Happy Monday my illuminated visionaries! Welcome to the day that you realize that everything happens for a reason and that you are EXACTLY where you are suppose to be! Today’s Daily Word is dedicated to enjoying the ride! Many times while we are going through the fire we ask or wish for a different circumstance. We curse the decision that led us down that path and regret the day that we took such action! What we need to realize is that some adversity is built into our story in order for us to get what we truly deserve! Sometimes when we retreat we are moving away from what goodness is in store for us. ENJOY THE RIDE!! Even when it looks all bad, know and understand that it is all good! Everything happens for a reason and it is what happened that has bought you this far! Your story is your story and as long as you stay focused it will take you where you need to go! Stop playing it safe and stop trying to avoid the struggle! If you get a chance, take it. If it changes your life, let it. The only thing that can stop you from getting what you deserve is death! If you are still standing after the storm, then dust yourself off and rebuild! The rainbow comes after the rain! Put away the umbrella and let your feet do a two step! Nothing can stop you but you!!

Love and Hip-Hop’s Mendeecees Harris Appears In Court For Drug Charge

(AllHipHop News) Mendeecees Harris, star of VH1’s Love and Hip-Hop and long-time boyfriend of fellow reality star/artist manager Yandy Smith, pleaded not guilty to a federal drug conspiracy charge on Friday according to democratandchronicle.com.

Harris and two other defendants, his brother Tyrus Harris and Ronald Walker, were arrested last year for allegedly trafficking over $2.5 million worth of heroin and cocaine between Rochester and New York City from 2005 to 2012.

Around $1.5 million, $406,000 in jewelry, and a 2012 Land Rover associated with the case were confiscated by authorities. If convicted Harris could face up to 20 years in prison.

Frank Sherman, the Assistant U.S. Attorney assigned to the case, asked the judge that Harris be denied bail and held in custody until the trial begins.

Harris’ lawyer Donald Thompson will request a detention hearing that will be scheduled at a court conference set for Wednesday of this week. Thompson also revealed that the defense team has not received information on all the evidence that the prosecution will be presenting at trial.

The court has sealed the search warrants used to raid the properties in New York City so many of the specific details in the U.S. Attorney’s case against Harris and his co-defendants is unknown.

Last month Harris was acquitted of aggravated sexual assault, criminal sexual assault, and child endangerment charges in a separate case in Bergen County, New Jersey.

No Time For Fake Ones: Lil Kim Sues Lawyer For $1 Million, Cites Shady Endorsements

(AllHipHop News) Lil Kim might just be getting over the death of former pal/lover/ghostwriter Notorious B.I.G. but she is definitely not over  Sunny Bakrats, her former lawyer. Why? The pint-size MC claims Bakrats and her friend, Andrew Ro deceived her out of endorsement deals.

According to reports, the Brooklyn-bred MC, born Kimberly Denise Jones, is suing Bakrats for $1 million on the grounds that the JSBarkats PLLC founder duplicitously promised her “multimillion dollar deals for [Kim’s] brands in the cosmetic and perfume business.”

According to suit, which was filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, Lil Kim claims Bakrats and Ro cheated the singer out of “valuable trademark and branding rights” while somehow usurping 44 percent control of a corporation started to license her brand names.

Bakrats is not intimidated and actually calls the suit “another frivolous attempt by Lil’ Kim and her attorneys to get out of what is otherwise a binding agreement.”

This is not the first time Lil Kim has claimed she missed a business opportunity due to bad advice.

Recently in a visit to MTV’s RapFix, Kim mentioned advice that Sean “Diddy” Combs allegedly gave her, which led to her not being on one of the biggest hits of the 2000’s, Sisqo’s “Thong Song.”

Apparently, Diddy influenced her to hardball Def Jam’s President at the time Lyor Cohen, who eventually released the song without Lil Kim featured:

 I wanted Redman and Method Man to be on Cease’s next single because he had done a record with them and I needed clearance for them and [Lyor] kept telling me ‘no,’ ” she explained. “I’m like, ‘Cease needs this right now.’ … And he was like, ‘But I want you to be on this single that I have with Sisqo coming out.’ The ‘Thong Song’ wasn’t out yet, and I was like, ‘OK, I’ll do it, [if you give me clearance’ [for Cease’s song]. He was like, ‘No.’ “

Will Smith and Oprah’s Former Designer Sentenced to 39 Years for Murder

(AllHipHop News) Herbert Van Stephens spent decades styling the biggest names and now a prison jumpsuit will be his only attire for decades.

The 53-year-old costume and wardrobe designer was sentenced to 39 years in prison after being convicted of first degree murder in January for the stabbing of John E. Atkinson.

Atkinson, 24 and Van Stephens were a couple and had been arguing before Van Stephens repeatedly stabbed his companion with a knife in the 600 block of West Stratford Place in Chicago, IL.

An autopsy revealed Atkinson had been stabbed 50 times with 30 of those directed at his chest which pierced his lung and heart. Atkinson suffered several other injuries and was pronounced dead after being taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital.

While Atkinson was writhing in pain, the prosecutors of the case claim Van Stephens called a relative. Van Stephens defense attorney Ruth McBeth unsuccessfully argued the heinous act was a result of self-defense.

Van Stephens has a film credit for wardrobe in the 1997 movie Peoria Babylon and has most notably styled Oprah for her TV show in the past.

Lil Boosie Earns GED While Incarcerated at Angola Prison

(AllHipHop News) A picture of Lil’ Boosie surfaced on the internet with the Baton Rouge rapper holding a GED earned at Angola Prison in Angola, Louisiana.

Currently Lil’ Boosie is incarcerated for eight years, for trying to sneak marijuana and other substances into the notorious jail that also currently houses C-Murder, currently serving a life sentence.

In an article with Spin Magazine, Boosie details his life behind bars, updating his fans on how he is coping with the sentence that could end as early as this summer or as late as 2014.

“It’s been hard at times. Some guards hate me with a passion and it shows in some of the things,” Lil Boosie said of his years spent in prison.

“Some guards come to work full of hatred for inmates. I think they do that because their household is miserable or they’re just tired of working. When I first got here, I was a ticking time bomb. I’ve been done bad by some guards, but there’s people here who have been done worse. They do have some cool guards here though. As far as inmates, I’m respected. It’s just like the street -the real respect me and the fake are Boosie haters.”

I’m gathering what happened, but Justin Timberlake went on Saturday Night Live for the 5th time and decided to use that opportunity to send a jab to Kanye West. He and Jay-Z (one of Kanye’s “besties”) performed on the show last night. Justin’s new song is pretty much regarded as lukewarm, but forget that. Kanye call him and his bestie to charge calling the song wack. But Justin changed the lyrics to ”Sh*t so sick got a hit and picked up a habit” to “My hits so sick, got rappers acting dramatic. ”

That was definitely a jab at Kanye.

And good night.

I’m not sure if Jay remembers the Super Bowl Debacle known as Nipplegate.

There have been many of rappers to make the transition from ballin to rapping, but few have had success of making it to radio with commercially viable hits.  Port Arthur, TX baller Stephen Jackson (San Antonio Spurs) has been killing it recently with his mixtapes, Shaq had his popular track with the Fu-Schnickens, Melo signed Cassidy for a sec, now Kentucky college basketball player Nerlens Noel kicks something for the fans.   Nerlens shows he has a few bars for Hip-Hop heads while he recovers from the season ending injury and ponders entering the NBA.
