to support you when you come to Chicago to perform.

You are the main ones who thrive off of the people, while the industry “pimps” you all. Maybe this is the reason you don’t do enough to help, or support the children in Chicago.

A lot of rappers have no problem demeaning our sisters, like predators, instead of showing them a different way to live.

Most artists have some sort of non-profit foundation, that other people are running. You are not using these to help the people who really need the help. At the end of the day, the hood sees no parts of these or any other resources.

Now, Kanye wearing the Confederate flag is interesting. Sometimes it seems like rappers are worse than the Ku Klux Klan.

The people in streets are starting to wake up and see your bulls**t. It won’t be so easy for you all to come to these cities and perform if the local population begins to boycott your products.

I need you all to come together as one with the guys on the street. We need to sit down and find solutions for the kids. First I propose meaningful dialog with some of the top “leaders” of these local street gangs.

Then we can move forward with a public showing of unity, such as a peace summit, or any meaningful display of unity, to help calm these troubled streets.

T.I., Chris Brown, Trey Songz, 2 Chainz, Young Jeezy, Meek Mill, Drake, Future, the list could go on and on.

For once in your life, do what your heart says and not what the powers that be tell you to do.

Help your brothers and sisters.

If you run a label, manage an artist, or simply want to help, please contact me at: no******@*ol.com

WTF News: Man Calls 911 on Neighbors For Not Drinking With Him

Some people don’t respond well to hearing the word no, but this case is ridiculous.

A Florida man named James Collins wanted to drink with his neighbors so bad that he called the police on him when they declined his offer.

Via Huffington Post:

Collins, 56, called 911 on Nov. 3 and reported his neighbors’ rude behavior to the cops, according to Dumb As A Blog.

Officers from the Fort Pierce, Fla., police department thought they were responding to a domestic disturbance call.

Instead, Collins — who was celebrating his birthday — just told them his neighbors were being mean and would not drink with him, according to a report obtained by TCPalm.com.

An officer explained to Collins about misusing 911, but he apparently didn’t get the message.

He called 30 minutes later to once again complain about his neighbors not drinking with him.

This time, when the cops arrived, Collins was arrested on charges of disorderly intoxication and misuse of 911.

Fail.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Is Couples Counseling Working for Khloe and Lamar?

There have been so many rumors surrounding Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom’s relationship. One minute they’re splitting the next minute they’re close to getting back together. Welp, we’re back at the reconciliation reports.

The rumor mill is saying that the couple has been doing well with counseling. Apparently, therapy working miracles for Lamar, who is now sober and getting back to a healthy place. Meanwhile, Khloe is optimistic that they can repair the damage that has been done, and she’s been spotted out and about sporting her  rings.

ESPN’s Skip Bayless: We Need To Kill The N-Word + Says Rappers Contribute To Problem

It is absolutely silly, and unproductive to have a funeral for the word “n*gger” when the actions continue– Eban Thomas on Nas’ “Project Roaches”

(AllHipHop News) For centuries the word n*gger and its derivatives have been a point of contention amongst minority groups and White Americans. After Los Angeles Clippers player Matt Barnes sent out a tweet using the term, ESPN’s loquacious First Take host Skip Bayless wrote an editorial on ESPN.com announcing his stance on the N-word: he wants it dead.

During Wednesday’s  (November 13th) contest between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Oklahoma City Thunder, Matt Barnes was ejected for getting into a physical altercation with Serge Ibaka after Ibaka shoved Barnes’ teammate Blake Griffin. In response to his ejection, Barnes declared he will no longer defend his teammates and used some choice language (blurred out the N-word):

This was not the first occurrence of the N-word being used by athletes and thusly publicized this year. White Philadelphia Eagles’ Riley Cooper was caught on camera saying he will “fight every n*gger here”. Miami Dolphins’ Richie Incognito called fellow teammate Johnathan Martin the N-word through text messages and Warren Sapp has even stated that Incognito once called him a n*gger.

According to the opinionated Skip Bayless, the constant use of the N-word by celebrities, particularly rappers, may have a damaging affect on the psyche of young Americans:

God help us if today’s rampant use of the N-word – by rappers and athletes and movie-makers black and white – is subliminally signaling to white kids that it’s somehow OK to view black people in remotely the same way many of this country’s forefathers did: as subhumans mostly suited for enslaving and serving a superior race.

Bayless ended his lengthy editorial with one simple request: “I wish the N-word would die.”

This was not the first time someone has tried to kill the N-word. In 2007, members of the NAACP held a “funeral” for the N-word.
