(AllHipHop News) We the Best Music/Cash Money Records and DJ Khaled protegé, Ace Hood just released his Starvation 2 mixtape.

The mixtape features a host of guests artists including Meek Mill, Plies, French Montana, Yo Gotti, Choo Choo and Kevin Cossom.

But the young spitter also acquired top-notch production from Young Chop, Jahlil Beats, Cardiak, The Renegades and many others.

From the hyped up “Goin Down” featuring Meek Mill, to the introspective “F**k Da World” song that tackles issues like the Sandy Hook, Connecticut shootings and the Aurora, Colorado movie theater shootings, Ace Hood serves fans up a 20-track project with 17 songs, an introduction and a few interludes.

“‘Starvation 2’ is my latest but greatest creation thus far, I’m proudest of my growth with this mixtape. Seeing life through my perspective, I think this is the purest form of substance and hunger,” Ace Hood told AllHipHop in an exclusive interview.

It’s Happened Again: Shots Ring Out In Taft California High School

(AllHipHop News) Gun violence has been in the hearts and minds of Americans from sea to shining sea in recent weeks, after the shootings in Newtown, Connecticut that killed 20 children and six adults.

Today, the wave of gun violence continued, just as a hearing with Vice President Joe Biden regarding the White House’s new “Gun Violence Task Force” was under way.

News is breaking across the wires and social media that a gunman infiltrated a school in Taft, California and people had been shot.

According to CNN local police are reporting that one student, a 16-year-old, fired at two students with a 12-gauge shotgun, critically wounding one and missing the other at Taft High School earlier this morning.

The 16-year-old suspect is a student who missed the start of his first class Thursday morning.

He entered the school in the middle of first period, walked into class and shot a 16-year-old fellow student with a 12-gauge shotgun, Kern County Sheriff Don Youngblood told reporters.

The shooter then fired at a second student, but missed, according to Sheriff Youngblood.

The teacher in the class tried to usher almost 30 students out of the class and engaged the shooter in conversation, according to Sheriff Youngblood.

That teacher and another person, a “campus supervisor”, continued to talk to the shooter, and eventually the shooter put the shotgun down, Youngblood said. Police officers then arrested the shooter.

The wounded student was then airlifted to a hospital.The teacher was apparently struck in the head by a pellet, but appeared fine, Kern County Sheriff Don Youngblood told reporters.

Besides the student who was shot, a second student was taken to the hospital with possible hearing damage because the gun was fired so close to her.

A third student apparently was hurt when he or she “fell over tables” trying to leave the classroom.

Classes are expected to resume on Monday, an official said at a news conference in Taft.

U.S. Rep. Kevin McCarthy, whose district includes Taft, tells reporters at a news conference there, “What this teacher did was heroic,””

A$AP F3RG Explains “Trap Lord” Moniker; Says President Obama is a “Trap Lord”

(AllHipHop News) A$AP F3RG from the A$AP Mob recently sat down with Sway from Sirius/XM’s “Sway in the Morning” radio show.

Since being featured on A$AP Mob mixtapes and countless singles of his own, A$AP F3RG has quickly emerged as one of the A$AP Mob’s strong suits over the last year.

A$AP F3RG has been tied into the rap game for some time, because his father had a well-known t-shirt and logo designing business that acquired clients like P Diddy and others, who needed logos for their label.

On the “Sway in the Morning” show, hosts Sway and Heather B spoke with A$AP F3RG about the definition of a ‘”trap lord” and what it means to him.

“Ay trap lord is the trill rap lord. Like like Robin Hood of the hood. It’s basically like you trappin, but you got the lord on you conscious,” A$AP F3RG explained on Sirius/XM’s Sway in the Morning. “Basically like gangster disciples.”

“Pac was a trap lord. Pac had a lil thug in him, thuggish ruggish – you know, but he still had the Lord on his mind.  DMX was a trap lord,” A$AP F3RG said. “It’s not even about a music thing, it’s a culture thing, it’s what you come from. Not just rapper, just anybody. You can be a Trap Lord and be from the suburbs, it’s just that little self inside your self.”

When asked by Sway if he felt that President Obama was a trap lord, A$AP said “definitely,” elaborating that a “trap lord” doesn’t necessarily mean an individual is selling drugs.

“We need to applaud for the that, President Obama is a trap lord definitely because if you come from where I come from then you know ‘trapping’ is not just selling drugs.  I never sold drugs a day in my life, but trappin is trapping is whatever you got,” A$AP F3RG told Sway. “You could be trapping music, some people sell music on the street, CD’s and stuff like that.  Trapping could be t-shirts, trapping could be selling fake Rolex’s, whatever to get by. Its all wrong, its like the black market, but you know you need to go back and put food on your table at home.”

No word on when A$AP F3RG’s solo mixtape will be released, but fans of A$AP F3RG can check his music on the A$AP Mob mixtape called “Lord$ Never Worry” via LiveMixtapes.

He will also be on A$AP Rocky’s upcoming debut solo project called LONG.LIVE A$AP, where F3RG is showcased on the track “Ghetto Symphony,” which also features Maybach Music Group’s Gunplay.

Everybody is waiting the return of the KING!

OK, MJ ain’t coming, back but they are really excited to see that Justin Timberlake is about to bust a move on the R&B scene. But here is the catch.

A recent report has said that Timberlake has brought in the biggest gun he could find to help solidify his return. No, not Cassidy. He’s apparently and reportedly secured Jay-Z to feature on this highly anticipated new song he’s about the release. Nobody knows for sure so this is just a rumor right now. It has already been revealed that Justin has been in the studio with Jay’s beloved Beyonce. Nothing is confirmed, but some have suggested it could be all three on one song. Sounds like overkilled to me but thats what these people do.

Rapper LL Cool J Demos New Collaborative Studio Software During CES Convention

(AllHipHop News) Rapper LL Cool J was among the celebrities who launched new products during the annual CES convention in Las Vegas.

LL introduced his new Liquid MyConnect Studio on CNET’s stage and demoed the new product during CES, which is the biggest technology trade show in the United States.

During the demo, LL showed how the software he is backing allows musicians all over the world to collaborate, record and share music, using Liquid My Connect Studio.

The rapper later attended CNET’s party at Vinyl in the Hard Rock Hotel, where he was joined by Jim Lanzone, president of CBS Interactive, as he showcased his software.

In related news, LL Cool J will return as host of the 55th Annual Grammy Awards.

The event will be televised live on February 10 at 8:00 PM.

DESTINY’S REUNION?

I know Michelle and Kelly are like, “Thank you sweet baby Jesus!” It looks like there may be the first stages of a reunion on the way for Destiny’s Child. The rumors clearly have come as Beyonce announces that the popular group will be releasing new music with a new complication of love songs. But, quickly, the word spread that the group would be working on an actual reunion! I think its a good thing. What do you think?

KANYE WEST: KEEP MY KID AWAY FROM THE KARDASHIANS!

Word on the street says Kanye is not interested in his kid being raised by the Kardashians, in particular momma Kris. I don’t know if they fight a lot, but it seems like there is some ongoing beef there. Remember she tried to son Kanye when she said Kim was famous “all over a home movie”? Anyway, Perez Hilton is saying that Kris Jenner wanted to get them to live really close to hear, but Kanye said “over my dead body.” Here is what another source said: “Kris is desperate to be close to Kim during her pregnancy… She wanted to be able to visit Kim as often as possible and come and go as and when she chose to. Kris even suggested having her own key. But, Kanye laid down the law. He said ‘hell no’ to the idea and told Kim he didn’t want to live near her mom.” Another source said, KimYe are not really on the same page either, despite pictures that say otherwise. “Kanye and Kris haven’t been seeing eye-to-eye of late, and he thinks that’s because she’s always around him, meddling in his relationship with Kim. He feels his privacy has been compromised and wants a little space away from the family. And, more than anything, Kanye wants a little bit of quiet time with Kim alone.” Hopefully, this isn’t stressing Kim out which could affect the baby. That baby didn’t ask for this circus but it will be a star of the show.

Another issue Kanye has to face is his popularity.

A recent poll says his popularity is WAY DOWN. What do you think? He seems more popular than ever, not so beloved, but popular.

BEYONCE BOYCOTT?

Nobody’s really going to successfully topple Beyonce, but their are a lot of people coming forth to criticize the singer for her recent endorsement deal with Pepsi. People are saying that Beyonce is really doing disservice to her fans pushing soda to them. A source he me up and said: “She is trying to get impressionable teens to drink something that leads to all sorts of health ailments like obesity, heart disease and type 2 diabetes! She and Jay-Z made their money. Why does she have to take this route to make it, which inevitably pushes others down?” The source told me that some sort of boycott would be coming that would include doctors, activists and even fans. They also cited a certain hypocrisy with regard to B participating in The First Lady’s Health Push. I guess they just want to pressure B to promote something more healthy.

Will it be effective? I doubt it. People are far to sheepish these days.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Will Things Continue To Explode In Chicago With JoJo, Lil Reese And Chief Keef?

I know at the end of the day, the stuff with Chief Keef and JoJo is really about something not related to rap, but rap is the backdrop. The situation is serious and getting more problematic. Doesn’t seem like people are just going to let JoJo die unavenged. I know at first there was a lot of positive talk that lead some to believe a peaceful resolution would result. That’s not likely to happen from what I’ve heard. Members from JoJo’s crew have reportedly been going at Lil Reese and Chief Keef in the streets and on twitter, sending a message that they are going to get them back for their loss. You know, its the same song from back in the day when a rapper gets bigger. They leave the hood due to safety concerns for the most part. Well, that’s exactly what Jojo’s people are saying to Lil Reese and them. The funny thing is I heard the police are all over this thing. So why don’t they, or somebody else, (hint, hint powerful people from Chicago in Hip-Hop, government and local community) do something? Who knows.  Hopefully this doesn’t escalate into more murders but don’t hold your breath.

Is Melo Having Trouble in La La Land?

(AllHipHop News) After this week’s outburst against the Boston Celtic’s Kevin Garnett, Carmelo Anthony not only was suspended for one game but seems like he and wife La La are working to strengthen their relationship.

During Monday’s game in Boston, Garnett — well known for on court trash talking — allegedly whispered to Melo that his wife “tastes like Honey Nut Cheerios.” Rightfully so, Melo lost it.

Sources close to the couple assure that there has never been an issue of infidelity but work has kept Melo and La La on opposite sides of the country.

“It is true they haven’t seen much of each other in the past few months,” says a friend of the couple. “She’s been away a lot filming her show, ‘La La’s Full Court Life,’ in London, New York and LA. They are not separated and are still together. She and Melo have a house in LA — so she’s always there when she’s doing auditions.”

But others say they’ve been going through a more rocky period. “They have been living separately for several months now,” says a source. “She’s been living in LA while Carmelo has been in New York.” The source added, “La La used to go out to the games and wanted to be seen . . . now she’s always off doing her own thing.” [NY Post]

Melo has already gone on record stating that he and Garnett were able to address the issue over the phone. No sightings of Melo and La La together yet but her VH1 cameras are sure to capture them for the new season of “La La’s Full Court Life.”

Justin Beiber may be heading to the dark side too soon in his young career. The Beebz may have people worried and Hip-Hop may be to blame, some folks seems to be saying. I got a bit of a tip that I really didn’t care about until this Akon story came along and then “wa-la” rumor. Seriously, it seems that insiders are worried that Justin Beiber may be hanging out with the wrong people and those people are influencing him to do stuff like smoke weed. Now, depending on your views, weed is no big deal. But, think about it, Beiber is a pop star with no peer (yet). He used to be seemingly very religious but more recently has been dogged in the public. But the weed stuff was the lil twist that got everybody in a tizzy.

Signs The World Is Coming To An End: 90 Year Old Shot Twice

A 90-year-old-woman was shot in New York, caught in the middle of a gun fight. Check out this report from ABC and tell m what you think? Thank goodness she didn’t die. The gun law hounds are going absolute gaga over this one.

A 90-year-old woman was shot three tiems in East New York, Brooklyn. It happened at around 4:25 p.m. near the intersection of Blake and Miller Avenues.


The victim, who police say was shot twice in the arm was taken to Brookdale Hospital and remains in stable condition.
Officials say the woman was with her home health attendant at the time of the shooting. She was shot and hit in the elbow.


The streets of East New York were cordoned off with crime scene tape Wednesday night, and what a crime it was. Think of all Gloria Johnson has seen in her 90 years, but she never saw this coming. On the way to the Laundromat she was shot twice.


“She didn’t know she’d been shot until she saw the blood,” said Ellen Johnson, the victim’s granddaughter.


Stephan works at a nearby deli and he came out to help Mrs. Johnson.
“She couldn’t talk, she’s was just nervous like shaking. She saw the blood and that’s when she got worried too much,” said Stephan Ali, an eyewitness.
Police believe the 90-year-old woman was caught in a gun battle between two people who had a beef that had nothing to do with her. But people in the community were not eager to hear any excuses.


“Shame on you for busting shots at 90-year-old ladies, shame on you, embarrassing that this has happened in our community. It’s bad enough that we are going through enough troubles in life, to have a 90-year-old lady shot in our community,” said John Rodriguez, a resident.
This as the governor and lawmakers are considering new gun laws.


“Folks in Brooklyn, in Queens, in Manhattan, in the Bronx are dying out here. Our young people and now our elders are being shot with these illegal handguns and this has to stop today,” said Tony Herbert, a community activist.


Three generations of family members are just happy Mrs. Johnson is OK.


“She’s fine, she wants to go home actually. She’s strong, she’s been through a lot and we just need your prayers,” said Stacey Holt, the victim’s granddaughter.

Sources say a silver car, belived to be an Acura, pulled up near the intersection and fired at a group of people standing at the corner of Blake and Miller Avenues.


Police say the victim was not the intended target.

Three Questions For: Big Tigger

Big Tigger is one of hip-hop’s most well-known icons. Not only was he a staple of BET — Rap City’s Tha Basement, 106 & Park — Tigger current hosts the only nationally syndicated hip-hop show, “Live in the Den with Big Tigger.”  When one of the country’s biggest hip hop markets called, Tigger was more than happy to answer.

Replacing Ryan Cameron as the drive time show host on V-103 WVEE, Big Tigger has gotten a warm welcome since arriving to the Peach State. AG Entertainment–Atlanta’s premier party promoters– threw him a Welcome to Atlanta party on New Year’s Day that was hosted by none other than T.I. An emerging media market, a lot of attention is being paid to Atlanta and now Tigger.

AllHipHop.com was excited to get on the phone to talk to our good friend, Tigg and ask him about his new digs, his secret hobby, and which #OOMF he’d love to spend a day hanging out with.

AllHipHop.com: So, welcome to Atlanta! Are you excited to be here?

Big Tigger: Hey man, I’m having a good time so far. Southern Hospitality is a true term. In the A, they are showing me a lot of love. Whether it be on the air, or going to the store…Target (laughter), people are like, ‘Hey, Tigger, welcome to the A.’  I attribute that to the hospitality here in the south, and my syndicated show has been playing here for a while and people still remember me from BET. It’s good to feel welcome in a new city. ATL is a big media market, there are various television outlets, and other things popping here aside from the artists. So, it’s perfect for me, I love radio and television, I grew up with it, and that’s what I do. So this is kind of like the perfect storm and the perfect opportunity for me. I’m glad I had the opportunity to take advantage of it.

Do you have a little-known hobby or habit?

I think a lot of people know I like motorcycles, I don’t know if people know I love playing and watching basketball. One of my other hobbies, and I still do it even though I am a Ciroc boy and we rep Ciroc all day, I’ve been a collector of Cognac (for years). I have like 69 different brands, different marks, different levels of cognac from around the world. My crown jewel in this achievement, one of my favorite bottles costs $5,000, it’s in a Lalique crystal glass, and if you went out to a club to order it, it would cost about $500 a shot. Yeah, especially when I was with BET and Rap City we got to travel around the world and I would see bottles, like, ‘Oooh, I want that bottle…’ and it became like a hobby. It can be a rather expensive hobby because cognac bottles can range anywhere from $25 to $5,000, and there’s a good, I’d say, 60 bottles I’ll never open.

EXCLUSIVE: Freeway Rick Ross, Warner Brothers Going To Trial Over Rapper’s Name “Rick Ross”

(AllHipHop News) Lawyers for Warner Brothers and former drug kingpin/community activist Freeway Ricky Ross faced off in court yesterday (January 9), in downtown Los Angeles.

Both sides were in Superior Court, for a hearing in the ongoing battle over the name “Rick Ross.”

Judge Rita Miller finally set an August date for a trial by Jury, to hear the lawyers’ arguments regarding the case.

Freeway Ricky Ross told AllHipHop.com that he would be deposing some of the industry’s biggest executives in the case, all of whom are associated with the rapper Rick Ross.

“We will be deposing Sean Combs, Stephen Cooper, Lyor Cohen and Todd Moscowitz,” Freeway Ricky Ross told AllHipHop.com today (January 9).

Freeway Ricky Ross claims that despite the ongoing court battle, Rick Ross is still flagrantly ripping off his image.

The rapper recently revealed the title of his upcoming sixth album will be titled Mastermind.

According to Freeway Ricky Ross, the rapper continues to subtly, or not so subtly associate himself with words, images and phrases that will fool fans – or search engines.

“He uses Mastermind that’s exactly how the Wall Street Journal described me and my life story,” Freeway Ricky Ross pointed out to AllHipHop.com.

Rick Ross dropped a slick trailer for his new album Mastermind earlier this week.

It featured Curtis Mayfield’s classic “Gimme Your Love,” along with a shot of the cover from the soundtrack to the 1972 movie “Superfly.”

“This guy is literally trying to have people confuse him with me as an actual person,” Freeway Ricky Ross told AllHipHop.com. “In every interview I mention ‘Superfly’ as the movie that pushed me into powder cocaine. I even said it in the VH1’s ‘Planet Rock: The Story of Hip Hop and The Crack Generation,’ that was shown around the world. Then he comes out with this new video with the ‘Superfly’ movie cover as the centerpiece?”

Rick Ross the rapper, born William Leonard Roberts III, has been the subject of a trademark infringement lawsuit since June of 2010.

Freeway Ricky Ross is a former drug kingpin with a cult following, who served over 25 years in prison.

He was convicted of heading up a large-scale drug empire in the 1980s and nineties, that was infamously tied to President Ronald Reagan and the Iran-Contra Scandal.

The staggering amounts of drugs that Freeway Ricky Ross pushed around the country have been the subject of numerous documentaries and news articles, including the Pulitzer prize-winning series from the San Jose Mercury titled “Dark Alliance” by Gary Webb.

Freeway Ricky Ross’ original $10 million lawsuit claimed that rapper Rick Ross used these sources to steal his image and turn it into a multi-million dollar brand.

That lawsuit was dismissed in November 2010, when a judge ruled that Freeway Ricky Ross could not have used his illegal activity to trademark the name “Rick Ross” in the first place.

Freeway Ricky Ross appealed the ruling, but lost another round in court on a technicality in March of 2012, when a judge ruled that he waited too long to file a new lawsuit.

In July of 2012 he was granted an appeal to file a case against Warner Music, the label that markets the rapper’s Maybach Music Group, which features artists like Wale, Meek Mill, Gunplay, Triple C’s, Stalley and others

“The use of my name and image helps him in internet search globally. Its career launching high value to be believed to be the only hip hop artist on this list,” Freeway Rick Ross told AllHipHop.com. “Initially it grounded his career in the confusion, now it helps clean up the inauthenticity that came out about being an officer. I don’t need my name and image diluted and confused that way without license. The use of the ‘Superfly’ movie in this new video is directly connected with me personally as said prior.”

A Jury will hear arguments from both sides in Los Angeles Superior Court, on August 27.

“We feel good about our case, and look forward to letting an LA jury make the decision,” Freeway Ricky Ross told AllHipHop.com.
